- Anna has been happily married to apple farmer Christian Ingstrup for many years. The couple runs a plantation together in the Altes Land near Hamburg. Business isn't doing particularly well at the moment, because arch-competitor Johann Quast, one of the richest farmers in the area, is gradually digging up the water for the Ingstrups. So far, Anna and Christian have always found a solution, because the two always pull together. That changes when Anna's past catches up with her one day: her illegitimate daughter Ines, who neither Christian nor her biological father know about, is standing in front of the door. At the age of 16, Anna was forced by her parents to put her child up for adoption immediately after birth. She always wanted to tell her husband about her daughter - but since their marriage remained childless, Anna lacked the courage. Nervous and anxious, she now tries to hide Ines' existence. But maternal curiosity soon prevails: Ines is a renowned cello teacher in Hamburg and the single mother of a 17-year-old daughter, Cosima, called Jo. When Christian finally discovers Anna's secret, his world collapses. He separates from Anna and sells the farm to Johann Quast. Anna has only one chance left to save her marriage and the farm. Together with her daughter Ines and granddaughter Jo, she comes up with a plan.

Nightclub singer Henny Dalgow get to know the Social Democratic congressman and Jewish doctor Albert Goldman, and the two become a slightly odd couple. - On her 45th birthday, housewife Theresa Jessen is transferred once again to a business appointment by her husband Richard, a busy building contractor. The two adult children Tobias and Nina gladly use their mother's services, but they don't even have time to accompany them to the dentist on this day, which Theresa is quite nervous about. So Theresa spontaneously decides something crazy: To leave the gray everyday life behind, she gets on the next bus to Usedom and rents a room at the "Möwe" guesthouse. What was planned as a day trip turns into an indefinite holiday in the enchanting, slightly dilapidated hotel with a view of the lake. Theresa gives the fun-loving pension landlady Elisabeth Rosenbauer a hand and enjoys the unexpected attention and recognition of the illustrious pensioners. Above all, the amiable advances of the divorced boat builder Sebastian Schneider are balm for the soul of the neglected wife and mother. In the relaxed atmosphere, Theresa also passes the driver's license test and strengthens her scratched self-confidence. Richard finally notices that something has probably gone wrong and makes his way to Usedom. When on arrival he witnesses, unnoticed, how Sebastian makes a fiery declaration of love for his wife, he takes up the fight: Richard hires himself in as "Mr. Neumann" and does everything in his power to win his wife's heart again. It's not that easy, because Theresa has changed in the meantime. And she clearly enjoys the fact that two admirers are vying for her.
- Hans Kupfer looses credit with general Gaucke, who promotes neither his candidate nor Falke, after Dunja's failed suicide which drives Julia hysterical, turning even a while on Martin, who incurs a formal warning -to his unconnected partner Peter Görlitz's envy- for refusing an order to raid a harmless party. Falk physically fights Martin, who is surprised to win for the first time, and to find his brother utterly unforgiving, while both feel betrayed by father, who learns his wife knew about Dunja. Falke is instructed to 'find ways' and blackmails a police employee to spy on his kin.
- Martin donated a kidney anyway, which saved Roman's life, but instead of gymnast he'll need a new future as engineering student. As reward, Falk has Julia released, but the ingrate keeps Martin waiting, rather meeting her new lush mother, somehow blaming 'coward' Martin for the miscarriage. Vera being icy to Falk, he starts marriage counseling from a psychologist, whose past he uses to steer her. Vera meets and falls for children's home buddy Nicole's brother, free-spirited protestant preacher Robert Wolff, who takes her along to punk-concerts and the politically risky environmentalist action group against Bitterfeld chemistry, blaming toxic waste for Nicole's cripple son Thomas's condition. Activist Frank Luchnik duly fears Vera may be a StaSi spy, and indeed Falk's rival Geifel spots her on routine observation pictures.
