Legendary editor whose wizardry in creating innumerable sound effects from everyday objects helped elevate Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies to rank among the most popular cartoons ever made. Tregoweth Edmond Brown was born in Gilbert, Minnesota, in November 1899. Pursuing a musical career early on, he made his first foray as a performer in vaudeville. Later, he worked as a sideman for several notable jazz bands (he played banjo in Benny Meroff's orchestra and was on guitar for Red Nichols and his 'Five Pennies'). He moved to California during the Depression era, and, from 1932 to 1934, served as music editor on Cecil B. DeMille features at Paramount, gaining valuable experience.
By the time he joined Carl W. Stalling at Leon Schlesinger's 'Termite Terrace', Brown was an accomplished multi-instrumentalist in his own right, backed by his own orchestra. He went on to excel at integrating his sound effects with Stalling's orchestrations. It was, first and foremost, Brown's inventiveness and boundless imagination which brought a motion picture quality to Warner Brothers cartoons. Not content with simply using musical instruments to create sound effects, he would instead raid the studio library for sounds from action films. Incorporating these added a touch of aural realism to the visual fantasy on the screen and thereby heightened the desired dramatic effect. Brown also ventured 'into the field' with a tape recorder to capture a multitude of noises which eventually became part of a great sound effects library created on film to be used over and over again (for example, he recorded the audience and animal sounds during a bullfight in Barcelona for Bully for Bugs (1953)). Brown presided over an entire garage full of noise-making devices.
Treg Brown is credited with introducing the hitherto unknown radio actor Mel Blanc to Schlesinger's illustrious line-up of animators (who included Tex Avery, Robert Clampett and Friz Freleng) and effectively got him hired. History was made that day. Brown himself received a Best Sound Effects Oscar late in his career for The Great Race (1965).The original sound designer for Warner Bros projects- Sound Department

John Roesch has been a professional Foley Artist for over forty years. He started as an actor at Radnor Senior High School and with Brian Morgans help, the theater arts teacher, found his calling. He then went to the USIU-School of Performing Arts in San Diego as a freshman. He was exposed to many aspects of acting and when by chance a friend suggested they partner together on making a film, he jumped right in. The film, "Indian Magik is what you See" won the San Diego film festival in 1972. Springboarding on that accolade, he decided to try his hand at film directing. He applied and gained admission to New York University. He majored in the School of the Arts Film program. He graduated with a BFA in Film. He made a short film at NYU that he used to gain entrance to the American Film Institute as a Directing Fellow. After the first year at AFI he decided to strike out and worked a lot of independent films as a runner, location scout and an Assistant Director. As fate would have it, Dessy Markovsky, a fellow filmmaker asked if he could "help" with the sound on the film she was working on and that was his first taste of Foley. He found that he had a knack for it and began working at an independent Post Production facility, "Gomillion Sound". His then foley partner, Joan Rowe, (who helped him get hired at Gomillion) and he worked as a team for many years. During the 80's and early 90's, he opened with partners, Tim Sadler, Allan Goodman and later Ed Bannon, TAJ Soundworks which was considered one of the premiere Foley stages in Hollywood for its creativity and sound.Tim Sadler and Ed Bannon helped push the technological boundaries which made it so excellent. Leaving there, John went to work at Warner Hollywood along with Alyson Moore and MaryJo Lang. They as a team transferred to the Warner Brothers lot Foley Stage until John left in 2016 to accept a position at Skywalker Sound to head up a new stage to be built, the "Archive Foley Stage" . His experience as a foley artist allowed him to incorporate a new stage pit layout, water tanks and various surfaces that are superior in every aspect. He then had as his teammates, Shelley Roden as his partner and Scott Curtis as the Foley mixer. They have had many years of great success. John decided the time was at hand to hang up his "foley spurs" and will be retired at the end of March 2023. He will continue to work in the business just not on an active foley stage day to day. He, along with his partners, Charles Kohlmyer and Chris Hanzlik have created Audible Bandwidth Productions which creates programming for Cable and VOD Networks. They also can be utilized for Foley Stage consultation for design, retrofit of an existing stage(s), Master Classes for foley personnel and prop integrations. John is also represented by the Mollie Plotkin Group as a Lead Speaker for any appropriate venue. His vast experience in the film business has left him with many "stories" and a unique outlook on life which audiences find fascinating. He is a member of Local 700 , Motion Picture Sound Editors, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.Foley Artist; currently at Skywalker Sound- Sound Department

Born in San Diego, California, the young Robert Clampett was monumentally moved as a child by the film The Lost World (1925), inspiring him to create a sea-serpent sock-puppet that he used in puppet shows to entertain the neighborhood kids. This led him to create a stuffed Mickey Mouse toy, which became a prototype for the first mass-produced Mickey Mouse doll.
Between 1931 and 1947 Clampett was an animator and later director for the legendary Leon Schlesinger Productions (later Warner Brothers Animation) where alongside his one time boss Tex Avery he became known as the wackiest and most archetypally cartoonish of all the directors.
During this time he also developed a test for a animated adaptation of 'John Carter of Mars' however, despite the support of the author Edgar Rice Burroughs it failed to materialize.
Amongst his famous fare was the Dalí inspired Porky in Wackyland (1938), his loving adaption of the Dr. Seuss book Horton Hatches the Egg (1942), the controversial all-black cast musical Snow White parody Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs (1943), the Fantasia (1940) parody A Corny Concerto (1943) and John Kricfalusis's favorite cartoon The Great Piggy Bank Robbery (1946) featuring the acerbic irreverence of Daffy Duck -- easily the most Clampett-esque of all his characters.
Clampett, at the time the longest serving employee at the animation studio, finally left in 1947. After a brief stint at Columbia, and a one-off cartoon at Republic It's a Grand Old Nag (1947) he was inspired by the new innovation of television to resurrect his old sea-serpent puppet, and created the phenomenally successful Time for Beany (1949)_ puppet television show, which was acclaimed by the likes of Albert Einstein and Groucho Marx, and even inspired the AC/DC line "Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap".
Clampett later returned to animation as a supervising producer on a cartoon series based on the characters of his puppet show Matty's Funnies with Beany and Cecil (1959).Creator of one of the sound effects ("beeowoop") used for end circle iris outs- Sound Department

Originally from London, Ben moved to Hollywood to pursue his dream of creating sounds for feature films. Two decades and nearly 130 films later, Ben is just getting started. Part of a rare breed that is as good at designing sounds as he is at mixing them.
Ben took home the Oscar for Sound Mixing and BAFTA for Sound on the independent film Whiplash (2014). Ben is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and BAFTA. In addition to his Oscar win, Ben cites his proudest professional moments as working with Angelina Jolie on her directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011), and his part in designing sounds for the Academy Award nominated Twister (1996). Not surprisingly, Sergio Leone and his sound mixer, Fausto Ancillai, inspire Ben creatively for the way the Italian filmmakers used sound to selectively push the audience's emotional buttons.
A kid at heart, Wilkins loves to use all the speakers in the theater to help tell a story. Consequently, he is curious about the development of high order Ambisonics sound systems that deliver more channels. Ben explains, "The 3D sound formats provide us a larger, more distinct canvas through which the filmmaker can weave their story."Sound Supervisor- Sound Department
