- DirectorRalph SenenskyStarsRichard ThomasRalph WaiteMichael LearnedJohn-Boy becomes the target of public indignation when he insists on printing excerpts from Hitler's "Mein Kampf" in his newspaper. Erin competes in a beauty pageant.John-Boy is not held in high regard by the community as he plans to reprint excerpts from Hitler's "Mein Kampf". Of course he's not a member of Hitler Youth or an SS officer-in-training, but his intent is to warn his secluded community of what could happen if the people become complacent and ignore the signs of a dictator on the rise. He's at odds with his newspaper's advertisers, members of his own family, and even Rev. Fordwick (John Ritter before he left the ministry to live with two girls...lol!). John-Boy really gets his ire up at a book burning held by the good reverend!

Daisy turns up later in the series as a visiting friend and love interest for John Boy.Daisy Garner makes her first appearance here as an eventual love interest for John-Boy. They meet in line going to sign up for a 7-day dance marathon and since each did not bring a partner...

He takes John-Boy's car into town without his permission. Then there's the damage to said car after someone goes for a joyride in it while Ben is inside a hotel restaurant with a classmate he helps to reunite with her mother. Ben's in trouble with the law, John, John-Boy, and the girl's father!
- DirectorHarry HarrisStarsRichard ThomasRalph WaiteMichael LearnedJohn-Boy sent his novel to a publisher and does not hear anything. He travels to New York to get an update. There, he is torn between the city and home. The writing was on the wall with this one as Richard Thomas would be making his swan song with this episode, appearing very rarely until he was replaced by Robert Wightman (aka "Fake John-Boy"). After being on pins and needles awaiting word of whether or not his novel is going to be published, he travels to NYC to expedite matters. He also reconnects with Daisy Garner (first seen in "The Marathon", another of my favorites) who now works as a dance hall girl while going on auditions during the day.
- DirectorLee PhilipsStarsRichard ThomasRalph WaiteMichael LearnedWhen Miss Hunter is called away unexpectedly, a substitute teacher with ways of her own takes over. The substitute teacher brought in to fill in for Miss Hunter is rigid and frigid. She and her students come to realize she's only human and can't live up to the high ideals she set for herself. By the end, she's somewhat more likable!
