- Cretan-Turks are the Islamised Greeks of Crete. After their exile from the island before and after the decision of the population exchange treaty of Lausanne, the Muslims of Crete were scattered along the coast of Asia Minor. Today, in Halicarnassus (Bodrum), first, second and third generation Cretan-Turks nostalgic for the homeland of their ancestors call themselves "Cretans" and keep alive the Cretan dialect, lifestyle, cooking, etc. The elders remember a harmonious coexistence with their Christian compatriots, their flight from Crete, and difficulties in adapting to life in Turkey. Poverty does not allow more people to make the much-desired journey to their Cretan motherland, often organized by local associations.
- In 1975 in Greece, a high school student discovered the French poet Arthur Rimbaud from a song by Manos Hadjidakis and the poet Nikos Gatsos. Later on, his interest for the "bad boy" of French literature extended beyond the poet's work, to his turbulent personal life, to his first period of wandering(1875-1876), when Rimbaud tried to come to Greece to work on an island "under the beautiful Aegean sky." From December 1978 to May 1879 Rimbaud stayed in Cyprus, where he worked as a supervisor for a French construction company at a quarry in the province of Larnaca and after that, from March to July 1880, he also worked as a supervisor for the construction of the summer villa of the English governor on Mount Troodos.
- Christos, a lonely 30-year-old, is an unspecified mathematician, runs for a living doing private lessons and prepares to go with a friend to Christmas in Paris. His girlfriend cancels the trip at the last minute and Christos does not like to travel alone. Then he gets to know a 75-year-old neighbor who lives in the basement of the apartment building with his dog and adores Cavafy. The loneliness of the holidays brings them closer and they become friends. Christos leaves for Crete to spend the New Year with his family, but gets hurt and returns to Athens. Then, an intuitive friend urges him to go to Corfu, where there is the Canal d'amour - the channel of love. Anyone who swims there, according to legend, knows the love of his life. But Christos is not a winter swimmer.
- In the Cretan villages of the White Mountains, women preserve the rich tradition of the land with maturity and creativity. Over the years, the Cretan "petseta" has become a very important part of their dowry, their life and their personality. On each "petseta" there are warp threads that must be fastened. A simple knot would be enough, until some woman, playing with the loose threads, created the first finger lace pattern. This is the main subject of this film. Mrs Marie Naxaki's encounter with these women led to the joy of talking about the past and the special meaning of the finger lace edging.
