"Do I need to see the first one first?"
The answer is NO. I didn't and I had a blast watching this action masterpiece that shows Hollywood blockbusters how fight scenes should be done. Also action scenes. Actually... ALL scenes. - DirectorKurt WimmerStarsChristian BaleSean BeanEmily WatsonIn an oppressive future where all forms of feeling are illegal, a man in charge of enforcing the law rises to overthrow the system and state. We were all so busy watching poorly made Matrix sequels, that some of us missed this gem, when it first came out. Action and style-wise it is on pair with the original Matrix. And it also has a very compelling story.
- DirectorBong Joon HoStarsChris EvansJamie BellTilda SwintonIn a future where a failed climate change experiment has killed all life except for the survivors who boarded the Snowpiercer (a train that travels around the globe), a new class system emerges.I watched this movie almost by accident. I feel like it had no marketing whatsoever. If you missed it, check it out.
- DirectorBen WheatleyStarsTom HiddlestonJeremy IronsSienna MillerLife for the residents of a tower block begins to run out of control. If you are looking for something "different" to watch, this is a good choice. In some sense similar to Snowpiercer, but then again in a league of it's own.
- DirectorDamián SzifronStarsDarío GrandinettiMaría MarullMónica VillaSix short stories that explore the extremities of human behavior involving people in distress. This is one of those movies that you surely didn't watch if no one recommended it. So I recommend it. :) It's also on my top 20 list, so there is a reason I'm recommending it.

Also, there is a part 2. - DirectorRobert De NiroStarsRobert De NiroChazz PalminteriLillo BrancatoAn intense drama about a boy torn between his tough, hard-working father and a violent yet charismatic crime boss.Amid all the classic mafia flicks from the 90s, most of us missed this great little movie, directed by Robert De Niro himself.
- DirectorTarsem SinghStarsLee PaceCatinca UntaruJustine WaddellIn 1920s Los Angeles, a bedridden patient in a hospital captivates a young girl with a fantastic tale of heroes, myths, and villains on a desert island. If you want your mind blown by visual perfection for 2 hours, watch this.
- DirectorMike JudgeStarsLuke WilsonMaya RudolphDax ShepardCorporal Joe Bauers, a decidedly average American, is selected for a top-secret hibernation program but is forgotten and left to awaken to a future so incredibly moronic that he's easily the most intelligent person alive. You might have skipped this one for it's name or it's cast suggesting it will be a dumb comedy. But you couldn't be more wrong. It's a genius piece of satire, that has since amassed a cult following. And it could not be any more relevant right now, than it ever was.
- DirectorDrew GoddardStarsKristen ConnollyChris HemsworthAnna HutchisonA group of kids go to a remote cabin in the woods where their fate is unknowingly controlled by technicians as part of a world-wide conspiracy where all horror movie clichés are revealed to be part of an elaborate sacrifice ritual. Are you not really a horror fan? Neither am I, but I loved this. Because it's meant for people like me. It makes fun of the genre, but at the same time, remains true to it.
- DirectorJon S. BairdStarsJames McAvoyJamie BellEddie MarsanA corrupt, junkie cop with bipolar disorder attempts to manipulate his way through a promotion in order to win back his wife and daughter while also fighting his own inner demons. Some movies just can't afford a massive marketing campaign. But if you are someone who has yet to discover their genius, then start here! And then move to all of the other movies they starred in together.
- DirectorPark Chan-wookStarsChoi Min-sikYoo Ji-taeKang Hye-jeongAfter being kidnapped and imprisoned for fifteen years, Oh Dae-Su is released, only to find that he must track down his captor in five days.Another movie that is on my to 20. If you rarely stray from the Hollywood machine, you may not have crossed paths with this one yet. Or worse, you only heard about the remake. Or even worse, watched the remake. Well, forget about that and watch the original.
- DirectorGuy RitchieStarsJason StathamBrad PittStephen GrahamUnscrupulous boxing promoters, violent bookmakers, a Russian gangster, incompetent amateur robbers and supposedly Jewish jewelers fight to track down a priceless stolen diamond. If you belong to a younger generation, you might not know there was an era of great British crime flicks around the break of millennium. Watch it! - DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsMark WahlbergJulianne MooreBurt ReynoldsBack when sex was safe, pleasure was a business and business was booming, an idealistic porn producer aspires to elevate his craft to an art when he discovers a hot young talent. This is one of those "How the hell did I miss a movie this big" situations. I know many people who never heard of it and that's amazing, since it's one of those grand stories made in the 90s. Like Goodfellas meets Pulp fiction, but with less shooting and more porn.
- DirectorAndrej KosakStarsMartin MarionUrska HlebecNikola KojoSet in socialist Yugoslavia in 1986, a humble and diligent factory worker falls into a 10-year shock right at his working place. He wakes up from coma in hospital in 1996 capitalist Slovenia, only to find out that he's left without job as being redundant.I always include a Slovenian movie on my list and this is one I'm sure most Slovenians completely missed. But it's greatly entertaining and a good image of the transition phase from Yugoslavia to Slovenia.
- DirectorEmir KusturicaStarsBajram SeverdzanSrdjan 'Zika' TodorovicBranka KaticMatko and his son Zare live on the banks of the Danube river and get by through hustling and basically doing anything to make a living.
