Movies I want to see again but can't find them.

by hackraytex | created - 23 Jun 2017 | updated - 28 May 2021 | Public

The title explains itself in that I have seen these movies long ago but they don't seem to be available through any of the sources available today. Pay per view does not count in this list. I hope they turn up eventually.

5. Bunny O'Hare (1971)

GP | 91 min | Comedy

Bunny is a penniless widow who blackmails a robber into teaching her the trade. Soon the pair starts a successful crime spree, and the cops aren't turning a blind eye.

Director: Gerd Oswald | Stars: Bette Davis, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Cassidy, Joan Delaney

Votes: 1,198

Bunny O'Hare is a widow who gets evicted from her house and is broke. Bill Green is blackmailed by her to help her rob banks for money for her two adult children who are sponging off her. They disguise themselves a two hippies, this is 1971, on a motorcycle who rob banks. A very funny comedy that I have not seen since 1971. Only thing that does not work to me is 41 year old John Astin trying to play a hippie in his late 20's. No disrespect to Mr. Astin but he must have needed the money really bad, did this for a hoot, or owed someone a favor to be in this part. Where is it?

6. Jekyll Island (1998)

Not Rated | 91 min | Crime

Burglar Alex Madison goes to Jekyl Island to rob a house. When he is done he finds the island locked down due to an unrelated incident and he cannot get off.

Director: Ken DuPuis | Stars: Don Mogavero, Brion James, Olivia Burnette, Finola Hughes

Votes: 157

An intense movie that I saw once and have never been able to find. Alex Madison, played by Dan Mogavero who also wrote it, is a burglar who successfully makes his theft in an island resort. Afterward, due to an unrelated incident, the island is locked down and he can't get off. I don't know what happened to Dan Mogavero after this but he seems to have dropped out of the business. This was the third of only three movies that he was in. The only actor I recognize is the the late Brion James. The movie held my attention from beginning to end and it would be great to see it again.

Thank you. I bought it on Amazon.

7. The Apostle (1997)

Director: Robert Duvall | Stars: Robert Duvall, Todd Allen, Paul Bagget, Lenore Banks

Votes: 14,902 | Gross: $20.73M

A movie that Robert Duvall produced himself because among other things he wanted to give an accurate portrayal of the culture of the Pentecostal faith. He portrays a Pentecostal minister who falls and the path he takes to obtain redemption. When interviewed, he said he sought technical input from Pentecostal ministers to present a fair portrayal of his character.

Tim Tomerson is a cop from another planet where everyone is about 12" tall. He has come to earth to to catch a criminal from his world. One of those out of the box science fiction movies that I enjoy.

11. Time After Time (1979)

PG | 112 min | Adventure, Drama, Sci-Fi

69 Metascore

Director: Nicholas Meyer | Stars: Malcolm McDowell, Mary Steenburgen, David Warner, Charles Cioffi

Votes: 20,646

Jack The Ripper steals H. G. Well's time machine and goes to modern day Los Angeles. The time machine goes back to H. G. Wells and he follows Jack The Ripper to try to stop him. Malcolm McDowell plays H. G. Wells very well and it is amusing to see how he adapts to 1979 Los Angeles.

12. Dark Angel (1990)

Votes: 13,856 | Gross: $4.35M

This is another off beat science fiction movie where Dolph Lundgren is a Houston vice cop who is finding dead people all over Houston. It looks like they OD'ed until he finds out, I think, that none were drug users and the drugs were pumped into them by a drug addicted alien that must do it this way to get his fix. Also, marketed as "I Come In Peace".

Note: 24 MY 2021 I just saw it on Screenflix.

13. Fear Is the Key (1972)

Director: Michael Tuchner | Stars: Barry Newman, Suzy Kendall, John Vernon, Dolph Sweet

Votes: 2,270

A very suspenseful movie made and had me on the edge of my seat to see how it would end. Barry Neuman was topnotch and this and The Salzburg Connection should have enabled his career in the movies to get off to a good start. He has had a very successful career in TV and the movies but none of his parts were like these.

14. Walk Like a Dragon (1960)

Approved | 95 min | Drama, Western

In 1870s California, cowboy Lincoln 'Linc' Bartlett finds out there's a slave auction of Chinese women in San Francisco and he intervenes and purchases Kim Sung from the auction with the ... See full summary »

Director: James Clavell | Stars: Jack Lord, Nobu McCarthy, James Shigeta, Mel Tormé

Votes: 164

Before he found fame as Steve MaGarrett, Jack Lord was a very accomplished actor in westerns. This little jewel is how he reluctantly "buys" a woman brought from China so she will be safe from abuse. He takes her home and the townspeople are not pleased. Another bit of unique casting is Mel Torme' as a local gunfighter who is making a name for himself taking on all comers to the point of taunting other gunfighters to try to beat him. You will be surprised in the end how he learned his trade. I watched this for the first time in 55 years and have had to make some corrections. This is still worth watching if you can find it.

26 MY 2021 I watched it today on Youtube and was not disappointed at all.

15. Caltiki, the Immortal Monster (1959)

Directors: Riccardo Freda, Mario Bava | Stars: John Merivale, Didi Sullivan, Gérard Herter, Giacomo Rossi Stuart

Votes: 1,619

A movie somewhat like The Blob as I can remember. I have always been a fan of science fiction and saw this movie in the early 1960's. Where is it?

Note:24 MY 2021. I saw it on Youtube.

16. El corazón de la tierra (2007)

107 min | Drama, Romance

Tensions mount in an Andalusia mining town between local Spanish workers and their British employers.

Director: Antonio Cuadri | Stars: Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sienna Guillory, Philip Winchester, Bernard Hill

Votes: 276

This movie in in the list as an exception for the criteria of this list and my criteria of all of my lists. I have seen parts of this movie but have never been able to rent or run it on any of the sites available to me. It is set in Spain in the early 1900's and shows an open pit mining company that even for that time is very abusive to their workers. The daughter, niece, or whatever comes home from university and decides to lead an uprising to force the owner to change his ways. This movie was made in 2007 but it is the most difficult movie to obtain that I have ever experienced. I guess it has never been released in the United States.

It is 2021 and I still have not found it.

17. Let's Get Harry (1986)

R | 102 min | Action, Adventure

When Colombian revolutionaries kidnap an American engineer, his brother and friends, faced with official inaction, hire a mercenary and mount the rescue operation themselves.

Director: Stuart Rosenberg | Stars: Michael Schoeffling, Tom Wilson, Fidel Abrego, Jere Burns

Votes: 1,550 | Gross: $0.14M

Among other performers is Gary Busey at his best as a crazy loon and also Glenn Frey. Harry is locked up in a Latin American prison and a group of plumbers who are his friends head south to break him out. As I can remember, they have limited experience in this operation and Busey is a local hot shot car salesman that invites himself along. Another on that is hard to find.

18. Five Days from Home (1978)

PG | 108 min | Action, Crime, Drama

A man escapes from a Louisiana prison to be at the California hospital bedside of his ailing son.

Director: George Peppard | Stars: Sherry Boucher, Neville Brand, Victor Campos, Robert Donner

Votes: 161

The name and the plot tells it all. I saw it on TV one time and have never seen it again. George Peppard is on the run from escaping prison in Louisiana to get to LA because his son is in the hospital. I will slightly spoil it here in that while on the run, Peppard finds a stray dog and takes it with him. He and the dog are cornered on a bridge by police on both ends. He jumps into the water and when he comes up, the dog is riding on his back as he swims to freedom. A must see if you can find it.

28 MY 2021 I saw it today on youtube

19. Dead Men Can't Dance (1997)

R | 97 min | Action, Drama

Directors: Stephen Milburn Anderson, Hubert de La Bouillerie | Stars: Michael Biehn, Mark Edward Anderson, Adrian Paul, Kathleen York

Votes: 565

I caught this movie at the tail end. It seemed interesting but I have never been able to find it

I recently saw the entire movie and was not disappointed.
