- DirectorRich MooreStarsJohn C. ReillyJack McBrayerJane LynchA video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives.7.9
Great movie, a little bit too much fan-service. - DirectorDavid FincherStarsJesse EisenbergAndrew GarfieldJustin TimberlakeAs Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business.10/10
One of the greatest movies of all time. I will never understand why this movie is 7.7. The acting, the direction, the feel of the movie, and the writing are beatifully done. - DirectorRon ClementsJohn MuskerDon HallStarsAuli'i CravalhoDwayne JohnsonRachel HouseIn ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the demigod Maui reaches Moana's island, she answers the Ocean's call to seek out Maui to set things right.9.1
An amazingly anamated masterpiece. The movie looks beatiful. And the music is perfect. I loved Tamatoa. His whole scene is the best scene in a Disney movie I've watched. Sadly, the movie is one of the most predictable movies I've ever seen. A lot of the characters are so boring. But really the "Shiny" scene is perfect in every way. - DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsLeonardo DiCaprioEmily MortimerMark RuffaloTeddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, two US marshals, are sent to an asylum on a remote island in order to investigate the disappearance of a patient, where Teddy uncovers a shocking truth about the place.9.1
Damn, I did not see that coming. This movie is slow at several points with a convoluded plot. Yet OML the plot twist. The acting from Leo isn't actually that good imo in this movie. But nevertheless great movie. - DirectorJared BushByron HowardCharise Castro SmithStarsStephanie BeatrizMaría Cecilia BoteroJohn LeguizamoA Colombian teenage girl has to face the frustration of being the only member of her family without magical powers.8.9
I have a lot of opinions on this one. First of all, it's beautifully shot and directed. Second, most songs suck. We Don't Talk About Bruno and Surface Pressure were the only good ones for me. Third, the characters were fantastic but needed more time.
My trailer for the movie was We Don't Talk About Bruno and it works better than the actual trailer. It got me super intrigued. But it didn't subvert my expectations or something, because it's just a simple movie. It doesn't have to. I feel like surface pressure applies to what some people wanted of this movie.
Now the reason I don't like the songs is mostly that they aren't memorable and I can't see myself re-listening to them. They are too tied to the story and not bangers on their own without the visuals.
The movie has so many great characters which I'll be remembering for so long. I do hate Abuella and she is just such a toxic character. For me, she was the real villain. Bruno was also great, he was my personal fave. I do feel several characters needed a lot more time. I hope this movie gets a small show like Zootopia.
The movie is filled with some missed opportunities and a really rushed conclusion. It's "sad act" was pretty generic. But still its a great movie which I love.
Edit: I might have been too harsh on the music. It has really grown on me. - DirectorAdam McKayStarsChristian BaleSteve CarellRyan GoslingIn 2006-2007 a group of investors bet against the United States mortgage market. In their research, they discover how flawed and corrupt the market is.9.5
The better the movie is, the less I have to talk about and that's true for this movie. It's amazingly acted, expostion is beautifully told, and it's funny. But the ending was so emotional. It was a great movie everyone should watch. - DirectorDean DeBloisChris SandersStarsJay BaruchelGerard ButlerChristopher Mintz-PlasseA hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed.9.0
Damn, this was wholesome. - DirectorNathan GrenoByron HowardStarsMandy MooreZachary LeviDonna MurphyThe magically long-haired Rapunzel has spent her entire life in a tower, but now that a runaway thief has stumbled upon her, she is about to discover the world for the first time, and who she really is.8.7
I haven't had much time for movies currently, but since I was sick I decided to sit down and watch a feel-good movie. It's a little too feel-good. Dinsey movies are afraid to let characters sometimes die, unlike Pixar. The animation for the movie looks like playmobile apart from Rapunzel. This movie was funny and well put together. Rapunzel is now my fave Dinsey princess. - DirectorRon ClementsJohn MuskerStarsJodi BensonSamuel E. WrightRene AuberjonoisA mermaid princess makes a Faustian bargain in an attempt to become human and win a prince's love.8.0
Solid and fun. Not much I can say as most of the other disney princess movies I've watched improve on this movie in every way. - DirectorShawn LevyStarsRyan ReynoldsJodie ComerTaika WaititiWhen Guy, a bank teller, learns that he is a non-player character in a bloodthirsty, open-world video game, he goes on to become the hero of the story and takes the responsibility of saving the world.8.0
I never expected this to be actually good wth. There were surprisingly good jokes and good chemistry. The movie was incredibly cringey at moments. The villain is so cringey and so is Ninja. I nearly spat out water when I saw him. So was like any FOrRTkNiTe reference. - DirectorDavid FincherStarsBrad PittEdward NortonMeat LoafAn insomniac office worker and a devil-may-care soap maker form an underground fight club that evolves into much more.10/10
Actual best movie I watched this year so far. Goddamnnnnnnnnn. - DirectorMatt ReevesStarsRobert PattinsonZoë KravitzJeffrey WrightWhen a sadistic serial killer begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, The Batman is forced to investigate the city's hidden corruption and question his family's involvement.8.3
A great movie. Its cinematography and colors surprised me. The pacing was terrible. Character moments and emotional moments didn't land apart from near the end. Joker was too fanservicey. Riddler was cringey but in a good way. Falcone was nice and threatening. Penguin was fun af. The action was nice albeit predictable and the money shots were wasted in the trailers. Robert Battison was a great Batman but not a great Bruce. Catwoman didn't hit it for me. Kinda just a mediocre character motivated by a person we saw for 14 seconds. They wasted both Alfred and Gordon even though they were both great. I placed my expectations way too high for this movie but I like where it's going. - DirectorAlejandro G. IñárrituStarsMichael KeatonZach GalifianakisEdward NortonA washed-up superhero actor attempts to revive his fading career by writing, directing, and starring in a Broadway production.8.5/10
Pretentious in the best way. It's funny, excelently writte, amazingly directed, and OML the acting is fucking incredible. - DirectorDean DeBloisChris SandersStarsDaveigh ChaseChris SandersTia CarrereA young and parentless girl adopts a 'dog' from the local pound, completely unaware that it's supposedly a dangerous scientific experiment that's taken refuge on Earth and is now hiding from its creator and those who see it as a menace.7.5
Decently fun and funny with great characters. - DirectorIsao TakahataStarsChloë Grace MoretzJames CaanMary SteenburgenKaguya is a beautiful young woman coveted by five nobles. To try to avoid marrying a stranger she doesn't love, she sends her suitors on seemingly impossible tasks. But she will have to face her fate and punishment for her choices.10/10
This is one of the saddest movies I have ever watched and I cried three times watching it. - DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsEthan HawkeJulie DelpyAndrea EckertA young man and woman meet on a train in Europe, and wind up spending one evening together in Vienna. Unfortunately, both know that this will probably be their only night together.8.5
What a well-written marvel. After watching Moon Knight I wanted to see more of Ethan Hawke's acting so I decided to watch the "Before" trilogy. This move is incredibly well-acted and superbly written. It feels like someone got a camera and just filmed people talking. - DirectorGary TrousdaleKirk WiseStarsPaige O'HaraRobby BensonJesse CortiA prince cursed to spend his days as a hideous monster sets out to regain his humanity by earning a young woman's love.8.4
Really great film, but a bit overrated. It's pacing is too fast, it's story is incredibly predicatble (ik its based on folklore but still), and the dance scene is very dated. Still great music. - DirectorSam RaimiStarsBenedict CumberbatchElizabeth OlsenChiwetel EjioforDoctor Strange teams up with a mysterious teenage girl who can travel across multiverses, to battle other-universe versions of himself which threaten to wipe out the multiverse. They seek help from the Scarlet Witch, Wong and others.7
- DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsEthan HawkeJulie DelpyVernon DobtcheffNine years after Jesse and Celine first met, they encounter each other again on the French leg of Jesse's book tour.8.4
Not as emotional for me, but just as real and well-written. - DirectorHiromasa YonebayashiStarsBridgit MendlerAmy PoehlerWill ArnettThe Clock family are four-inch-tall people who live anonymously in another family's residence, borrowing simple items to make their home. Life changes for the Clocks when their teenage daughter Arrietty is discovered.8.3
Great concept and animatio, but lackluster forced ending. - DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsYôji MatsudaYuriko IshidaYûko TanakaOn a journey to find the cure for a Tatarigami's curse, Ashitaka finds himself in the middle of a war between the forest gods and Tatara, a mining colony. In this quest he also meets San, the Mononoke Hime.8.9
I don't really like this movie's characters much. They feel like tools of the story instead of fully-fledged 3d characters. It's world and plot is what drives this movie. The animation also helps and it isn't like the characters are bad imo. - DirectorDanny BoyleStarsMichael FassbenderKate WinsletSeth RogenSteve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution, to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter. The story unfolds backstage at three iconic product launches, ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac.9.5
Underrated as fuck. Awesomely written and incredbly acted. Editing and cinematography are peak. - DirectorSam MendesStarsTom HanksTyler HoechlinPaul NewmanA mob enforcer's son in 1930s Illinois witnesses a murder, forcing him and his father to take to the road, and his father down a path of redemption and revenge.8.4
Dark and fun with awesome perfomances. - DirectorLana WachowskiLilly WachowskiStarsKeanu ReevesLaurence FishburneCarrie-Anne MossWhen a beautiful stranger leads computer hacker Neo to a forbidding underworld, he discovers the shocking truth--the life he knows is the elaborate deception of an evil cyber-intelligence.8.5
Really fun 90s action. A tad bit overrated, but incredibly fun to watch. It has everything a movie needs to be good. - DirectorGeorge P. CosmatosKevin JarreStarsKurt RussellVal KilmerSam ElliottA successful lawman's plans to retire anonymously in Tombstone, Arizona, are disrupted by the kind of outlaws he was famous for eliminating.8.0
Val Kilmer carried this movie hard.
