In 1904, Carl Efraim Pettersson, a 12-year-old boy from Sweden, experienced the heartbreaking loss of his mother and found himself homeless on the streets of Old Town, Stockholm. While witnessing the enslavement of Sindu, a 12-year-old girl aboard a ship in the harbor, he made a brave decision to rescue her. After freeing Sindu, they embarked on a journey to Papua New Guinea with the help of friendly pirates and successfully liberated her tribe. As a token of gratitude, Carl Efraim received a rare opportunity to reunite with his deceased mother on the Island of Death. Few people have survived their visit to the island, but according to legend, those who do gain the strength of a hundred men. With Sindu's support, Carl Efraim not only meets his mother but also survives the encounter. Several years later, they marry and become the King and Queen of the tribe, blessed with a child of extraordinary strength. However, tragedy strikes when a new war erupts on the island, resulting in Sindu's untimely death. Left behind to fight in the war, Carl Efraim sends his daughter back to Sweden alone, carrying a sack of gold.
