The train makes a short stop to be refilled with water. When it continues, the train driver suddenly sees a cat between the rails. He blows the hooter, but the cat doesn't move. When the train has passed, the cat is still between the rails, but unharmed. Some passengers are reading books and newspapers. The boy is reading Donald Duck. After a while he falls asleep. The machinery slows down. The train stops and the passengers get off.
