The Jungle Book (2016)
The Jungle Book (2016)
I just want to get out that if this movie doesn't get at least a nomination for an Academy Award then not only would it be very disappointing, it be very disingenuous for the major motion pictures that they promote.
The 2016's Disney Jungle Book is directed by Jon Favreau and is another live-action interpretation of Rudyard Kipling's novels with the same name. Now there's been a lot of recent classic Disney animated movies being turned into live action spectacle such as this one. Though now that I think about it the movies don't really stand similar with the original. Nevertheless, this movie, I must say, is probably the best live-action Disney movie I've seen in years!
The acting I think is pretty great. The casting for this is gold. Baloo is played by Bill Murray, what better person as a laid back fun guy. Ben Kingsley as Bagheera is great. When he is sentimental, when he needs to be. Though, I never really found him that menacing, more or less as a big, cuddly kitty. Scarlett Johansson as Kaa is pretty awesome. Now, with a great voice like that, it can't go unnoticed from the sound department where you can hear the echoing of the hisses that break each one of her submissive sentences. What is more awesome is that if you stay for the credits you will, for once, hear Kaa's hypnotizing song in full length with Scarlett singing. However, she never really played a major role other than producing exposition for no reason than because the script said it should. It was interesting to me when I learned that Kaa isn't actually a villain in the original books. Next is the amazing, one-of-a-kind, Christopher Walken as none other than the king himself, King Louie. Not only that he actually sings a little from the original cartoon. 'I Wannna Be Like You' will be forever remembered, for me, as him actually singing it. Also he sings the whole song at the end credits, so stay and watch that. Next is Idris Elba as Shere Khan. He, on the other hand, is very menacing as an antagonist. He isn't a star that I have seen a whole lot from, but man does he have a voice. The funny thing I should mention is that Idris has played the chief in Zootopia, and also will have a role in the new Finding Dory as well. He's great and I can't say any more than that I just said. Finally Neel Sethi played Mowgli. He was fine. I can't say that he did an amazing job, but I can't say he did a bad one as well. I can tell that they did as much as they could to boost his enthusiasm for the character. So there's some parts where he tries to say the lines, but they are a little too different than what the scene is trying to convey. He great at the emotional scenes, but don't let that stop you from seeing this movie.
I find the story to be very fun and exciting. I like the adventure aspect very much, than I really care for Mowgli's goals. I do enjoy the message of having him to find who he truly is as a good lesson for the character to actually see that he is in fact human. The part where he runs through the jungle with fire and accidentally catches the jungle on fire and where he concludes his character arch for deciding to go with the wolf pack. I find this story to be very linear and which it should be as a family movie. I recommend that you watch it soon and on the big screen where you can hear the music, the sound, the voice acting and you can see the photo-realistic animals; all for your choosing of coarse.
A.N.T. Farm (2011)
The keystone to what Disney Channel is today
What is going on with Disney Channel right now? Well after seeing (most of) this show I can sadly say that it has become the epitome of how I view Disney Channel.
I can't even say something good to give it some justice. So what this show is it's a comedy that has a lousy script that makes it effortless for the writers to do work. These writers don't have a clue on how to write kids and what their social life is. Since it is a channel for teens, preteens, or maybe even children watch this garbage, the "actors" have to be at the same brain level as the target audience even if the adults have to act like children and not real people.
The main part is to keep the audience at least captivated for a half of an hour and to just have lame boring humor that only a young child could laugh at. I can't see anyone my age (17) or older to actually laugh and care for this show. Ultimately there are going to be people that doesn't agree with me but the characters are as bad as the flat jokes that exhale through their lungs. I can't really say for their acting capabilities since the directors doesn't really put forth any effort. Their young and barely inexperienced but I don't have any remorse for the adults that may have actually took acting classes. Though they don't have much of a script to work with it's still the whole thing has to be a team effort therefore it doesn't work for me.
One thing with Disney Channel these days is to take their young stars and cash in the success what brings to them. After take in the next in line to be celebrity and who knows what will happen to them after. They picked China a youthful girl that would already become a success on her own, but chose this career instead. They haven't done anything spectacular and will be surprised to see any brilliance come upon them later in their acting career.
I can't relate to the characters, it has no redeeming jokes, directing is lazy including the writing, and the acting can't even come off as a school play. I'm not able to recommend this to anyone that is older than a toddler because believe it or not if the channel had a face it would be A.N.T. Farm with no questions asked.
Now I haven't gone in detail on what doesn't work in this show and for good reason because you see if I did that would mean that I take up more room and time for you to read my thoughts on A.N.T. Farm. So if you are still curious on seeing how bad it really is and why this was a particularly short rant on this subject. Than if you still want to see for your self in the nonsense than don't come back at all.
