Der letzte Mohikaner (1965)
Last of the Mohicans is one one my favorite book and movies.. along with Treasure Island. I found a lot of this funny. It action packed.
Although the original storyline was during 1758, during the French and Indian war. So as to not confuse anyone. The time was advanced up to the 1870's out west in America. Major Haywood's rank has been lowered to that of A Captain.
There are American white bad men, who lush after gold. The yellow stones and dust, Magua is still a bad Indian, he wants Cora. Unmasked will fight Magua , the loser must die. The winner gets Cora. I was cheering for Magua. The fight with tomahawks was rather good. Then they ended up with spears. Not the female singer. If you read the book you knows what happens. I will not tell how it ends. The DDLewis movie was based on the 1936 movie NOT the book. I did enjoy this movie.
Swashbuckler (1976)
My wife and I seen this movie at the theater when it was released in the late 70's. We both liked it.
I like Robert Shaw, like pirate movies. I did enjoy this move very when I seen it in 1979 or when ever it came out. I brought the paper back book. I got the VHS rapt, later I got the DVD and I got a mini poster. This is a one ship pirate movie. That's ok. It told the story, and a good one at that. I do have a pirate figure that I painted to match Robert Shaw's character . One ship? No problem with me. I have a number of ships . I have one ship for the Spaniards, other ship for the British navy hunting pirates and lots of pirates.. this is all fun stuff. Someone thought Zorro was copying mthe clothes cutting seen after this movie. Errol Flynn had more, so what big deal. Muppets Treasure Island had songs i their pirate move. Why compared? Just watch this movie and forget about the others.
Treasure Island (1990)
Best movie by far of Treasure Island. Sticking the closet to the book by Robert Louis Stevenson.
I have loved this story since I read it about 70 years ago. Since I liked it so much my mother brought me the book published in 1955,by Whitman Publishing Company' Racine, Wisconsin. We did have aTV for 10 or 12 years. That was ok with me. I knew how to read. This is indeed the greatest pirate story ever written.
Since then I've brought other copies with different illustrations by different artists. I also am found of toy soldiers. That includes pirates. I painted a figure for every person mentioned in the book. I made a figure for the man with hand-barrow--one of the unnamed pirates that were marooned at the end of the story. Even the lad who rides for help and Admiral John BenBow . Then I wrote an encyclopedia of sorts, about the books, the movies and the figures. Yup. I do love this story.
I also loved the movie from 1990. I can say I love,,,,love is someone or something you like deeplyThat movie is the greatest telling of the book. Oliver Reed was absolutely awesome as Billy Bones. I made three figures of Billy Bones, 1 standing by the cove scanning the waters of ships coming into port.2 standing with a mug of rum in one hand and his cutlass in the other hand, and 3 with a cutlass in one hand and a pistol in the other hand, in order to fight Black Dog. I really liked Captain Flint , the re-headed Mexican Amazon. I had one for 28 years.
The Great Locomotive Chase (1956)
Parker does it again
After seeing Fess Parker as Davy Crockett. That got me started into history. So when this movie came out I seen it at the theater, Wow, I was blown away, I had the Marx civil war playset. I knew about this story of the train. I read everything I could fine about the train chase.
This movie is really accurate in many things it portrays. I remember Cheerios cereal had the trains on the cereal box. I made sure my mother brought all the trains on the box. I like Cheerios, so I didn't mind. I ate it all so I could put the trains together and chase each other. This movie I have in my civil war collection on DVD.
American Outlaws (2001)
Hollywood shoot them up. Movie of the week. Nothing more
Over100,000 soldiers fought during the civil war, when it was over, they went on with their life's, they didn't turn to crime as an excuse PDS. Yes war is hell! This is pure Hollywood garbage.watch it's cowboy entertainment, nothing more than that.. almost all of the real Bad Men died with their boots on. Dead from lead or the rope..
