- A young boy saves a collie pup's life when his master is ready to move on and is about to shoot him. The pup is then free to roam the wilderness and must fight for existence along with the wolves. Acquiring wolfish ways, he is hunted throughout the range as the killer wolf. When the boy goes hunting for this killer wolf and stumbles upon the dog (now grown to adulthood) caught in a trap, he sets him free. The wolf-dog and the boy become friends, and when the boy falls into a trap, the dog fetches help. The searchers free the boy and are about to kill the dog but again the boy comes to his rescue, an act resulting in a permanent bond between man and beast.
- Lumber-mill owner Martin Webb gives half-ownership of his mill to lumberjack Bob Lanier, believing he's in love with his daughter Evelyn. When Martin dies, his manager schemes to get Bob out of the picture and take over the mill himself. Knowing that Evelyn is extremely possessive of Bob, his plan involves making it look like Bob, who is helping poor but pretty Leslie Houston support her crippled father, is having an affair with the young woman, and if that doesn't work, then he's prepared to do anything, including murder, to get the mill for himself.
- Jerry sees a poster offering $500 to anyone who can beat an 80 pound boxer. Figuring he can beat such a small man, he takes the challenge, unaware that kids had altered the poster, and the boxer is actually 180 pounds.
- A reporter and his girlfriend search for a lost treasure map, and wind up getting involved in a bizarre cult that worships the sun and believes that human beings should be offered as a sacrifice to their "god".
- Jerry, a hobo, is chased by a pair of policemen after accidentally interrupting their dice game and later woos a farm girl to get breakfast.
- Betty falls in love with Samuel Hayden, who was washed ashore after having survived a shipwreck. The self-acclaimed most religious man in town accuses a kindly man, whom he calls "The Devil," of robbing Samuel. Soon becoming bored with this slander, he attempts to break up the romance between Betty and Samuel, contriving to have her turned out by her stern father. Samuel is later discovered to be an escaped convict. This disclosure results in a series of escapades during which the true character of the village hypocrite and "The Devil" are revealed, showing the former to be vicious and the latter to be generous and benevolent.
- When suitors start courting his daughter, Daddy sends her off to boarding school. Crooks stealing a mummy bound for the school replace the mummy with a man.
- Breezy Bright, a laid-back cowboy working at the Widow McGee's ranch, has to constantly be on his toes in order to avoid the designs that the widow--aka "The Able-Minded Lady"--has on him.
- Sent home from college for playing pranks, Joe Sullivan goes to his father's western ranch to take the place of the deceased superintendent and is reunited with the decedent's daughter, Eileen Morgan, his college sweetheart. Joe is suspected of cattle rustling and accused of a murder committed by foreman Max Shultz, but he vindicates himself--despite his "greenness"--and tricks Shultz into a confession.
