21st Century Horror: Spain (tapekebab's Top 10)
Disclaimer: This is just my personal Top 10, not necessarily the best films from this region. I also include horror and horror-related titles, so if you see any movies on the list that you don’t think are technically horror movies, let’s not argue about it.
If you have any recommendations for movies from Spain, please let me know in the comments!
Honorable mention: A number of Spanish horror directors have had major success with English-language productions, especially Alejandro Amenábar with the already-classic “The Others,” which is entirely in the British Gothic tradition.
Sergio G. Sánchez’s “Marrowbone” is another quality Gothic film from a Spanish crew, though it features an English family living in the US, and Argentine director Andy Muschietti’s “Mama” is a great supernatural horror set in the US that was largely a Spanish production.
