- The trials and tribulations of a saintly clay-potter, Gora, devotee of Bhagwan Shri Vithal who is kicked out of the house by his sister-in-law. He accidentally stomps his only child, Nandlal, to death under his feet. He refuses to be intimate with his wife, Ganga but then agrees to gets married to her sister, Jamuna, so that he could have an heir. However, instead ends up taking a vow of celibacy after chopping off his hands.
- After being asked to leave by his sister-in-law, Kadvi, Gora, a clay-potter by profession and an ardent devotee of Bhagwan Shri Kishan (Vithal), leaves the family home with his wife Ganga. They soon give birth to a son, Nandlal, but tragedy visits them after Gora inadvertently stomps his son to death under his feet. Promising never to be intimate with his wife, who desecrated Bhagwan Shri Kishan's image, he, nevertheless agrees to get married to her sister, Jamuna. Complications compound the threesome after Gora chops his hands off and decides to live the life of a celibate.
