Keen Eddie is an hour-long “dramedy“. Eddie Arlette (Mark Valley), a New York City police detective, is sent to London on the trail of criminals that escaped from a failed drug bust. A tip leads the police to believe that the criminals went to England. Complicating matters, Eddie's girlfriend dumps him right before he leaves, and he is responsible for a dog, which he takes with him to London. While "temporarily" in London, Eddie is teamed up with Monty Pipin (Julian Rhind-Tutt), and reports to Superintendent Nathanial Jonhnson (Colin Salmon). It was the most talked about Sports show when it was airing because of its harsh and shocking "realism" of the National Football League behind the scenes. The only season of the show finished its season all the way to the end before the show was cancelled for its negitive view of Professional football. Drug deals, sex scandals, and even a little bit of football thrown into the mix makes for an exciting drama series from ESPN. - CreatorBrandon CampMike ThompsonStarsDominic PurcellJayne BrookJohn Marshall JonesA man who seems to know everything but his own name helps police solve crimes as he searches for his identity.YEAR: 2002
Episodes: 21
Network: FOX
Stars: DOMINIC PURCELL, WILLIAM FORSYTHE, JAYNE BROOK & JOHN MARSHALL-JONES
The series is about the life of John Doe, a mysterious man who rises from the primordial waters of an isolated island, possessing knowledge of literally everything in the world, yet having no memory of who -- or even what -- he is. Doe quickly finds his way to Seattle, where he befriends the police and uses his special gift to help them solve "impossible" crimes each week, while continuing his unending quest to uncover who he is and where he came from. Despite his considerable charm, Doe is an emotional island unto himself. Want to know the population of Peru in 1853? How many blue cars there are in the state of Washington? Or better yet, predict which horse will win every race at the track based on knowing all the variables? Doe has all the answers. But what is he like? Family man or loner? Hero or villain? What is truly in his soul? Doe doesn't have a clue. In his search to unlock the key to his past, He may be a government agent, an extra-terrestrial or perhaps just a regular John Doe with a bout of amnesia. Whatever secrets his past holds, Doe is now the man who knows everything -- a gift that will forever change his destiny. - CreatorJason SmilovicStarsChristian SlaterMike O'MalleySaffron BurrowsHenry Spivey, an efficiency expert, lives a typical suburban life, right down to the wife, two kids, dog, and minivan. Episodes: 13
Network: FOX
Stars: PETER HORTON, LORI PETTY & JOHN GLOVER
I was a cop. My wife was raped, I caught the guy who did it, and I killed him. Two months later I died, and went to Hell. 113 of the most vile creature escaped. The high concept of this story is that Detective Ezekial Stone was sent to Hell for the murder of his wife's rapist. He spends 15 years in Hell, until 113 souls managed to escape. The Devil needs someone to send them back to Hell, but can't do much on the physical plane. So he sends Ezekial after them, with the promise that if Stone recovers all 113, he'll win permanent freedom from Hell. And if he fails, he's damned for good. All of the escapees as well as Stone are supernaturally indestructible, except they can inflict pain on each other. The only way to send someone back to Hell is to destroy their eyes, the "windows of the soul." Worse, some of the escapees spent centuries, if not millennia, in Hell and have developed great power - little of which Stone, a relatively recent prisoner, has himself. Each week, with a little help (and the occasional hindrance) from the Devil, Stone typically tracks down another of the escapees and sends them back to Hell. He is tattoed with the names of each one, and when he sends them back the appropriate tattoo burns itself off. Meanwhile, Stone's ex-wife still believes him dead, but Stone can't resist checking in on her from time to time. - CreatorManny CotoStarsPeter WellerSebastian RochéChristopher GorhamAfter witnessing the sudden implosion of Earth from orbit, a group of five Odyssey astronauts is sent five years back in time by an alien force to find the cause and prevent the disaster. Episodes: 26
Network: ABC
Stars: VAN WILLIAMS & BRUCE LEE
The Green Hornet debuted shortly after the 1966 Batman TV Series and was produced by the same company. Whereas Batman was known for its heavy camp and semi-comedic storytelling, The Green Hornet took a more serious and realistic approach to masked crimefighting. However, this may have hurt the show as Batman is easily recalled by many for the outlandish villains such as the Joker and the Riddler, but The Green Hornet featured the protagonists battling against various "normal" criminals with no odd gimmicks. Despite only lasting one season, The Green Hornet has amassed a cult following, most likely because of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, who made his American television debut on the show. "Another challenge for the Green Hornet, his aide Kato, and their rolling arsenal, the Black Beauty. On police record, a wanted criminal, The Green Hornet is really Britt Reid, owner/publisher of The Daily Sentinel. His dual identity known only to his secretary and to the District Attorney. And now, to protect the rights and lives of decent citizens rides the Green Hornet!" -Narration from the opening credits - CreatorJohn McNamaraDavid SimkinsStarsMichael MadsenKathleen YorkScott PattersonThe mysterious Mr. Chapel helps others to gain vengeance against criminals.YEAR: 1998
Episodes: 16
Network: ABC
Stars: MICHAEL MADSEN, KATHLEEN YORK, STEPHEN TOBOLOWSKY & JAMES COBURN
When people can kill someone you love and get a book deal out of it -- just because they hire the right lawyer or an acting teacher who teaches them to cry on camera -- who can you turn to? Mr. Chapel (Michael Madsen), of course! He will help you get your revenge with both charm and finality. There´s no killing involved. He just turns the tables on the bullies, often using their own tactics against them. The only problem is the fee. He charges one million dollars.
If you can't afford the fee, you can help him to help others. Mr. Chapel's past is unknown, but obviously something horrible happened to him and his family. His tragic history is slowly revealed in piecemeal fashion over the course of the show. KC Griffin is his friend, a former client and a beginner when it comes to the fine art of revenge, but she is a quick study. She provides balance to Chapel's quirky character.
This well-written series, though short-lived, was intelligent, exciting and funny. "Vengeance Unlimited" was cancelled prematurely because it aired against powerhouse shows like "Friends". Some critics claimed that the show was too violent and that Mr. Chapel's actions blurred the concepts of right and wrong. The critics, however, may have missed the point that this was black humor, if in an extreme form. "Vengeance Unlimited" offered its fans a true guilty pleasure: exciting, fast-paced entertainment and the vicarious thrill of watching the bad guys get what they deserve. - CreatorShane SalernoDon WinslowStarsOded FehrJon SedaVera FarmigaAs a federal team, the group responds to emergencies all over the country: taking down elite bank robbers, drug kingpins, domestic terrorists, spies, jewel thieves, and corrupt cops. "To catch a criminal, you have to become one..." "From the co-writer of Shaft and Armageddon comes this complex action-thriller which focuses on the secret lives and private demons of an elite Justice Department crimefighting unit that confronts the country's deadliest, most untouchable lawbreakers by going undercover to bust them. The unit is headed by authoritative Donovan (Oded Fehr) and comprised of undercover agents Jake Shaw (Jon Seda) and Alex Cross (Vera Farmiga), psychological profiler Monica Davis (Bruklin Harris) and young techno-wizard Cody (Jarrad Paul), who runs all of the high-tech surveillance operations that the team conducts. As a federal team, the group can respond to emergencies all over the country -- taking down elite bank robbers, drug kingpins, domestic terrorists, spies, jewel thieves and dirty cops. The drama's character-driven storylines will emphasize the taut, cat-and-mouse game played by the undercover agents as they attempt to infiltrate the lives of a gallery of criminals, including murderous master thief Jack 'Sonny' Walker (William Forsythe) and imprisoned drug lord Carlos Cortez (Steven Bauer, in a recurring role). The series also explores the psychological toll undercover work takes on the agents who play this deadly game of false identities and who commit treachery as a daily profession. Watch without being seen, listen without being heard, and seduce without being seduced—that's what this team of agents and experts does as it uses cutting-edge technology to surveil criminals and extraordinary courage and skill to take them off the streets. The team often butts heads with Paul Bloom (Brian Markinson), their obstructive and fiercely ambitious, career-climbing Justice Department boss." - CreatorPaul ZbyszewskiStarsTaye DiggsMoon BloodgoodVictoria PrattToday Detective Brett Hopper will be accused of shooting state attorney Alberto Garza.
