Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966)
I actually waited for this
After reading everyone Else's reviews, I had to give Manos a 1 instead of following my gut and giving it a 2. When the film was over, I truly had to say that it wasn't the worst film I had ever watched. Mind you, I watched the actual movie first, not the MST3K version. (I ordered both, followed the original with the MST3K version... Yeah, I don't appreciate money, I know.) Anyway, the acting, the script, the production quality, yada-yada... It all sucked. I did find that Torgo's theme implanted itself into my feeble brain and I'm struggling to remove it, (actually, I am typing this while trying to position a drill to my frontal lobe.) I do wonder if this thing was made so poorly on purpose. If so, what a success at failure! I must admit, I am glad to own the film in both versions because now I have the ultimate torture device for my b-movie loving friends. I can tolerate a few watchings of this film, especially if someone else can feel my initial pain. Sadistic and cruel feeling on my behalf, but not as sadistic and cruel as this film.
Fertilizer salesman by day... fertilizer producer by night.
Hardcore Poisoned Eyes (2000)
Surprisingly Good
I found this film hidden in a 12-disc collection of low budget horror films. I usually watch these things for humor value and expect no form of decent acting or storyline. This one was however rather complete and devoid of the usual trappings of the typical B (or C) movie. The three characters are well developed and believable. The storyline actually makes sense and the religious comments throughout are thought-provoking at times. If you have about 90 minutes to kill and have this flick handy, it's definitely worth the time to watch. I liked it well enough to watch it again. I hope to see more from this crew in the future. Good job.
