Not bad

Confusing and a bit confused. The plot does not really make much sense.

Boring
2 January 2020
As much as you want to like this headbanger's flick, it feels poorly constructed and formulaic. Painting as the outcome of a painful, preverbal and primal form of "inspiration" is such a ridicously sedimented romantic trope that"s impossible to escape, here it is taken to absolutely ludicrous heights.

Excellent

Probably the most talented horror movie director activetoday, able to work withinn the tropes of the genre to talk about unresolved traumas, hidden memories, inability to be transparent and decent. Solid and painful talent.

One of must see of the year, no matter your relationship with the comic, the movie or even superheroes in general.

Tragic

Sensational fail for a director normally more than interesting director: pretentious and banal at the same time. it may have been shot 100 years ago for sexual allusions, "avantgarde" technique and anatomical study. silly sound-track.

Nice

Fun, the constant awareness told to every occasion of the recording tools and the construction of the documentary truth, the gritty Paris, good soundtrack but used in an invasive way, beautiful alternation of official moments and everyday life, Derrida puts in perspective and at the same time embodies the model of the philosophic master elevated from the academic institution to an Olympic height, unperturbed, aristocratic. Naturally agreable and camera-ready: among the best bits, the well-known impasse on "amour"

Meh

Extremely boring exercise in retro "hauntology" imagery void of any recognisable value apart from the era specific hipsterism.

Confusing.

From flashy to messy: shares weirdly something with one of the best movies of 2019 - Parasite - but not consistency and quality. Survival horror camera work in the first half, too easy messy thrills in the second. Not too bad tho.

Amazingly clever and well conducted, but also disheartened cold exercise in meta fictionality. Can't really participate to enthusiasm of some raving reviews altough I liked it.
