- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsMatt DamonCécile de FranceBryce Dallas HowardAn American construction worker, a French journalist and a London school boy set out on a spiritual journey after death touches their lives in different ways.Clint Eastwood's overlooked masterpice about the afterlife got a lot of mixed reviews which caused it's downfall. But I feel that it's one of the best films of his directing career, and should definitely be seen.
- DirectorRoman PolanskiStarsEwan McGregorPierce BrosnanOlivia WilliamsA ghost writer, hired to complete the memoirs of a former British Prime Minister, uncovers secrets that put his own life in jeopardy. The great Roman Polanski's thriller got a lot of good reviews, but was most likely snubbed because Polanski is just too controversial. It's one of his best movies to date.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsMichael CeraMary Elizabeth WinsteadKieran CulkinIn a magically realistic version of Toronto, a young man must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes one by one in order to win her heart.I fell in love with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and still love it to this day. It's really a sight for sore eyes.
- DirectorNiels Arden OplevStarsMichael NyqvistNoomi RapaceEwa FrölingA journalist is aided by a young female hacker in his search for the killer of a woman who has been dead for forty years.I have yet to see David Fincher's version, but the Swedish one was enough to keep me occupied until I see it. Really, Noomi Rapace is drop dead sexy in the whole trilogy.
- DirectorWoody AllenStarsAnthony HopkinsNaomi WattsJosh BrolinSally's parents' marriage breaks up when her father undergoes a mid-life crisis and impulsively weds a prostitute. Meanwhile, Sally's own marriage also begins to disintegrate.Controversial director Woody Allen, another one of my favorites, has had a lot of movies disliked by a lot of people. YWMATDS shouldn't have been one of those. It's funny, engaging, and he once again teaches us a lesson: What goes around, comes around.
- DirectorGlenn FicarraJohn RequaStarsJim CarreyEwan McGregorLeslie MannA cop turns con man once he comes out of the closet. Once imprisoned, he meets the second love of his life, whom he'll stop at nothing to be with.I Love You, Phillip Morris was quite a career turn for my personal favorite actor, Jim Carrey. It's the best performance of his career, and same goes for Ewan McGregor. And should be seen, straight or gay, for their performances.
- DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintAs Harry, Ron and Hermione race against time and evil to destroy the Horcruxes, they uncover the existence of the three most powerful objects in the wizarding world: the Deathly Hallows. The Potter series never got picked up by the academy, which is a travesty if I say so myself. The second to last one was powerful, and one of the best.
- DirectorJames MangoldStarsTom CruiseCameron DiazPeter SarsgaardA young woman gets mixed up with a disgraced spy who is trying to clear his name.Knight and Day isn't perfect, but I thought that it was so much fun I couldn't help but put it on the list.
- DirectorBen AffleckStarsBen AffleckRebecca HallJon HammA proficient group of thieves rob a bank and hold an assistant manager hostage. Things begin to get complicated when one of the crew members falls in love with her.The Town, the second film from director Ben Affleck, is even better than his debut, Gone Baby Gone, by a lot.
- DirectorVincenzo NataliStarsAdrien BrodySarah PolleyDelphine ChanéacGenetic engineers Clive Nicoli and Elsa Kast hope to achieve fame by successfully splicing together the DNA of different animals to create new hybrid animals for medical use.Splice was such a crazy movie, but if there were an award for "Most Originality", Splice would have been a candidate.
