- The Story of a man who comes back from his grocery shopping trip and is looking forward to watching some TV when a strange humming noise leads him to his fridge and then to a cucumber which appears to be imbued with strange powers. Will this prove to herald a new chapter in human-vegetable relations? Is a Cucumber actually a fruit? And what bearing does this have on whether you can deduct petrol from your income tax? 'Cucumber Man' starts so quietly you may think the sound is off, and depicts a life so without incident that the advent of a special cucumber is something even more interesting than what's on TV. However the noise, weirdness and paranoia quickly escalate to crisis levels. With the sound design of David Lynch and the visual effects of early Terry Gilliam, this film struggles with categorisation. One part horror, one part fantasy, one part comedy, ten parts cucumber.
- A man secretly overhears a heated conversation about race relations, which triggers off reflections that ultimately lead to a dramatic confrontation.
- Cabbie Mick is given the job of teaching Daljinder the minicab trade. Eighteen hours later, after discovering that Mick's methods range from the immoral to the downright illegal, Daljinder begins to wonder if this is the job for him.
- Jim and Heinz are two friends who live in Vienna. Heinz is Viennese and Jim is English, so they converse in English. In 'The Electric Bull Riding Contest' Heinz is led by Jim to a snowy wasteland just outside Vienna on the pretext of participating in an Electric Bull riding contest and Heinz is very excited at the prospect of finally coming up against his arch nemesis, Matador 'The Kid' Jiminez. However this is not to be. Jim has in fact brought Heinz here to demonstrate the powers of a small device he discovered while going through the effects of his recently deceased scientist uncle. What's more, the 'device' turns out to be a working Time Machine. Well, sort of working... Jim and Heinz are two characters who are only slightly aware that they are living in a world full of bizarre events and impossible situations, preferring instead to talk and argue over life's more trivial facets. In keeping with the novel universe in which the films are set, the look of the films is special as they are made by a process of using hundreds of still images rather than motion video. Special effects are achieved by hand doctoring every picture on a computer. With a nod to Chris Marker's 'La Jetee' and a wink to THX1138, 'The Electric Bull Riding Contest' is five minutes during which most people won't travel anywhere.
