- DirectorJames CameronStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerLinda HamiltonMichael BiehnA human soldier is sent from 2029 to 1984 to stop an almost indestructible cyborg killing machine, sent from the same year, which has been programmed to execute a young woman whose unborn son is the key to humanity's future salvation. The first movie I recall seeing or have any memories of. This, together with Conan the Barbarian, sealed my love for Schwarzenegger movies.
- DirectorMatt ReevesStarsMike VogelJessica LucasLizzy CaplanA group of friends venture deep into the streets of New York on a rescue mission during a rampaging monster attack.Nice one, loses some charm at the end, when it becomes pretty standard monster movie.
- DirectorRobert RodriguezStarsRose McGowanFreddy RodríguezJosh BrolinAfter an experimental bio-weapon is released, turning thousands into zombie-like creatures, it's up to a rag-tag group of survivors to stop the infected and those behind its release.Out of the two Grindhouse movies, I like this one more.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsKurt RussellZoë BellRosario DawsonTwo separate sets of voluptuous women are stalked at different times by a scarred stuntman who uses his "death proof" cars to execute his murderous plans. Not as good as Planet Terror and not Tarantino's greatest moments all together, but still entertaining.
- DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsTom CruiseJon VoightEmmanuelle BéartAn American agent, under false suspicion of disloyalty, must discover and expose the real spy without the help of his organization.Pretty average action flick. The famous breaking-in scene is awesome.
- DirectorJohn WooStarsTom CruiseDougray ScottThandiwe NewtonIMF agent Ethan Hunt is sent to Sydney to find and destroy a genetically modified disease called "Chimera".Saw this one in theaters. Nice no-brainer action fun. Badass soundtrack.
- DirectorRoger CormanStarsJonathan HazeJackie JosephMel WellesA clumsy young man working at an impoverished flower shop discovers that the strange plant he has been nurturing has an insatiable appetite for blood, forcing him to kill to feed it.Funny how it's now marketed as Nicholson movie, though his role is actually pretty small.
- DirectorFrank OzStarsRick MoranisEllen GreeneVincent GardeniaA nerdy florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.I also saw a musical theater version of this around 2003. The movie itself I haven't seen in ages.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerLinda HamiltonEdward FurlongA cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her ten year old son John from an even more advanced and powerful cyborg. One of the best action movies ever made. I personally like the first one even more.
If you watch the director's cut, you can't watch the normal theatrical release ever again. - DirectorJonathan MostowStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerNick StahlKristanna LokenA machine from a post-apocalyptic future travels back in time to protect a man and a woman from an advanced robotic assassin to ensure they both survive a nuclear attack.Saw this one at the premier. I knew it couldn't possibly be as good as T2, but the action scenes were satisfyingly entertaining. The plot itself was just... meh.
- DirectorRobert RodriguezStarsCarlos GallardoConsuelo GómezJaime de HoyosA traveling mariachi is mistaken for a murderous criminal and must hide from a gang bent on killing him.Don't remember much of this one. Should watch it again sometime soon.
- DirectorRobert RodriguezStarsAntonio BanderasSalma HayekJoaquim de AlmeidaFormer musician and gunslinger El Mariachi arrives at a small Mexican border town after being away for a long time. His past quickly catches up with him and he soon gets entangled with the local drug kingpin Bucho and his gang.I like Rodriguez's style. Good action film.
- DirectorRobert RodriguezStarsAntonio BanderasSalma HayekJohnny DeppHitman "El Mariachi" becomes involved in international espionage involving a psychotic CIA agent and a corrupt Mexican general.Depp is awesome as (almost) always.
- DirectorPark Chan-wookStarsChoi Min-sikYoo Ji-taeKang Hye-jeongAfter being kidnapped and imprisoned for fifteen years, Oh Dae-Su is released, only to find that he must track down his captor in five days.Haven't seen that many korean movies, but this one is great!
- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsTom HanksRobin WrightGary SiniseThe history of the United States from the 1950s to the '70s unfolds from the perspective of an Alabama man with an IQ of 75, who yearns to be reunited with his childhood sweetheart. One of the best movies of all time. Tom Hanks in the role of his lifetime. Like all the little details as years go by. Some of the special effects look a little outdated now, but that doesn't bother.
- DirectorWolfgang PetersenStarsBrad PittEric BanaOrlando BloomAn adaptation of Homer's great epic, the film follows the assault on Troy by the united Greek forces and chronicles the fates of the men involved. Not bad, not that great either. No-brainer, fun action.
- DirectorMichael BayStarsSean ConneryNicolas CageEd HarrisA mild-mannered chemist and an ex-con must lead the counterstrike when a rogue group of military men, led by a renegade general, threaten a nerve gas attack from Alcatraz against San Francisco.Sean Connery with long hair looks totally badass!
- DirectorPenelope SpheerisStarsMike MyersDana CarveyRob LoweTwo slacker friends try to promote their public-access cable show.Excellent!
- DirectorStephen SurjikStarsMike MyersDana CarveyChristopher WalkenThe inseparable duo try to organize a rock concert while Wayne must fend off a record producer who has an eye for his girlfriend.Even better than the first one. Yeah it recycles some jokes from the first movie, but not too much. And with all cameos and stuff, it's just a really fun movie.
- DirectorFrancis Ford CoppolaStarsMartin SheenMarlon BrandoRobert DuvallA U.S. Army officer serving in Vietnam is tasked with assassinating a renegade Special Forces Colonel who sees himself as a god.Saw the Redux-version in theaters. I remember that about halfway through the movie I had the urge to go to the bathroom, but just couldn't leave my seat.
The best Nam-flick out of the three greatest (this, FMJ and Platoon), in my opinion. - DirectorOliver StoneStarsCharlie SheenTom BerengerWillem DafoeChris Taylor, a neophyte recruit in Vietnam, finds himself caught in a battle of wills between two sergeants, one good and the other evil. A shrewd examination of the brutality of war and the duality of man in conflict.Haven't seen this one as many times as Apocalypse or FMJ, but great movie nonetheless!
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsMorgan FreemanBrad PittKevin SpaceyTwo detectives, a rookie and a veteran, hunt a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as his motives. The atmosphere is just killer. Great film! Pitt is such a versatile actor. And Freeman is always cool.
- DirectorNeil JordanStarsBrad PittTom CruiseAntonio BanderasA vampire tells his epic life story: love, betrayal, loneliness, and hunger.First thing I knew about this movie was that Guns n' Roses did Sympathy for the Devil for it's soundtrack (I am/was a huge GN'R fan).
I like this movie a lot, one of the best performances of Tom Cruise. Pitt is also good as always. - DirectorTim BurtonStarsMichael KeatonJack NicholsonKim BasingerThe Dark Knight of Gotham City begins his war on crime with his first major enemy being Jack Napier, a criminal who becomes the clownishly homicidal Joker. The best Batman movie ever.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsMichael KeatonDanny DeVitoMichelle PfeifferWhile Batman deals with a deformed man calling himself the Penguin wreaking havoc across Gotham with the help of a cruel businessman, a female employee of the latter becomes the Catwoman with her own vendetta.Even darker than the first Burton Batman, but I like darkness. Not as great as the first one, but still probably the second best of all Batman films. De Vito's Penguin is even more evil than Joker was.
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsVal KilmerTommy Lee JonesJim CarreyBatman must battle former district attorney Harvey Dent, who is now Two-Face and Edward Nygma, The Riddler with help from an amorous psychologist and a young circus acrobat who becomes his sidekick, Robin.Yeah, Schumacher pretty much ruined Batman with his movies. This one has it's moments thought and is still watchable and has some of the dark tones left that Burton had. Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face is awful, but Carrey saves with being... himself.
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerGeorge ClooneyChris O'DonnellBatman and Robin try to keep their relationship together even as they must stop Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy from freezing Gotham City.I don't have to make any more jokes about this one, everyone already knows it sucks! But it's entertainingly bad with all those ice-puns of Arnold. The Nostalgia Critic's review is actually funnier and better than the actual movie!
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsMichael DouglasRobert DuvallBarbara HersheyAn ordinary man frustrated with the various flaws he sees in society begins to psychotically and violently lash out against them.I love this one! Even though it's pretty "slow" movie and pretty much nothing happens for the most part, Douglas is perfect in his D-Fens guy role that it saves the whole package.
- DirectorMel BrooksStarsMel BrooksJohn CandyRick MoranisA star-pilot for hire and his trusty sidekick must come to the rescue of a princess and save Planet Druidia from the clutches of the evil Spaceballs.Has lost some of it's charm over the years, but still manages to entertain. And it's still the best Mel Brooks movie. And of the movies that I quote the most in real life.
- 19641h 35mPG8.4 (519K)97MetascoreDirectorStanley KubrickStarsPeter SellersGeorge C. ScottSterling HaydenAn unhinged American general orders a bombing attack on the Soviet Union, triggering a path to nuclear holocaust that a war room full of politicians and generals frantically tries to stop. One of my favourite Kubrick films. Hilarious!
- DirectorRidley ScottStarsTom CruiseMia SaraTim CurryA young man must stop the Lord of Darkness from destroying daylight and marrying the woman he loves. One of my childhood favourites.
- DirectorChristophe GansStarsRadha MitchellLaurie HoldenSean BeanA woman, Rose, goes in search for her adopted daughter within the confines of a strange, desolate town called Silent Hill.Saw this one in theaters. The end could've been better, but for a movie based on videogame, it's pretty well done and actually good.
- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsJack NicholsonShelley DuvallDanny LloydA family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future.I was somewhere between 11 and 13 years old when I first saw this one. My favourite Kubrick film. The naked old lady in the shower scene still gives me the creeps. Nicholson is just amazing in this.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsJake GyllenhaalJamie FoxxLucas BlackA psychological study of Marine's state of mind during the Gulf War. Told through the eyes of a U.S. Marine sniper who struggles to cope with boredom, a sense of isolation, and other issues back home.Well actually, I haven't seen the whole film yet... But I have it in my DVD-collection, so I oughta watch it sometime soon!
- DirectorFrank MillerQuentin TarantinoRobert RodriguezStarsMickey RourkeClive OwenBruce WillisAn exploration of the dark and miserable Basin City and three of its residents, all of whom are caught up in violent corruption.Visually stunning with some awesome casting and performances. Love the atmosphere. One of the movies you should watch on a big screen. Luckily I did.
- DirectorOliver StoneStarsVal KilmerMeg RyanKyle MacLachlanThe story of the famous and influential 1960s rock band The Doors and its lead singer and composer, Jim Morrison, from his days as a UCLA film student in Los Angeles, to his untimely death in Paris, France at age 27 in 1971.Val Kilmer is great as Morrison. This and Walk the Line are my favourites of this genre.
- DirectorRobert KurtzmanStarsTammy LaurenAndrew DivoffAngus ScrimmA demonic djinn attempts to grant its owner three wishes, which will allow him to summon his brethren to Earth.Pretty forgettable. Englund is probably the only reason to watch this.
- DirectorJames MangoldStarsJoaquin PhoenixReese WitherspoonGinnifer GoodwinA chronicle of country music legend Johnny Cash's life, from his early days on an Arkansas cotton farm to his rise to fame with Sun Records in Memphis, where he recorded alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins.Love this one! Phoenix and Witherspoon did amazing job. And the music is awesome, of course!
- DirectorSteve BarronStarsJudith HoagElias KoteasJosh PaisFour teenage mutant ninja turtles emerge from the shadows to protect New York City from a gang of criminal ninjas.Radical! I was sooooo hooked on Turtles as a kid. Actually, still am! This is defenitely the best live action treatment Turtles got.
- DirectorMichael PressmanStarsPaige TurcoDavid WarnerMichelan SistiThe Turtles discover their origins while they endeavour to save New York City from the evil Shredder and his Foot Clan.I actually saw this way after I saw the first and the third movies. Probably a little too late, so I didn't find this as good as the other two. And at this age it has kinda slipped into the "so bad it's good" category. I mean, Vanilla Ice! And the lamest boss fight EVER!
- DirectorStuart GillardStarsElias KoteasPaige TurcoStuart WilsonWhen journalist April O'Neil discovers an ancient scepter with magical powers, the Turtles must cow-a-bunga their way back to 17th century Japan to rescue her from the evil clutches of Lord Norinaga. To be honest I like this movie more than the second one. Probably because I saw this one as a kid and was so hardcore Turtles fan that I didn't care how bad it actually is.
Well, of course now I can see all the flaws and whatnot, but it still has that nostalgic value that the second one doesn't. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleMichael CaineKen WatanabeAfter witnessing his parents' death, Bruce learns the art of fighting to confront injustice. When he returns to Gotham as Batman, he must stop a secret society that intends to destroy the city.It took some time before I decided to give this movie a chance. I was so into Burton's treatment and still shocked by Schumachers... versions, that I thought they just couldn't make any good Batman movies anymore.
But this is actually pretty good. And it's pretty good idea to show the origins of Batman, which has never been that important in the previous movies. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.Yeah yeah, everybody hails this movie and yeah yeah Ledger does amazing job as Joker yeah yeah...
Well, this one is better than Begins and yes, Ledger is good, no, great, but I prefer Nicholson more.
Damn good movie, though. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleTom HardyAnne HathawayEight years after the Joker's reign of chaos, Batman is coerced out of exile with the assistance of the mysterious Selina Kyle in order to defend Gotham City from the vicious guerrilla terrorist Bane. Was pretty disappointed with this one. The villains aren't that interesting and for most part Batman does absolutely nothing. Movie drags on and on and is at times a pretty boring film. Still worth atleast one look, though.
- DirectorJaume BalagueróPaco PlazaStarsManuela VelascoFerran TerrazaJorge-Yamam SerranoA television reporter and cameraman follow emergency workers into a dark apartment building and are quickly locked inside with something terrifying. This one came out of the blue, I probably bought the DVD on sale with just a couple of euros or something. But I liked it. Atmosphere is pretty authentic and scary.
- DirectorHenry SelickStarsDanny ElfmanChris SarandonCatherine O'HaraJack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but his attempts to bring Christmas to his home causes confusion.Tim Burton rules! The opening scene and song (This is Halloween) is just pure awesomeness. BTW, Marilyn Manson did a good cover of that song. And KoRn's version of Kidnap the Sandy Klaws is also pure awesomeness!
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppHelena Bonham CarterAlan RickmanThe legendary tale of a barber who returns from wrongful imprisonment to 1840s London, bent on revenge for the rape and death of his wife, and resumes his trade while forming a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs. Lovett.Pretty impressive and different film. The only musical I have seen on the big screen. Burton and Depp never let you down (well, atleast with the movies that I've seen...).
Visually great, the songs are good, the atmosphere is pure Burton... Great movie! - DirectorJohn WatersStarsJohnny DeppRicki LakeAmy LocaneIn 1950s Baltimore, a bad boy with a heart of gold wins the love of a good girl, whose boyfriend sets out for revenge.Well, this one was... weird. Depp in his earlier years. Just shows how versatile actor he is.
- DirectorLasse HallströmStarsJohnny DeppLeonardo DiCaprioJuliette LewisA young man in a small Midwestern town struggles to care for his mentally-disabled younger brother and morbidly obese mother while attempting to pursue his own happiness. One of the few dramas that I really, really like. Depp is awesome as always and DiCaprio is amazing in his role too.
- DirectorAlbert HughesAllen HughesStarsJohnny DeppHeather GrahamIan HolmAfter five ritualistic murders are committed in 1888 London, Inspector Abberline's assignment is to investigate the "Jack the Ripper" murders. Along with a string of mutilated prostitutes, he uncovers a conspiracy involving the government.Without Depp this movie wouldn't be as good as it is. He carries the movie. Though the atmosphere is dark and the visuals are pretty good, but without Depp it wouldn't matter.
- DirectorRoman PolanskiStarsJohnny DeppFrank LangellaLena OlinA book broker discovers his latest find may summon Satan.Again, Depp is just awesome. Even though it's pretty standard performance, it's still better than most actors would've done.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppMartin LandauSarah Jessica ParkerAmbitious but troubled movie director Edward D. Wood Jr. tries his best to fulfill his dreams despite his lack of talent. So funny and good, too bad that it's not usually mentioned when people talk about Depp's or Burton's movies. I highly recommend this one!
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppChristina RicciMiranda RichardsonIchabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of three people; the culprit is legendary apparition The Headless Horseman.Depp is as good as always. As is Ricci. And Walken of course. The third act is not as good as the rest of the movie, but still pretty good flick.
- DirectorLaurence DunmoreStarsJohnny DeppSamantha MortonJohn MalkovichThe story of John Wilmot, a.k.a. the Earl of Rochester, a 17th century poet who famously drank and debauched his way to an early grave, only to earn posthumous critical acclaim for his life's work.Saw this once, don't remember that much of it. Maybe a little too "arty" for my taste. Was pretty boring, if I recall correctly. Depp is good, like he always is (except for Public Enemy). Should watch this again sometime.
- DirectorTerry GilliamStarsJohnny DeppBenicio Del ToroTobey MaguireAn oddball journalist and his psychopathic lawyer travel to Las Vegas for a series of psychedelic escapades.Duuuuuuuude! What a great, crazy movie! Depp and del Toro are freaking awesome! The visuals, the crazy performances, the cameos... Just... See for yourselves!
- DirectorTed DemmeStarsJohnny DeppPenélope CruzFranka PotenteThe story of how George Jung, along with the Medellín Cartel headed by Pablo Escobar, established the American cocaine market in the 1970s in the United States. Can be pretty boring at times, but still a pretty good movie.
- DirectorEmir KusturicaStarsJohnny DeppJerry LewisFaye DunawayA young New Yorker goes to Arizona where he finds freedom to both love and dream.Everybody who worship Johnny Depp because he is "Jack Sparrow" should check this weird one out. Probably the weirdest movie I've ever seen. And the longest. Or atleast it felt like atleast 6 hours when I watched it. Just... wow.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppWinona RyderDianne WiestThe solitary life of an artificial man - who was incompletely constructed and has scissors for hands - is upended when he is taken in by a suburban family.Burton and Depp. Need I say more?
- DirectorTerry GilliamTerry JonesStarsGraham ChapmanJohn CleeseEric IdleKing Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table embark on a surreal, low-budget search for the Holy Grail, encountering many, very silly obstacles.Probably the best movie EVER. Soooo many quotes to throw in real life, sooo many jokes, soooo many unforgettable scenes... Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!
- DirectorTerry JonesStarsGraham ChapmanJohn CleeseMichael PalinBorn on the original Christmas in the stable next door to Jesus Christ, Brian of Nazareth spends his life being mistaken for a messiah. The second best Python-movie. Pure awesomeness!
- DirectorTerry JonesStarsJohn CleeseTerry GilliamEric IdleThe comedy team takes a look at life in all of its stages in their own uniquely silly way.Not as good as other stuff Python have done. Some jokes are hilarious, some are just good or even mediocre.
- DirectorIvan ReitmanStarsBill MurrayDan AykroydSigourney WeaverThree parapsychologists forced out of their university funding set up shop as a unique ghost removal service in New York City, attracting frightened yet skeptical customers. One of my favourite movies as a kid. Still remember all the lines. Effects are still pretty good today as the were back then. Comedy gold!
- DirectorIvan ReitmanStarsBill MurrayDan AykroydSigourney WeaverThe discovery of a massive river of ectoplasm and a resurgence of spectral activity allows the staff of Ghostbusters to revive the business.I remember that this movie was even a little scary when I was a kid. The first one wasn't, but this had some pretty disturbing stuff for kid my age.
Maybe not as good as the first one, but still very good and funny. - DirectorGreg MottolaStarsMichael CeraJonah HillChristopher Mintz-PlasseTwo co-dependent high school seniors are forced to deal with separation anxiety after their plan to stage a booze-soaked party goes awry.Has some very hilarious scenes and stuff. The cops are awesome. Cera is probably doomed to play this kinda goofy, nerdy characters forever, but in this film it works. Funny and entertaining film.
- DirectorJoss WhedonStarsNathan FillionGina TorresChiwetel EjioforThe crew of the ship Serenity try to evade an assassin sent to recapture telepath River. The movie continuing where Firefly-series left off. The world of Firefly/Serenity is just brilliant and awesome. Whedon did good job. And Nathan Fillion is awesome as Malcom. And Summer Glau.... <3
I defenitely recommend this if you like scifi and action. Shame that the series or this movie didn't appeal to enough people, so the show never continued. - DirectorDavid ZuckerStarsLeslie NielsenPriscilla PresleyO.J. SimpsonIncompetent police Detective Frank Drebin must foil an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II.Leslie Nielsen rocks!
- DirectorDavid ZuckerStarsLeslie NielsenPriscilla PresleyGeorge KennedyLieutenant Frank Drebin discovers that his ex-girlfriend's new beau is involved in a plot to kidnap a scientist who advocates solar energy.Leslie Nielsen still rocks!
- DirectorPeter SegalStarsLeslie NielsenPriscilla PresleyGeorge KennedyFrank Drebin comes out of retirement to help Police Squad infiltrate a gang of terrorists planning to detonate a bomb at the Academy Awards.Okay, now it's getting kinda old :D
Some good laughs here and there, though. - DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsDuane JonesJudith O'DeaKarl HardmanA ragtag group of Pennsylvanians barricade themselves in an old farmhouse to remain safe from a horde of flesh-eating ghouls that are ravaging the Northeast of the United States.Classic.
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsDavid EmgeKen ForeeScott H. ReinigerDuring an escalating zombie epidemic, two Philadelphia SWAT team members, a traffic reporter and his TV executive girlfriend seek refuge in a secluded shopping mall. The middle part (the second act?) is kinda boring, but the beginning and the end are great. Nice gore effects and zombie killing action!
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsSarah PolleyVing RhamesMekhi PhiferA nurse, a policeman, a young married couple, a salesman and other survivors of a worldwide plague that is producing aggressive, flesh-eating zombies, take refuge in a mega Midwestern shopping mall.Quite nice remake. I might've actually saw this one before the original Romero version.
Saw this movie at the theaters. Me and couple of my friends were in full zombie make up and costumes, walked across the town to the theater and made the staff laugh their asses off :D - DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsLori CardilleTerry AlexanderJoseph PilatoAs the world is overrun by zombies, a group of scientists and military personnel sheltering in an underground bunker in Florida must decide on how they should deal with the undead horde. Not as strong as Dawn of the Dead, in mu opinion. For the most part is just so boring. Couple of nice gore effects, still.
- DirectorPeter JacksonStarsTerry PotterPete O'HerneCraig SmithThe population of a small town disappears and is replaced by aliens that chase human flesh for their intergalactic fast-food chain.I remember seeing the cover poster now and then in magazines and places as a kid. It's a long way from this to Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson! Brilliant movie, though!
- DirectorPeter JacksonStarsTimothy BalmeDiana PeñalverElizabeth MoodyA young man's mother is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey. She gets sick and dies, at which time she comes back to life, killing and eating dogs, nurses, friends, and neighbors.Wow........ Classic B-movie splatter and gorefest by Peter "LotR" Jackson.
"I kick ass for the LORD!" - DirectorCosta BotesPeter JacksonStarsPeter JacksonJeffrey ThomasCosta BotesThe film deals with the career of a supposedly forgotten pioneer of international cinema, Colin McKenzie, who was allegedly born in rural New Zealand in 1888.Had no expectations of this and it turned out to be a pretty good movie. Showed that Jackson was/is a director/filmmaker with very wide range and talent.
- DirectorPeter JacksonStarsDanny MulheronDonna AkerstenStuart DevenieMultiple animals and insects experience the sleazier side of show business while working on a variety show. One of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. But when Peter "Brain Dead" Jackson directs a movie with puppets, you kinda know this is what you will get. Drugs, sex, music numbers, Vietnam flashbacks... Highly recommend it!
- DirectorJohn LandisStarsJohn BelushiDan AykroydCab CallowayJake Blues rejoins with his brother Elwood after being released from prison, but the duo has just days to reunite their old R&B band and save the Catholic home where the two were raised, outrunning the police as they tear through Chicago."We are on mission from God"
Brilliant movie, a true masterpiece! - DirectorJohn LandisStarsDan AykroydJohn GoodmanWalter LevineElwood must reunite the old band, with a few new members, and go on another "Mission from God."Too bad they went on and just pretty recycled the first movie for this one. It would've been better, if they had done something more original. Entertaining movie still. The nazis are hilarious!
- DirectorPeter HyamsStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerGabriel ByrneRobin TunneyAt the end of the century, Satan visits New York in search of a bride. It's up to an ex-cop who now runs an elite security outfit to stop him.I think this was the first Arnold movie that I saw in theaters. Awesome soundtrack and Arnold himself are what makes this movie not suck as much. The plot is pretty dumb, but the atmosphere is fitting and it has some good action scenes.
- DirectorDavid KoeppStarsJohnny DeppMaria BelloJohn TurturroA successful writer in the midst of a painful divorce is stalked at his remote lake house by a would-be scribe who accuses him of plagiarism.Depp is again fantastic and the plot is pretty nice with some nice twists. Unfortunately when you know what the twist is (and it's something that you might figure out by yourself pretty quickly), the rewatching value plummets. Just like with Beautiful Mind.
- DirectorMike NewellStarsAl PacinoJohnny DeppMichael MadsenAn FBI undercover agent infiltrates the mob and finds himself identifying more with the Mafia life--at the expense of his regular one.One of the greatest movies Depp has been in. Pacino is also awesome.
- DirectorChuck RussellStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerVanessa WilliamsJames CaanA Witness Protection specialist becomes suspicious of his co-workers when dealing with a case involving high-tech weapons.Pretty average action flick starring Arnold. And bad CGI crocodiles.
- DirectorArthur Allan SeidelmanStarsArnold StangArnold SchwarzeneggerDeborah LoomisHercules is sent to Earth where he finds true love and starts a promising career in the bodybuilder business.Arnie!!!! Awesome movie. Stupid, but awesome! The wrestling with the bear in the park: pure awesomeness. The plot jumps around and is pretty stupid, the acting is terrible (not just Arnold, but everybody else too), you can see cars driving in the background when on Mount Olympus etc. Love this one, highly recommend it!
- DirectorHal NeedhamStarsKirk DouglasArnold SchwarzeneggerAnn-MargretFacing hanging, a bank robber makes a deal with the corrupt banker to avoid execution in exchange for a dirty assignment.Pretty much a live action Warner Bros. cartoon. Cactus Jack tries to ambush Handsome Stranger with Acme stuff. This movie is so dumb that it's good!
- DirectorJames CameronStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerJamie Lee CurtisTom ArnoldA fearless, globe-trotting, terrorist-battling secret agent has his life turned upside down when he discovers his wife might be having an affair with a used-car salesman while terrorists smuggle nuclear war heads into the United States.Cameron and Schwarzenegger know how to make entertaining action fun!
- DirectorJohn McTiernanStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerF. Murray AbrahamArt CarneyWith the help of a magic ticket, a young movie fan is transported into the fictional world of his favorite action movie character. Not as bad as everybody seem to think. Yes, the plot has some pretty big holes, but hey, it's all good fun and... well what did you espect from Arnold movie?!
- DirectorJohn IrvinStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerKathryn HarroldSam WanamakerA former FBI agent turned small-town sheriff agrees to help the FBI chief infiltrate the Chicago mafia when the FBI chief's son is killed by them.I remember having this videotaped and then someone recorded something else over this, so the only thing left was the last big fight. So that's pretty much everything I remember about this movie! And it's pretty much the best thing about this movie, too. But it's nice to see Arnold in a little more realistic setting for a change and not always fighting with giant snakes with swords or aliens in the jungle.
- DirectorPaul VerhoevenStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerSharon StoneMichael IronsideWhen a man goes in to have virtual vacation memories of the planet Mars implanted in his mind, an unexpected and harrowing series of events forces him to go to the planet for real - or is he?Some of the special effects are pretty outdated by now and the plot has some weird holes in it, but overall it's pretty well done and entertaining scifi action.
- DirectorJohn McTiernanStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerCarl WeathersKevin Peter HallA team of commandos on a mission in a Central American jungle find themselves hunted by an extraterrestrial warrior.Together with Terminators and Conans, Predator is the best thing Arnold has been envolved with.
- DirectorIvan ReitmanStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerPenelope Ann MillerPamela ReedA tough cop must pose as a kindergarten teacher in order to locate a dangerous criminal's ex-wife, who may hold the key to putting him behind bars. When I was younger I thought this was boring and didn't have enough action to be Arnold-movie. But now I like it. Besides Twins, this is probably the nearest thing to pure comedy (good one that is) that Arnold has ever done.
- DirectorRichard FleischerStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerGrace JonesOlivia d'AboConan leads a ragtag group of adventurers on a quest for a princess. As a kid I just loved this movie. Me and my brother would react the whole thing together when we were playing. Being the smaller and weaker, I was of course always Conan.
Now I think Barbarian is by far better movie than Destroyer, but it's still entertaining fantasy adventure. But for some reason I haven't got my hands to the uncut version of the movie I remember seeing as a 5-year old kid. [SPOLER ALERT] You know, when Conan rescues Akiro and cuts someones head off, the head was spinning in slow motion through the air. And when the final monster impales the evil queen, the camera showed you the horn coming through the back of the queen. But my version has those things cut. Pretty much every version I have seen since the one that was taped from TV when I was a little kid. - DirectorRichard FleischerStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerBrigitte NielsenSandahl BergmanThe fearless warrior Red Sonja sets out to avenge her family's murder and rid her kingdom from the tyrannical rule of evil Queen Gedren. As a kid this was entertaining. Well, it still is, but for totally different reasons. The plot is stupid and acting is terrible (Nielsen as Red Sonja is just awful!). So bad it's borderline good.
- DirectorMark L. LesterStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerRae Dawn ChongDan HedayaA retired Special Forces colonel tries to save his daughter, who was abducted by his former subordinate.PURE MACHO AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- DirectorWalter HillStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerJim BelushiPeter BoyleA tough Russian policeman is forced to partner up with a cocky Chicago police detective when he is sent to Chicago to apprehend a Georgian drug lord who killed his partner and fled the country.Just your basic Arnold-action.
- DirectorFrank DarabontStarsTim RobbinsMorgan FreemanBob GuntonOver the course of several years, two convicts form a friendship, seeking consolation and, eventually, redemption through basic compassion. No wonder this movie is high on every top lists when talking about best movies ever. It really is that good.
- DirectorBrett RatnerStarsAnthony HopkinsEdward NortonRalph FiennesA retired FBI agent with psychological gifts is assigned to help track down "The Tooth Fairy", a mysterious serial killer. Aiding him is imprisoned forensic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter.Nice thriller. Doesn't rip off Silence of the Lambs too much.
- DirectorMark OsborneJohn StevensonStarsJack BlackIan McShaneAngelina JolieTo everyone's surprise, including his own, Po, an overweight, clumsy panda, is chosen as protector of the Valley of Peace. His suitability will soon be tested as the valley's arch-enemy is on his way.Nice, funny and entertaining comedy. Jack Black is usually very good.
- DirectorJennifer Yuh NelsonStarsJack BlackAngelina JolieJackie ChanPo and his friends fight to stop a peacock villain from conquering China with a deadly new weapon, but first the Dragon Warrior must come to terms with his past.Maybe not as funny as the first one, but has more drama and pretty intence moments. Overall it's better than the first one.
- DirectorAndrew DavisStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerJohn LeguizamoFrancesca NeriAfter his family is killed by a terrorist act, a firefighter goes in search of the one responsible.Pretty average Schwarzenegger-film. Plot has potential to be quite different than your everyday action movie, but doesn't have enough courage to go there.
- DirectorRoger SpottiswoodeStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerMichael RapaportTony GoldwynA man meets a clone of himself and stumbles into a grand conspiracy about clones taking over the world.Has some nice ideas and good premise for the plot, but doesn't take enough risks and becomes just your basic Arnold action movie. Good entertainment still.
