Mark Mangini is a two time Academy Award winning (Dune, Mad Max Fury Road) and six time nominated Sound Designer known for films including Blade Runner 2049, Star Treks I,IV,&V, The Fifth Element, and Gremlins. He has spent his 45 year career in Hollywood imagining and composing altered sonic realities for motion pictures. He is a frequent lecturer, an outspoken proponent for sound as art and a guitarist/songwriter with compositions in sex, lies and videotape, Star Trek IV, Picard. and others. He is a member of AMPAS, MPSE, SAG, SMPTE, and ASCAP.
"Having grown up a musician, I am avowed of the idea that all organized sound is music. I see my work in movies every bit a composition as those of Beethoven and the Beatles. I just happen to use dissonance, specious melodic content and arrhythmia to its fullest advantage. My works are no less considered, designed, creative or manipulative. They just aren't hummable."
A Boston native, Mark attended Holy Cross College as a foreign language major but could not ignore his love of film and filmmaking. He moved to Los Angeles in 1976 and landed his first job in the entertainment industry in the sound department of Hanna Barbera Studios making funny noises for children's cartoons at the age of 19. "My ears, having been keenly trained by years of language study and playing guitar, suited me well for a career of critical listening and creating unimagined aural worlds and fabricating sonic realities for motion pictures. "
Mark founded and ran Weddington Productions, a successful Hollywood post-production sound company, for 25 years. Today he works at Formosa Group in Hollywood, California continuing his work as a Supervising Sound Editor, Sound Designer and Re-recording mixer.Sound Effects by, Sound Designer, Supervising Sound Editor, Re-Recording Mixer- Sound Department

Vanessa Ament was born in Glendale, California, and raised in the central coast county of San Luis Obispo. She grew up the granddaughter of the early film pioneer Earl L. McMurtrie. Vanessa was a singer and dancer in her youth and performed in many plays and cabaret shows. At Whittier College, she earned a B.A. in Theatre, and after graduation, worked for the Glendale Regional Arts Council as an "Artist-in-the-Schools" in the field of theatre. She "fell" into the work of a Foley Artist by mistake when she auditioned to replace a voice for a film and her accurate sync caught the attention of the mixer, Robert Deschaine and the manager of Gomillion Sound James L. Honore. She started training as a Foley Artist at Gomillion, thinking it would be "a good gig between acting and singing jobs." This fill-in job became her primary career for over twenty years. Along the way, she began voice casting and acting, Foley and ADR editing, and writing and singing her own songs in the L.A. cabaret and jazz scene. In her thirties, Vanessa earned an M.Div. as a Unitarian Universalist at Starr King School for the Ministry, in Berkeley. Vanessa has always loved teaching, and had various stints as a Sound Supervisor for students at AFI and USC, as well as an educator at various schools and colleges, including Cuesta College, in San Luis Obispo, as well as both DePaul University and Columbia College in Chicago. In 2014, she received her Ph.D. in Communication from Georgia State University, and became the Edmund and Virginia Ball Endowed Chair, Professor of Telecommunications at Ball State University. Vanessa has been a member of MPSE, CAS, BMI, AFM, SAG, Equity, Society of Composers and Lyricists, Women in Film, and The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She has won three Golden Reel Certificates for Foley for the films The Dollmaker (1984), Predator (1987), and Die Hard (1988), and has had several nominations for other films. Vanessa has been featured at film festivals, sound festivals and in various publications. From the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s, she published MovieSound Newsletter. Music is Vanessa's true calling and she released her first CD in 2004. The Foley Grail, her first book, was published in 2009, and the second edition was released in 2014. The most challenging thing Vanessa ever did, other than keep the faith that "work would come," was home school her son for seven years.Foley Artist- Sound Department

Richard (Rick) Partlow was born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1948, the youngest of two boys, to Mr and Mrs. James E. Partlow. His Mother, Norma Jane VanDervort, born in 1921, a graduate of Ohio University, was an artist, singer, poet, lyricist, author (under Norma Kalina) and reporter. His Father, James Edwin Partlow, a graduate of North Carolina State University, was a corporate businessman and served as a Captain during World War II in the Army Signal Corps, Intelligence Division.
One year after his birth the family moved to Oakland, California and the at age three to Houston, Texas where Richard was introduced to swimming, boating, water skiing, crabbing and Saturday Morning Serials at the movies like Buck Rogers and Commander Cody. That is where his imagination took root. At age 9 the family moved to Pennsylvania. His parents bought a modest farm house on ten acres a few miles from the village of Chester Springs where Richard attended fifth and sixth grades in a two room school house. Richard graduated at the top of his class of five students. He and older brother, Jamie, attended amid graduated from Downingtown High School, Richard in 1966. Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, 80 miles west of Philadelphis, was idyllic for Richard. No young child or teenager could wish for any greater experience. Friendships were forged that exist to this day. Football, track, gymnastics and swimming took up a lot of his time. But the four seasons of the year held so much more. Summer was rope swings over the swimming hole, a three acre honeysuckle canopied pine forest as his private domain, and a one half acre asparagus patch as his summer cash cow when sold to the local farmers market. Fall was sports, riding horses and roaming the forest . Winter was snow forts, sledding, ice hockey on the local pond and for cash, using his Dads 1948 Jeep with plow to clear snow from the long country lanes. Spring was planting veggie gardens, building homemade go-carts and dreaming of summer.
Richard was somewhat rebellious during his last year of High School so his Father insisted he spend his first year of college at Valley Forge Military Academy Jr. College. From there a year at The University of Miami and a semester at Villanova University which is when Richard joined the Marines. Following his stint in the Marines Richard had no idea of what he wanted to do with his life. During summer breaks in high school and college he spent alot of his time playing guitar, singing and writing music with partner Jim Richards. They played mostly in coffee houses and cafés in Phila. and on the Jersey Shore.
So following the Marines, with his parents divorced, the farm sold, Richard moved back to Philly, working as a bartender, bank teller, retail sales and finally with a detective agency as a flagman on a road crew where he was placed to track stolen equipment. With only two weeks on the job a car stopped. A man and woman got out and asked Richard if he wanted to be in a play at a local community theatre. He got the lead in the play in the role of Tom Lee, in 'Tea and Sympathy'. Richard was hooked. During the limited run of the show he was seen by a producer of a local CBS children's show and signed a one year contract where he played characters in history such as young Ben Franklin and young Thomas Edison.Foley Artist- Sound Department
