Aikens and his frequent filmmaking collaborator, writer-director Scott Allen Nollen, have also produced a series of music CDs, beginning with "Damn Bad" (1986) and "Cokey Bad" (1988). A long-awaited summit with guitarist Todd "Dane" Jacobsen resulted in the formation of a new band, Hiroshima O'Malley, and the CD release "Tick Tock: All Kinds..." (2013). In 2015, Aikens also sang with Jacobsen and Scott Nollen in the progressive rock bands Hymer (on the album "Flat-top Lounger") and Bramwell Fletcher (on albums "Mountains of the Moon" and "Shiitake Inferno").
