Rudy (1993)
Hollywood Mythology
As a younger viewer,I admit I enjoyed this film.As an older, more skeptical one,I have a different perspective. It's a Hollywood Horatio Alger story of how one can achieve their goals with determination and pluck.
Well,I would love a date with THE FLASH's Danielle Panabaker However,I don't think any level of determination will get me said date but rather arrested,a restraining order and an ass kicking.
He did not work at the mill for four years but rather was in the Navy for two years and then worked at the mill. He should have been able to use his GI Bill benefits to pay Holy Cross tuition.

Second,Rudy was a poor advocate for his own cause. He was not 5 nothing and 100 nothing but 5'6" and 185 lbs.Yet,he played defensive line and was a shoving dummy until the last minute of the last game of his career. He should have lobbied to play special teams, third down defensive back or third down running back;more playing time and possible pro scout attention.

Lastly, like many of our "heroes," Rudy has feet of clay. In 2011,he settled SEC claims of running a pump and dump scheme;energy drink company he ran. Think of the movie BOILER ROOM.

Watch with a critical eye...
Ted Bundy (2002)
Factual Misrepresentations Up the Wazoo
This film does have some merit but it is loaded with factual and material misrepresentations: 1: Bundy tells his girlfriend he flunked law school and is now flunking psychology. Wrong. He graduated in 1972 with a degree in psychology; briefly attended Univ. of Puget Sound law school but dropped out, reputedly due to his opinion of the lack of quality of the schooling.
2: The Utah arrest: He is shown as being arrested in Utah in early 1976. Incorrect. He was arrested in Utah on August 16, 1975 on suspicion of burglary.
3: The attempt to kidnap the girl at the mall in Utah. In that situation, he wore a fake mustache.
4: The murder of the cheerleader. He did kidnap a 16 year old high school student but she was not dispatched in the lot; witnesses and investigators found a handcuff key in the lot and one claimed to have seen a VW bug speeding.
5: The second escape from Colorado: He had a beard during this time and stopped in Michign before arriving in Florida.
6: The Florida arrest: He is shown as kicking back in a van and being arrested in daylight. In real life, he was driving a stolen car at 3:00-4:00 am out of the lot of an eatery that had been closed for a few hours. The cop was suspicious of this car being parked at and then leaving a vacant eatery lot, ran the plate and saw it was a stolen VW bug.
Furthermore, this film shows him to be somewhat inept, incompetent and comical. I doubt he walked about day to day in a bow-tie.
He did wear a bow-tie at his Utah trial but from all accounts, he wore brown and gray suits and slacks with sweaters and jeans and was not that inept. He appeared more like Stiffler from American PIE, just more of a bad attitude and a knack for theft and shoplifting.
This movie did not portray his interactions with Washington's politicos and Republican Party elites nor his relationship with Ann Rule. It was a Friday THE 13th MEETS American PIE.
In sum, THE DELIBERATE STRANGER with Mark Harmon is a superior film and USA Films' THE STRANGER BESIDE ME and A&E's THE RIVERMAN up there as better quality films about the enigma called Ted Bundy.
