- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellEllen SandweissRichard DeManincorFive friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons. The one that started it all. You take a basic plot of 5 people going away to have in a cabin out in the woods. Next thing you know, someone stumbles upon a certain book and then all hell breaks loose. This film combine horror, gore, laughs, and solid production to create a cult classic. Once the craziness starts, it never lets up! There are a lot of tongue-in-cheek moments that make this horror film standout from the rest in the 1980s. It's intense and it keeps you on the edge of your seat as the crazy events take place. This never gets old!
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellSarah BerryDan HicksAsh Williams, the lone survivor of an earlier onslaught of flesh-possessing spirits, holes up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack. Now here is a case where you can argue that this is better than the first film. I tend to love this one more, but at times, I go back and forth between the first two. I will officially say I love the first 2 Evil Deads the same. This film takes everything that the first film has, but adds a lot more comedy. You will laugh a ton and this is the movie where Ash becomes the notorious cult hero that we know and love. Yeah, Ash was real good in the first, but here is where Ash shines. So many great moments and quotes as well as blood and solid horror. Great special effects as well has made this another cult classic. Again, you will never grow tired of this!
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellEmbeth DavidtzMarcus GilbertWhen Ash Williams is accidentally transported to 1300 A.D., he must retrieve the Necronomicon and battle an army of the dead in order to return home. The third and final chapter of the great trilogy. This film expands more on the humor that was started in Evil Dead 2 and just goes absolutely nuts with it. Again, a ton of great quotes mixed in with tons laughs and some good action. When this film ends, you want more and it is just insane that there was never a fourth film in this awesome franchise. I don't like this one as much as the first two, but it is still a fantastic film that is always worth a watch!
- DirectorFede AlvarezStarsJane LevyShiloh FernandezJessica LucasFive friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods. This is the remake that everyone was wondering "why?" I was among many Evil Dead fans who initially rejected the idea of a remake. Then, Raimi, Campbell, and Tapert helped produce it. We then find out it's all practical effects with very little to no CGI effects. All I can say is, this movie is a modern gory masterpiece! Tons of blood. Tons of insanity. Tons of adrenaline. This movie does the right thing! It doesn't try to be a poor imitation of the original. There is no Ash which I like as that means this has surprises. Jane Levy is tremendous in her performance and this movie is destined to be a cult classic. Again, another film that will stick with you and you will want to watch it again and again! Don't make the mistake of trying to hope for a copy of the original like some people have. Enjoy for the insane gore and the craziness that takes place. One of the best horror remakes because it did its own thing and didn't try to copy the original. It does nod or wink at the original, but that is fine. Don't dismiss this one!
