So I watched Blade Runner 2049... In the golden age of television, the edgy, innovative and bold content seems to be reserved for the small screen. On the silver screen we only see the safe bets, in the big budget department anyways. The notable R-rated exceptions are Deadpool and Logan, which I both loved. But even those were much more digestable and mainstream than BR2049... and they were cheaper. Deadpool had a measly budget of 58 millions and Logan comes in at 97. BR2049 on the other hand had a full blown 155+ blockbuster budget with A-lister actors, one of the hottest directors around and the touch of the Ridley Scott himself.
It is almost impossible to make a sequel to a cult classic. Sometimes, the most you can expect is that the legacy won't be ruined. I cannot think of another example where the result exceeds the expectations to such a degree as it was the case with BR2049.
It really feels like no compromises were made. The word they (re-)create is stunning. True to itself but grander than ever before. The use of models and practical effects instead of heavily relying on CGI ensures that you dont doubt its authenticity. Most importantly they stayed true to the genre. It would have been so easy to make a sci-fi action movie, but BR2049 is not that, it is a detective noir story with the dystopian future merely as a backdrop. A detective story that btw also tackles the biggest philosophical questions in existence.
The movie is really something special, not just because it is really, really good, but because it exists. Even if the studio will regret making it, because it will not earn it a profit margin they are used to from such investments, it does exist now, and nothing will change that. A big budget, high production value, well written, visually stunning masterpiece that uses all of it almost three hours not to take you on a wild ride but to lead you on a journey that continues long after you leave the theatre. - Micha (Denmark)
4 Stars, it was way too long and way too boring, much like the first film - Harriet (Australia)
Wow, i am sure this is one of the best Movies of the Year - Daniel! (Germany)

And a fresh change of perspective on the male-dominated action genre. - Markus (Germany) - DirectorJake KasdanStarsDwayne JohnsonKaren GillanKevin HartFour teenagers are sucked into a magical video game, and the only way they can escape is to work together to finish the game.8,66 Stars
Jumanji was surprisingly entertaining! The skills of the actors totally made up for the lack of this shallow story + a remake of it. It was fun to watch Jack Black act in a role again, where he was able to show his skill! The Rock was nice and sweet to watch, Kevin Hart cracks you up, and Karen Gillan is a talented beauty. Wouldn‘t watch it again though, but a nice suprise! - Jenny (Germany)
but the Rock and Kevin Hart and Jack Black...amazingness. - Panda (USA) - DirectorRian JohnsonStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaMark HamillRey develops her abilities with the help of Luke Skywalker, as the Resistance prepares for battle against the First Order.8,62 Stars
(Do not worry - no spoilers) In fact, Episode 8 surprised me a lot. There were many storylines, lots of information - but with a clear, red thread. I particularly liked the character development of Kylo Ren and that you saw more of him. Besides, I liked that Luke was so sassy; also the many jokes reminded me of the old episodes. Sound and music were on fleek.
Episode 8 convinces (unlike 7) with its own story, great characters and even prettier Princess Leia - Anna (Germany)
I was blown away. First had to let the whole movie sag, because some information. But the more I think about it, the more I like it :) - Sarah (Germany)
It was good, was a lot of fun. Not everything was great though, feels really long. But Lets say Luke Skywalker has never been this good before - Daniel (Germany)

6 stars for the film and an extra 2 star for Peter Parker. He is annoying, too curious, puberty-like Spidi. Well done Sony! And sorry Tobi and Andrew - the one is too old and the other too cool! - Sarah (Germany)
i was actually surprised by how well this one was done. It involves 15 year olds and i think they stayed age appropriate (no sexual romance) and kept the humor to a minimum. - Panda (USA)
