The Curse (2023)
Waste of my Time?
So I am giving this show a 5 for the excellent and cringe worthy acting. I have to admit I hated most of the characters in this series but it was so compelling that I kept watching. Then...the last episode. WTF? Kept waiting for someone to come out of a dream or something. I'm sure it was supposed to have some type of deeper meaning but I just didn't get it. I felt cheated of my happy ending where they get their comeuppance. All the other episodes were mostly compelling. Socially awkward people who just don't get it. Money can buy anything, even "friends". Watch this show for the acting but don't expect to get a decent ending or just skip last episode.
Harry & Meghan (2022)
What's with all the Hate?
What a sad tale of a fairy tale love story. I've rated it 10 stars to offset the 1's. Meg and Harry seem like a grounded couple that is in an impossible situation that no one can understand. I really liked the series. It was able to tell their story from their perspective. It also tells the story of our broken media. Where internet trolls have more power than trustworthy news outlets. This is a worldwide problem of what media we can trust and believe. What should of been a dream life turned into a nightmare. I hope that leaving the stifling atmosphere of the royal family lets them flourish. I wish them the best for the rest of their lives.
Four Hours at the Capitol (2021)
America's Embarrassment
I could care less about your political beliefs but what happened to these police officers was disgraceful. Americans attacking officers just doing their jobs. I cried watching Michael Fanone getting dragged into the crowd and tasered. I hope these terrorists are served justice. I watched this happen live but this documentary was able to bring it all together.
The Last Cruise (2021)
No Real Substance
It was like a bad found footage movie. These passengers are the reason I don't cruise anymore. Self absorbed and selfish. No thoughts about the safety of the crew. This doc could have been so much more about how crew members are treated to keep these boats afloat.
Uncut Gems (2019)
I don't understand the 1's
So I usually know it's my kind of movie when it's either rated a 1 or an 8-10. That tells me only people who appreciate good storytelling and acting understand this movie. Yes, it's loud, stressful and chaotic with ugly characters and bad decisions. This is not going to be wrapped up in a pretty bow for the sensitive movie watchers. If you value good movie making that isn't mass produced for middle America watch this movie.
Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen (2020)
I Didn't Know I Needed to See This Movie
Just finished watching this documentary. I loved watching the evolution of the trans character in movies. Grew up watching most of the movies they showcased and didn't realized how skewed the perception of the trans person is. I remember so clearly seeing "The Crying Game" and feeling ashamed afterward that I had felt repulsion at the character finding out he was dating a transwoman. I hope that more straight people will watch this documentary and and get a little glimpse into their lives and hopefully gain empathy for their struggles.
The Aeronauts (2019)
Really Good "Uplifting" Movie
Just finished watching this movie and loved it. Didn't know about the history and really didn't care. Tired of whiny men complaining lately about accuracy in gender or race. How many women and POC have been pushed aside in movies for the white male hero? Some of the best movies are not really historically accurate. So just enjoy the movie for what it is. A good story.
The Big Bang Theory: The Stockholm Syndrome (2019)
Horrible ending to a great show
I really loved this show, some seasons have been better than others. This ending was really bad. Why did they have to make Penny pregnant? She didn't want kids. They spent a whole episode on it. It is so unfathomable for people to understand that some women don't want kids...so they had to make her have them..by "accident". Lame. Then Sheldon suddenly realizes that he's a jerk. I get it but just seemed forced. Never finished Raj's storyline or maybe he is destined to be Howard's wingman forever. Sad to see the show go but glad it's over.
My 600-lb Life: Doug's Story (2017)
Why Have Babies?
Show is always frustrating for me. This episode especially so. Why would someone have babies with a 660 lb man and then complain that they feel like a single mom. Big surprise, no pun intended. Why not wait to have babies until both of you are healthy? It can't be good for kids.
