Battle: Los Angeles (2011)
You have already seen this... many times.
I give this movie rating of 3/10. Here is why:
1. Forced characters development with no actual result; you didn't care about any of them
2. Story with totally generic reason for alien invasion (water?!?! there is more then one planet in just our solar system with free water and with no local population that protects it)
3. Totally ridiculous, pointless and boring monologue section somewhere in middle of film, that's so boring, that I rather played with straws from my juice than watch this part. And you can clearly see main actor reading this part from some screen; he looks at guy to witch he is talking, then looks to side to read his dialog, then looks back to guy he is talking to, then again to screen and he repeats that couple more times.
4. totally predictable story with no suspense and mystery; I manage to predict in exact second when someone will die; I started to count from 10 to 0, and when I got to zero that guy has died :D
5. Totally unrealistic way aliens fight; They came from outer space, but their first way of attaching is by infantry?? They got later couple flying crafts and rocket lunching mules(?!) but that's it.
6. Ending is so poor that I felt sorry that aliens didn't win.
7. quote from Wikipedia page for this film: "Jonathan Liebesman intended the film to be a realistic depiction of an alien invasion in the style of a war film" - thrust me, there is nothing realistic in this movie; from marines shouting and cheering as loud as possible at their commander who manage to destroy one enemy craft, while they are surrounded by enemies and are actually "trying" to hide from them, to resistance of aliens to bullets; firs, they can't kill them at all, and after dissecting dead alien, they find "magic" spot and they manage to kill them with single bullet.
8. Irritating "hand held camera" effect, that made this film even more unwatchable.
I hope that this 8 reasons will be enough for most of you to avoid this film and save you some money; wait till it comes on DVD or BR and rent it. I personally felt sorry for watching this film, and I don't recommend it to anybody.
The Legend of Secret Pass (2010)
It's OK, but confusing.
My main problem with this animated film was his story and presentation of that story to viewer. First of all, I don't know anything about native American legends and stories, so I think that anybody who is not familiar with that, will have trouble following this story. They have spend more running time of this film on stupid and many times seen attempts at slapstick comedy, then on explaining story to someone for who is this first contact with this mythology. And story issues are main problem with most of recent animated films; you can't compete with Pixar on visual and animation field, but you can be creative with story, and story development.
Next thing that I didn't like, was visual style of some characters; they had "fake" shading; some shadows and highlights ware simply painted on texture of characters. Even that look kind of good in some situations, and it was in style with overall visual feel of film, but unfortunately it looked weird and bad in most of situations. That made characters look "artificial" and lifeless; except few hard shadows, and some direct light, there was little or none visual interaction of characters with environment.
What I liked, was music witch was nicely composed and made nice audio mood, and I liked animation of characters; some characters ware animated better then others, but lucky there was more good animation, then mediocre or bad one. Good animation of characters kind of fixed bad lighting and texturing, and also made characters interesting.
So, in the end, this film is nothing special, and if you don't know back story you will be confused. Watch it if you don't have anything smarter to do.

2012: Doomsday (2008)
Objective opinion
First of all, let's put a side fact that this is low budget movie and forget about not so good special effects (there is couple of decent looking effects), and other things related to lack of funds. So, I will critic only acting, story and directing; thing witch shouldn't be related to money, because with a little bit of logic, intelligence and some talent, you can make this things good no mater how many money you have.
Fist things that ware totally wrong are characters Dr. Frank Richards and Dr. Trish Lane. Dale Midkiff (Frank) has some decent list of films and series he has act in, so there is basically no excuse for his bad acting; he's acting like he is on some heavy antidepressant, because there is no single emotional expression from him; wooden stick will act better! And Caroline Amiguet character Dr. Trish Lane is totally out of place; apparently here and Dr. Frank have some "history", but she looks like she can be his daughter. But worst thing is her totally fake accent witch doesn't make any seance; she sounds like retarded Romanian girl who had mute English teacher, but her name is TRISH LANE, typical American name! Where is logic in that?! Here acting is also bad, but she hasn't much experience, so I can somehow forgive her acting, even I think that she will be much better without that accent, because she is obviously spending more energy on that stupid accent, then on acting.
Then Alex and Sarah characters. In context of entire movie, I think that this character are somehow decent, even they have there bad moments, but this is mainly because of bad script.
I totally didn't like Susan and Mrs. Reed (Susan's mother) characters. They both are totally flat with forced emotions and some totally annoying, boring and plain stupid dialogs about God, Judgment day and related stuff. Even in this case, some fault is on script, but I think that they wouldn't do any much better with good script. But Shirley Raun (Mrs. Reed) is extremely bed... She is so iterating that I wish that someone hit her in her face to shut up!
Directing is also really bed... scenes are badly connected,
And what totally bothers me about this movie, is this all around religious tone of film. It looks like some sort of religious propaganda movie, and very bad one. They mix some things that have never been related (Mayan culture and Christianity) and they do It totally wrong with no sense what so ever! Script is total mess without head and tail, with enormous holes in story and with totally stupid explanations. It looks like they didn't even reed the script, because if they have, they will see what piece of BS it is.
I think that people who make all this crappy movies, should invest there money in some young and talented people, who can actually make decent script and know how to act and direct a film, and just for once, try to make normal film with normal plot, and not try to make some "blockbusters" because they obviously can't do that. I will just for once like to see Asylum's logo on one movie with IMDb rate higher then 3.
Overall, movie is bad, and is bad because stupid people made it, not because it has cheap special effects or low budget...
