Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Good, entertaining. One of the only entertaining modern superhero movies
I love how there are a few laughs throughout the movie. Venom and Eddies relationship and interesting have merit. I wish more superhero/marvel movies and tv shows were less politically fired like these two Venom movies are an example of how it is possible to still make fun movies in the modern age.
It's a shame the media world has recently, for the most part been taken over by people who simply want another cash cow or bad watered down writing or overworked collaborations with groups of people that clearly hate each other and are just there for money. So naturally, this is a breath of fresh air. I am however anticipating these movies and characters to get destroyed/hated or cancelled just like most of the entertainment I love has been...
I am planning on purchasing both Venom and Let there be carnage on dvd sooner than later :)
The Tick: The Tick (2016)
Unique gem of the 2010s decade. Love it, great writers
Oh man, this is one of the funniest shows I've seen in a while. I didn't think shows like this were allowed to exist anymore. I love a superhero tv show/movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, it's fantastic =D They also handled homosexuality in a funny manner that doesn't shove it right in our face, all the time. Love it, great writing. I am disappointed that all my favourite shows are cancelled after one or two seasons. Almost Human, Knight Rider (2016), Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, among others. Many jokes, I know it costs a lot to make but so do many, MANY, disappointing, uninteresting tv shows that (at least I feel) should be cancelled long before they are. Man, what a gem.
Uncharted (2022)
I wanted the Nathan Drake from the original games, not the remake
I mean, I get what they were trying to do but the story is so unrealistic and the remade game was originally a terrible story/remake of the character. The cat thing was good. Mark & Antonio did a good job but the story was see through and I was disappointed that I didn't get a Indiana Jones story, Nathan Drake style. And why did you split the story into two movies!? Every movie out there these days is absolute garbage to please Karens and saturated toxic Zoomers. The ships shouldn't be that put together after being exposed to the elements for years and years. NO helicopter could pick something so heavy as that, and what is this? Peter Pan!? (With so many used lines and movies referenced at the end that it felt like a complete rip- Peter Pan style).
Hellboy (2019)
Nothing's going to be like the old Hellboy
Nothing's going to be like the old Hellboy but this is better than a lot of other movies released in 2019. Could definitely watch a second one but please, don't cater to the zoomers, everything they love is coated in childish women and toxicity... or worse people who don't know/can't accept what they are. This movie reminds me of the Doom game- the first remake.
(The second Doom remake they ruined the music by ripping off the guy who made music for the first one).
Pretty neat creatures (especially the stuff revolving around main characters). May not have been the best story but still had potential. Especially with all the rushed crap out today, glad it was made before the Covid pandemic began. If you watch the trailer before hand or read spoilers or go in expected greatness, you will always be disappointed with movies. Still a lot of CGI, I wish movies did things more like the lord of the rings did it (not the Hobbit movies)- however that is a bit more work. Will give props for some of it, like Hellboy himself mainly being always real. All CGI live action movies don't age, as you can tell the Lord of the rings still has detailed creatures.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Seems better than most movies I've seen in 5 years
I feel like it's at least a little better than most movies I've seen in 10 years. It feels somehow, less catered to the Zoomer generation. Feels more like the original jurassic park movies. Still too much CGI, so it won't age well like most modern movies but could be worse.
Writing and feel of the whole thing seems somehow less motivated by women power and other political thoughts.
Not reliant on a huge amount of cliches, someone actually put a little effort into writing this story or didn't over rush it like most these days.
Finally, a movie I can tolerate watching agaIn.
Lightyear (2022)
Unsure but I love the buzz and zurg were in it at least
It was everything I wanted from a buzz lightyear movie... but not. It kinda seems like someone stuck each scene together to make them work but a part of me feels like each scene had its own idea of what the movie should be or could of been...
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2020)
There's something about the lack of the traditional hand drawn style....
The hand drawn was a big part of this show and the 3D look kinda destroys it, granted it has a unique 3D look but that can never replace the original style. The story line was also ignorant of the lore and first few seasons stories. A few examples are Gary has already got lost before, Spongebob and Sandy met at a completely different time than this movie claims and Gary and Spongebob also met at a different time - I believe a couple years before the tv show started. King Neptune has changed a lot, why?
The first movie, will always be the best movie. Just as the first few seasons of the tv show will always be the best seasons.
Also the encouragement of gambling and Las Vegas references / similarities should have never been added to kids movies. Kids want to be like spongebob, love him and this is going to make them think it's cool to do. It should be unacceptable to include such references in a movie made for and targeted to children.
However, I did like the burger car showing up again referencing the one in the original movie. Plus, Keanu was a neat addition. The snails at the end were amusing, as well as king neptune letting it all out.
The Witcher (2019)
Season 1 is an 8 out of 10
Season 1 has entertained me more than any tv show has in at least a few years, I am surprised that this is actually written pretty well. Actually has potential.
The seasons after this might be different though.... watch this space.
Almost Human (2013)
Great Show - Bring It Back
I watched all 13 episodes. Great story and characters. Each episode was another to capture your attention and wonder. Would be great to see more episodes. It was created in a interesting setting and with a well made plot to go with it. The world with overflowing new tech creates a whole world of different crime from reality, it keeps things interesting. Did Fox really cancel this so the Kardashians could have more screen time? That doesn't sound right at all. Should definitely bring it back. There may be shows in the past that I loved more, but I definitely would say this is well worth watching. It is far more intriguing than the Kardashians arguing all the time. Almost Human made it to the TV here and I'm so glad it did. It is worth watching even if it stays a cancelled TV show.
Ghostbusters (2016)
Slightly surpirised
I had low hopes for this movie, honestly I thought it was going to be extremely terrible- just a silly parody of a classic. I wasn't even going to watch it in the first place. Although cheesy at times, it was surprisingly comedic and the CG was fairly cool. I liked the colors they used as a scheme, especially the green to signify evil just like the original GB and The Lion King. It also seemed more thought out than I initially assumed it would be.
To be honest the trailer looked horrible & cheesy, the cast looked worse and the overall rating spoke for itself. Definitely not as bad as I initially thought. Don't be so critical and harshly throw this movie in the dumpster immediately, give it a chance. It'll never be the classic Ghostbusters (or a favourite movie of mine), but it is definitely a comedic version that doesn't completely shame the Ghost Busters name.
