- Raja, a fisherman is secretly in love with Mona. When wealthy Ravi comes to live with his grandmother, Kamladevi, he sees Mona and falls in love with her. Mona also reciprocates his love. Raja is devastated by this turn of events. But when Kamladevi gets to know that Ravi is seeing Mona, she puts pressure on Mona to give up Ravi and marry someone else.

Before dying, he informs Mangal that Sapna has one of two pieces of a locket around her neck, while the other is on Aarti's, and when joined together will reveal the location of a treasure buried in a dungeon. 20 years later, Aarti and her boyfriend, Vijay, along with several others, will attempt to unearth this treasure - not realizing that they not only face betrayal from one of their own, but will also release and fall prey to an ageless and indestructible entity.
- Based on the circa 2nd century BCE to 2nd Century CE, Sanskrit play "Daridra-Charudatta" by the famous Indian playwright Bhasa, "Utsav" faithfully follows Bhasa's story-line. Vasantasena, a courtesan who dances at the King Palaka's court hides in Charudatta's house while running away from the amorous attentions of the king's brother-in-law. She falls in love with Charudatta, though he is married and penniless. They have an affair. Meanwhile, the rightful heir to the throne - King Palaka's brother - escapes from prison. While he is being pursued by the king's troops, Charudatta helps him. The king's brother-in-law strangles Vasantasena when she refuses to submit to him and leaves her for dead. When Charudatta tries to have her jewels pawned, he is arrested for her murder. What happens to him and the other characters constitutes the final part of the film.
- Karim Khan is employed as driver for a gangster named Don, who has an accident with his car, and asks Karim to take the blame for it for a hefty sum of cash, which Karim does so, and is imprisoned. But Don does not fulfill his promise, and as a result, Karim's wife, Razia, and new-born son are left destitute. Razia complains to Police Inspector Anwar, who arrests Don and holds him in prison, pending his trial in court. When Anwar finds out that his new-born son, Iqbal, is in need of a pace-maker, which he is unable to afford, he makes a compromise with Don, who lets him have one. Iqbal undergoes surgery and a pace-maker number 786, considered lucky in Islamic faith, is attached to his tiny heart. But Don and a prostitute by the name of Banoo have other plans for Anwar, which they carry out successfully, and abduct young Iqbal, who ends up growing on the streets as an orphan named Allah Rakha. Several years later, Allah Rakha has grown up, and is friendly with a prostitute named Rani, who happens to be the daughter of Banoo. When News-reporter decides to do TV report on Rani's life, she does not realize that she has opened up a Pandora's box, that will bring the past back to life, and expose her life to danger, deceit, and possible death.

- Private Resham Singh is employed by the Indian Armed Forces and sent to the battle-front under the command of Major Balwant Rai. Years later, he will meet Resham Singh again - but this time it will be a different Resham - far different from the compassionate and loyal one he had met at the front - this one is cold-blooded, heartless, has brutally killed three men, and is out seeking a fourth - who is none other than Balwant's son, Ravi. Will Balwant assist or prevent Resham from killing Ravi, watch as events unfold that will change Balwant's life forever.

When Shankar finds out that Jai Kumar has been arrested for killing Kundan, he arranges his escape, and then subsequently goes to hunt him down. It is then Shankar finds out that Jai is Nisha's sweetheart, and decides to kill two birds with one stone, avenge his humiliation and the scar from the iron he still carries on his back, from both Nisha and her dad, and force Nisha to marry him - or else he will ensure Jai's arrest and subsequent conviction - a conviction which will lead Jai to the gallows. Sonu fell in love with Sheela.

- Ravidas (Sunny Deol) lives in a village in rural India. He is the son of Chediram (Dr. Shreeram Lagoo) who is of highly respected in the village. Ravidas falls in love with Jyoti (Poonam Dhillon). Their love becomes known in the village. Because of differences of caste, the villagers are opposed to Ravidas marrying Jyoti. Chediram commits suicide due to the shame his son has brought upon him. Ravidas is a gifted poet, but he cannot fulfill his dream of being recognized as a great poet, his poems being published and shown to the world, because he lives in a village. So he decides to go to the city to fulfill his dreams and to eventually marry Jyoti. In the city he recovers the purse of a young lady from a thief. The young lady turns out to be the daughter of a big newspaper publisher. The newspaper publisher hears of Ravidas's talent for poetry through his daughter. He publishes some of Ravidas's poems in a column in his newspaper. Ravidas starts becoming famous and his dream is fulfilled. He communicates to Jyoti by writing on the side of the morning express train, hence the title of the film Saveray Wali Gaadi. Jyoti reads these message each morning hoping for the time when Ravidas will return and take her away with him.
- After his transfer from Delhi, Inspector Arjun Singh lives in Bombay along with his wife, Anita, school-going son, Munna; and a younger collegian brother, Ajit. Arjun is disappointed with Ajit as he spends most of his time singing, dancing and flirting with girls. Then a series of sexual molestations and killings of attractive bikini-clad young women take place, and Arjun is assigned to this case. After a short period of time, his investigations lead him to a wealthy suspect, but when the suspect's daughter is molested and killed, his department gets evidence that may implicate another suspect - none other than Ajit.

- Aarti lives with her only son Avinash. When Avinash falls in love and decides to get married, she tells him the truth about his father's death.
- Amar lives a poor lifestyle with his widowed mom in India, he is unemployed, does not make enough effort to find a job, and spends most of his time with his sweetheart, Rinku Dayal. His shocked and devastated mom loses her sanity, and keeps on hoping that Amar will return one day. Then six months later, Amar does return home to his overjoyed mom, and is anxious to go to Rinku and tell her the good news. It is then his mom informs him that Rinku has married Ajit Verma, her dad's boss, shortly after she found out that Amar had drowned. A shocked Amar must now find out why his sweetheart chose to marry a wealthy man, and it is here he will find out that his falling in the river was not an accident but he was the victim of a conspiracy against him.

- Married couple Nisha (Sharmila Tagore) and Dilip Mathur (Navin Nishchal) purchase a hotel in a scenic locale. The hotel soon attracts several young couples; ex-convict Deepak Khanna (Suresh Oberoi), who possesses dark secrets about Nisha's past; a police inspector (Chandrashekhar) who warns people against staying in this hotel; and journalist Lisa (Prema Narayan). One by one, people start turning up dead, brutally killed by person(s) unknown. What is this hotel's horrible secret?
- Thakur is a wealthy, principled, and punctual man, who will not tolerate anything, even music in his palatial home. Thakur's only motto in life is money, and each and every second is spent on making and earning money. His elder son, Amar Kumar rebels against this, and is warned. But Amar does not heed this warning, and falls in love with a poor gypsy girl, Jyoti, and both elope in order to escape the wrath of his dad. Thakur second son, Pawan Kumar, is sent away abroad so that there are no lingering bad influences on his life. Years later, Pawan returns home, and is the exact cold-hearted and arrogant image as his dad. Amar and his wife give birth to a son, and Amar writes to his dad to forgive him. Shortly thereafter the couple pass away, leaving their son, with Jyoti's sister, Dilruba. Thakur decides to forgive his late son and asks Pawan to go and bring his grandson home. Pawan sets forth to get his nephew, with the help of MGM, and meets a host of less-than-fortunate people. His attitude does not get him anywhere with Dilruba and he is forced to assume another identity, that of Aashiq, to try and get his nephew home. He does succeed in pulling wool over Dilruba's eyes and both eventually fall in love with each other - little knowing that his dad has already planned his marriage with wealthy Meenakshi and if he refuses he may suffer the same fate as Amar.
- Sandeep Anand is a wealthy industrialist. He runs an organization, and falls in love with one of his employees named Geeta, who comes from a lower middle class family, and wants to marry a man in the same class. Sandeep convinces her that he works for Mr. Anand, and both fall in love. When Geeta and her family find out that Sandeep has been lying to them, they have him arrested for impersonation. When Sandeep convinces the police that he is indeed the real Sandeep Anand, he is released. When Sandeep attempts to woo Geeta back, she will have nothing to do with him, as he lied to her. Sandeep will now have to prove his love for Geeta all over again.
- While on a tiger-hunt, aristocrats Thakur and Sehgal got into a dispute about which of them shot the tiger. The dispute escalated into fisticuffs and a gunfight; Sehgal got killed, and Thakur got seriously wounded. Sehgal's son swore to avenge his father's death and raced over to kill Thakur, who died before he could get there. Since then bitterness and anger has existed between these two families. Years later, Jai Singh Sehgal and Durga Digvijay fall in love with each other. Both Digvijay Thakur and Hari Singh Sehgal are against this marriage. Jai's brother Vishal manages to pacify his father and convinces him that it is in the best interest of both families that this marriage take place. Shortly thereafter, Vishal gets killed, and the only persons who could have killed him are Thakur's men. It is now up to Jai to avenge Vishal's death and sacrifice his love for Durga. Will he be able to carry out his duty?
- Dr Sunil Gupta, a gynecologist and Dr. Hira are partners in Prakash Nursing Home. Sunil treats his profession as an earning job unlike his father, who landed up in debt because of treating free the poor patients. Sunils' girlfriend Yashoda too is a doctor working in a government hospital treating the profession as a service. A patient being treated by Dr Hira dies due to his negligence but he saves his skin by firing the nurse. While operating on a minister's pregnant daughter-in-law, Manjula, Sunil is faced with a choice of saving either the mother or child. He opts for the former. The minister, Raosaheb, holds Sunil responsible for the child's death and lodges a complaint with the medical council. Dr Hira too sides with him against Sunil, getting him suspended. Sunil, in the meanwhile, comes to know about the truth of Hira's patient's death from the absconding nurse. Armed with the evidence he files a case in the court and wins. Chastened Sunil decides to follow in his father's footsteps.
