- Voice of Syria is a witness testimonial by the Syrian people with regards to what has happened to their country. It's a story told by those who couldn't leave, those who chose to stay to fight the war and those who had to leave their motherland. In Voice of Syria, we follow the harrowing three-year journey of its Director, who heard a call to witness with her own eyes what was happening in a war-torn Syria, a journey that took her to the front lines during the highest peak of the conflict and the decisive battle of Aleppo. The Director uncovers truths and gives a global platform to Syrian voices that have been silenced by nations and the media machine for close to a decade. Syrians, both, from rebel and government occupied areas, share their true political backstory, expose propaganda and interesting revelations of the 'White Helmets', who were deemed by the rest of the world as 'heroes.' Hamad, a rebel turned Al-Nusra fighter, Emad a man of the revolution, Almekdad a prisoner kidnapped by Al-Qaeda who was kept underground forced to hard labor and Anna, Ashtar, Nadia, and Ranna- four extraordinary women who despite the hardships remained resilient. Their accounts will shed light on how this imposed war has destroyed and victimized Syrian lives, destroyed their economy, and the country they love. It is an account that will emphasize a fight for peace and a secular Syria, regardless of difference of creed and political views. Through these stories, the film hopes to humanize the region's conflicts, transform the stereotype of the true Arab Syrian while evoking the audience to listen, think, feel and empathize with the Syrian plight. The film's goal is to create an active and in-depth conversation for peace in Syria and in the world through the 'Voices of Syria."
