Who Is Erin Carter? (2023)
Lazy writing, would AI do better?
Yes it's entertaining, No it's doesn't do the job. It's the opposite of quality tv.
When 3 possibly 4 episodes would have been more than enough, the series drags on, and turns into a preposterous 7 episode buffoonery.
It's a poorly written series, cursed with countless plot holes and brimming with incoherences.
The story itself is completely hackneyed, there's not a single modicum of originality or creativity there.
It's merely another Netflix product meeting a false feminist agenda. The female protagonists are grotesque.
The question is really not WHO is Erin Carter but WHAT is Erin Carter?
Mothering Sunday (2021)
IF BORING WAS A FILM...
Mothering Sunday is the perfect choice to tuck oneself in bed. Boring, pretentious, shallow, a complete waste of time -- it's the "gem" insomniacs have longed for.
It's David Hamilton's Bilitis meets vapid French filmmaker Eva Husson.
An insipid and borderline soft porn flick one should imperatively avoid unless one suffers from sleep deprivation.
The acting is as flat as the Netherlands. Eva Husson has managed to turn very talented actors such as Colin Firth and Olivia Colman into rag dolls/zombies.
It's meant to collect dust
This lame cinematic attempt is indeed "so terribly distressing..."
Outcast (2010)
For the grace of God Give Me Back My 1h38 mins!
OUTCAST is most likely one of the worst films ever produced, sadly released in the 21st century!
It's not about the genre, since crap doesn't qualify as a genre in itself yet. After thinking that The RAZZIES awards had been created for such horrific celluloid attempts, I've realized it's even too tragically awful for the Razzies.
What in the name of the cinema Gods led James Nesbitt to waste his talent and commit to such a bad bad bad film!?
I mean come one, did he even read the script? Was it a bet with his agent? Was the writer related to him? Did the producers promise Nesbitt to play Manchester United's legend -- George Best in the aftermath? Someone with a decent career needs not to be an OUTCAST at any cost! #Lemon²
Tár (2022)
BORING
Boring and slow. By the way where is Kate Blanchett? I mean I saw a expression less face that has been disfigured by way too much plastic surgery. Her intensity, her truth, her humanity, her vulnerability vanished with her lifting.
So okey she's good alright. She's always brilliant anyway. You can tell she had to compose her character from scratch and she does master her part. Even though Kate and the other actors offer an impressive performance. It's not enough. Not redeeming.
I'll grant you that, it's not for everybody, And I sure feel left out.
I genuinely wanted to like this film. I didn't.
Armageddon Time (2022)
SERIOUSLY? Seriously boring.
I showed persistence, I desperately hoped the movie would get somewhere, would move me, or at the very least piqued my interest.
In the end, these one hour and thirty minutes were a total waste of time. 1 hour and 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back. That's all I could endure. All I could take before I threw in the towel. I didn't watch it until the end. The film is too boring and dull.
Some important questions get raised about differences, racial issues, religious backgrounds... There again flatlined EEG. The coming of age backdrop is just as torpid.
I wanted for the film to be good. The cast deserved it. The uber-talented Anthony Hopkins definitely deserved better. What a let down!
As for the kid, he is as charismatic of chicory. Armageddon it is for sure, since the film is a disaster.
Treason (2022)
BE KIND TO YOURSELF, DON'T WATCH THIS CRAP!
This series is amongst the worst wannabe "espionage" series you'll stumble upon.
What plot are we talking about? There was potential, but the poor writing and the ludicrous treatment failed it. Sadly, the story dissolves like salt in water. It's really like watching paint dry.
The characters are so dumb, it is utterly pathetic. It's devoid of any substance or edge.
MI6's portrayal is indeed a treason in itself. Treason against good taste. The sole redeeming factor is the photography. Nice views of London and the countryside.
Seriously how Netflix could give the green light to such rubbish is beyond my understanding. All things considered, Netflix's line up is getting more and more appaling.
I need to rewatch the excellent BBC series "Spooks" to regenerate my brain cells. .
Suspect (2022)
What a waste of talent!
What part of the screenplay could be even remotely appealing to a cast of this caliber? A meme spred on the internet, mocking Nesbitt's appareance. Indeed he does bear a striking resemblance to Fu Manchu. James Nesbitt is nearly 60 y.o, it's ridiculous to be plastered in makeup, and hair/ brows dye. It's a distraction if anything.
So much seems exaggerated and overracted. The directing is lame, the dialogue is poor, the storyline is sloppy, the lighting is bad, and the pace is slow. It looks and sounds theatrical, which in itself is not a turn-off; however the problem with Suspect is that the series' theatrics don't work.
Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022)
WANNABE TRANSGRESSIVE FALLEN SHORT
Overall the writing is strong and the acting subtle.
However, we're "talking" films, not radio, not theater. It's so verbous and self-indugent that it just ends up being full blown boring. This is basically a film made for Emma Thompson and her circle of priviledged friends. The ones who never pay to see a play or a movie. The VIPS who have too much time on their hands to understand and comprehend the real world.
This huis-clos is already dated. It's a far cry from anything transgressive and memorable. As for the final scene, it's uncalled for and plain ridiculous. It's a cheap shocker. A call for attention, a buzz scene devoid of any real strength and interest. "Good Luck" indeed to that film, because if ever needed, it will keep people, the ones who crave real good entertainment away from cinemas.
The Hustle (2019)
DON'T EVEN BOTHER...Yarn
It's so bad, it makes you feel uncomfortable. Go for the genuine article: DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS where silly is actually smart. Rebel Wilson should - rebel - and ask her agent to land her better parts. I'm convinced she's talented enough to shine in roles where the whole plot is not based on her weight, or indulge in fatso humiliation. Anne Hathaway is transparent. And we know for a fact; she's sooooo much better than this epic movie fail. Leave the "funny" to Steve Martin, he knows better, she should as well. Go watch Dirty Rotten Scoundrels now!
Are you still here reading this???
Call Me by Your Name (2017)
Langor mixed with Longueurs
I strongly suggest you watch the genuine article. In 1987, James Ivory directed and co-wrote a masterpiece, and it's called "Maurice".
"Call me by your name" is a beautifully shot commercial for the italian countryside though.
Requiem (2018)
Awful writing & dreadful directing
Lydia Wilson's acting proves scarier than Requiem itself. Netflix/BBC didn't save any money marketing this self-proclaimed horror series that sadly wasn't saved by a decent ensemble cast. It's a succession of lousy shots and rather poor performances.
Downton Abbey fans rushed to see Brendan Coyle who did his best but couldn't do much with what he had. True horror fans will most likely laugh their heart out. Situations are so ridiculous and senseless it's painful to watch. The haunting soundtrack is an invasive and overpowering crutch. If you're into horror flix, don't waste your time, it's a dud.
