- DirectorMaddy ThorsonWhile scaling a supernatural mountain in an attempt to salvage her self-respect, a depressed young woman is confronted by a doppelganger manifesting her doubts and fears.10/10
"I've got your back, and i believe in you!"
Verdict: If you have social anxiety and low self esteem then this is the game for you! - DirectorHidetaka MiyazakiStarsDaniel FineJoe SimsWilliam VanderpuyeA hunter awakens in the plagued lands of Yharnam, where the denizens have succumb to beast hood, in an attempt to learn the truth and how to end the plague, unbeknownst of the true horror lurking within the city.10/10
Verdict: yharnam is a completely realized world that's both terrifying and dreamlike, perfectly capturing the haunting atmosphere of what it must feel like being in a gothic nightmare. i didn't research the lore of the game nor the story and yet, the confusion i had of what the hell was going on throughout the game made the experience that much better because it made me feel like i was truly lost in the nightmarish world of yharnam desperately trying to escape. - In a world of insects, a diminutive knight descends into an ancient and crazed kingdom to restore its fallen king's order.9.9/10
Verdict - pretty much bloodborne if it didn't have a AAA budget. This is the peak of creativity under constraints, developed by an indie studio with a limited budget, this 2d platformer still manages to be beautifully animated, terrifyingly atmospheric and equips the player with an easy to learn yet hard to master combat system with such fine tuned precision. Also...THIS GAME WAS MADE BY 3 PEOPLE, 3 PEOPLE lmao WHAT THE FUCK? completely mesmerised by the talent of the people behind this game. - DirectorKen LevineStarsJohn AhlinGreg BaldwinJane BellerIn 1960, a lone survivor of a plane crash named Jack discovers an abandoned underwater utopia, only to find out that the mystery behind its creation is much more sinister than he first believed.9.8/10
Verdict: the developers really perfected rapture, became completely immersed in this world they built, with a creepy atmosphere which felt present throughout the entire game, an aspect i felt could've benefited in infinite as that game just didn't feel very immersive or atmospheric. the only shit part of this game was that dumb ass plumbing simulator, pretty insane that this came out the same year as drake's fortune - DirectorNeil DruckmannBruce StraleyStarsTroy BakerAshley JohnsonHana HayesIn a hostile, post-pandemic world, Joel and Ellie, brought together by desperate circumstances, must rely on each other to survive a brutal journey across what remains of the United States.9.7/10
verdict: it seems to be a trend in most naughty dog games that the story is artificially lengthened by having the character be blocked off by a locked area and forcing them to find a longer route around, this is most prevalent in uncharted 1 and uncharted 4, but with the last of us it tricked us into not being bored by sprinkling in the playful dynamic between joel and ellie to keep us entertained during these otherwise boring sections, so gotta give props to the team on that. it's just a shame the first 30 minutes following the prologue were boring as fuck because without ellie and joel's dynamic, it was back to being a walking simulator mixed with short bursts of shooting or stealthing waves of enemies. the rest of this game was perfect, also v underrated multiplayer mode - DirectorAmy HennigBruce StraleyStarsNolan NorthEmily RoseClaudia BlackAfter being tracked down by Harry Flynn, Nathan Drake goes on a quest for Marco Polo's lost fleet. However when things take an unexpected turn for the worst, Drake must rely on those closest to him in order to find the Cintomani Stone.9.5/10
verdict: took all the issues i had from drake's fortune and actually improved upon them, those set pieces goddamn, the most consistent entry in the series, every other game in the series has large chunks that are just at such a disconnect with "fun", this one kept me entertained throughout - DirectorKen LevineStarsTroy BakerCourtnee DraperKiff VandenHeuvelA man is sent to the flying city of Columbia to find a missing girl. However, upon arrival he discovers that the city, its people, and his objective are all not what they seem.8.5/10 - my favourite parts in the first two games was the engaging world of rapture and its ability to instil a creepy vibe around every corner. nothing in this game captured any of that essence, rather it was a decent walking simulator intertwined with fun bursts of shooting down poor people??
9.5/10: Burial at Sea DLC - a much needed return to the haunting world of rapture, expanding the lore of the series whilst remaining faithful to the characters established in the base game - DirectorCory BarlogStarsChristopher JudgeSunny SuljicJeremy DaviesAfter wiping out the gods of Mount Olympus, Kratos moves on to the frigid lands of Scandinavia, where he and his son must embark on an odyssey across a dangerous world of gods and monsters.8.6/10
verdict: didn't think it was a masterpiece like everyone else, traversing through the large map is a bit tedious at times because the fast travel system is still fairly limited when it comes to where it allows kratos to be transported. it's still great, the entire game being one shot was really impressive n the combat was really engaging - DirectorRyan SmithStarsYuri LowenthalTara PlattTravis WillinghamWhen a new villain threatens New York City, Peter Parker and Spider-Man's worlds collide. To save the city and those he loves, he must rise up and be greater.8.5/10
verdict: surprisingly consistent, very little time was wasted on having the story revolve around unnecessary shit unlike the arkham games. that being said, i paid for spider-man ps4 not mary jane ps4 - StarsShawn FontenoNed LukeSteven OggThree very different criminals team up for a series of heists and walk into some of the most thrilling experiences in the corrupt city of Los Santos.8.5/10
- DirectorNeil DruckmannBruce StraleyStarsNolan NorthTroy BakerRichard McGonagleThrown back into the dangerous underworld he'd tried to leave behind, Nathan Drake must decide what he's willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.8.4/10
verdict: very satisfying conclusion to the series, but the game looking pretty didn't make up for the large chunks of the story which were boring. Large sections which felt like walking simulators, was just dying to get to the next action setpiece. i'd just skip straight to chapter 5 if i ever replay this - DirectorSefton HillStarsCarlos AlazraquiLaura BaileyTroy BakerWith his back against the wall, Batman turns to his closest allies to help him save Gotham City from the clutches of Scarecrow and the Arkham Knight's army. A familiar face also returns to give The Dark Knight a message he cannot ignore.8.0/10
Verdict: Manages to surpass Arkham City by making the open world aspect more interconnected and interactive during the main story. The story is also tighter (less fetch quests and less missions involving going from point A to Point B) creating a better pace than arkham city
