Ich bin dein Mensch (2021)
Human Android Romance
When I first saw the trailer of this movie on IMDB I knew I had to see it. I am romantic person by nature, and I read a lot of romance novels. My favorite trope is enemies to lovers which is nearly the plot of this movie, so I knew I was going to like the movie. Tom does everything right even though Alma tries to show him wrong. One of my favorite scenes is Alma smiling at Tom when she sees him in the museum looking at the ancient statues and architecture. It was then that I knew she began to love him. The ending of this movie is my other favorite scene, and needs to be closely watched to be appreciated.
The Hunt (2020)
Betty Gilpin was fantastic!
This was the first film of Betty Gilpin that I've seen, and I was the very impressed. She made the character believable and her stunts were perfection. Since I wrote this review a while back I've watched it again. Betty should have been nominated for a award for an Academy Award. Her performance was #$!%^ great.
Shetland (2013)
Season 4 gets even better
I binjed watched all 4 seasons and 4 is hard to beat. I really enjoy Alison O'Donnell as Tosh. She steals the camera in some of her scenes. She delivers her comedic lines with perfection and her facial expressions reaveal the emotions her character is experiencing. She is the star in my opinion.
Endeavour: Confection (2019)
Disappointed in characters
The past seasons of this show were interesting and kept my attention, I liked the characters. It is almost like this season the writers have not seen the past episodes. The characters are not the same. Too much drama. Fred isn't the same copper. Win is dancing! What is next? I think this is the last season for me.
Cha-i-na-ta-un (2015)
Blew me away
The story is about an orphaned girl and an evil loan shark woman, and how she tries to survive in a world without love and full of murder.
This movie was hard to watch for me. One scene in particular is so cruel and bloody that I had to stop and take a break to continue. I am still thinking about the movie which for me is a sign of a good movie, and would very much like to discuss it with an English speaking Korean, because it was difficult to understand with just the English translation. I review few movies but this one definitely deserves a 10. I will watch it again if I ever get the chance. The acting from Go-eun Kim is excellent. You can understand her feelings just by looking at her eyes and face. Translations aren't necessary. Mother, played by Hye-su Kim, is also very good, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see both nominated for some award.
The Replacement Killers (1998)
One of Chow Yun-Fat's best and his first Hollywood movie
I have watched this movie so many times that I can't remember how many. Although I have read that Sorvino and Chow didn't get along very well during the filming, you would never know it based on the chemistry between the two of them on the screen. They are perfectly paired. The gunfight scenes in this movie are some of the best I have ever seen. More bullets fly than you can ever possibly count, and Chow Yun-Fat can shoot two guns with more determination than anyone else in the industry. He moves like art in motion. I have seen many of Chow's movies, and I consider this one to be one of his best, so if you like John Woo Hong Kong action movies you need to watch this one and watch the sparks fly.
