Run (2020)
Underwhelming
Run has an unoriginal premise and a weak, almost non existent story made worse by an unsatisfying conclusion. Good performances from lead actors (Domhnall Gleeson and Merritt Wever) are the only reason to watch this series, but it is a colossal waste of their talent.
Chuck & Buck (2000)
Cringey, creepy, and somewhat heart warming
Chuck and Buck is a lesser known stalker infatuation film, but it is definitely one of the greatest. Buck (Mike White) is a young man struggling to balance his arrested development, as well as suppressed homosexuality rooted in his childhood. Chuck (Chris Weitz) is Buck's childhood friend who is thrusted back into his life after the death of Buck's mother. Chuck (now known as Charlie) is engaged and happily employed, but when Buck is thrusted back into his life, Charlie is forced to evade Buck's advances, as well as the dark secret of his youth.
Chuck and Buck is black comedy/drama that will have you laughing due to some of the absurdity, or it will make you ponder leaving the theater or stopping the movie due to your discomfort. The soundtrack, mixed with the colorful imagery in the film is able to capture this feeling of disgusting childhood nostalgia, and bleak reality despite a low budget. Chuck and Buck is a beautifully disturbing film, and if you can overlook some of the cheap camera work you are in for a real treat!
