Movies I saw in 2010... so far
This is in no particular order. I haven't seen a lot of great movies this year yet (How to Train Your Dragon, Kick-Ass, etc) so I'll update this list the moment I do.

- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsLeonardo DiCaprioEmily MortimerMark RuffaloTeddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, two US marshals, are sent to an asylum on a remote island in order to investigate the disappearance of a patient, where Teddy uncovers a shocking truth about the place.I didn't see this in theaters, but I now own it on DVD and I saw it at least 5 or 6 times now. Intriguing concept, gloomy atmosphere, excellent acting (Leo DiCaprio's first of two great performances this year), and above all great direction by Marty Scorsese. Nice tributes to Hitchcock and Val Lewton.
Rating: 4/4 - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster.I know a lot of people who say they haven't seen this yet and I always tell them to do so immediately. This was a great movie perhaps the best blockbuster of the year!
Rating: 4/4 - DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home. The best film of the year? Already? Why not? This is an excellent finale (at least, I hope it is the finale) of another great trilogy. The animation, adorable characters, heartfelt story, great story, sense of humor, and and a hint of nostalgia all comes together to make a perfect movie.
Rating: 4/4 - DirectorTim BurtonStarsMia WasikowskaJohnny DeppHelena Bonham CarterNineteen-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror.I know a lot of people were disappointed by this. The expectations were all very high both for Burton and the material that its impossible for the film to live up to the potential. That it's a different film than what the expectations led to believe didn't help much at all. Even I felt a tad underwhelmed when I first saw it.
But finally seeing it again, even without the 3D gimmick, I liked it, though I still can't go far as to find it a classic. The new story takes Carroll's classic in a whole new direction, making it more than a mere adaptation of an already oft-told tale. This may not be Burton's best movie, but it's way better than the bad press its recieving.
Rating: 3/4 - DirectorJon FavreauStarsRobert Downey Jr.Mickey RourkeGwyneth PaltrowWith the world now aware of his identity as Iron Man, Tony Stark must contend with both his declining health and a vengeful mad man with ties to his father's legacy. Not as good as the first (which itself was great but flawed), but this is still lots of fun, especially since Robert Downey Jr. is actually given other great actors to play around with. Mickey Rourke doesn't have much screen time though, but that didn't matter much. The finale in this one is actually an improvement over the first. Fun.
Rating: 3/4 - DirectorMike MitchellStarsMike MyersCameron DiazEddie MurphyRumpelstiltskin tricks a mid-life crisis burdened Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpelstiltskin rules supreme.Still not as good as the first two, and rather forgettable afterwards. Still, it's a slight improvement over the mediocre SHREK THE THIRD. Forgettable, but actually pretty amusing.
