Cold Creek Manor (2003)
Another wannabe-classic
Summary: The Tilson-family decides to move from New York to a countryside mansion, because of their stressed up life in the city. The possessions of the former owners, the Massie-family are still in the house, and as the house is being renovated, Cooper Tilson who is a film-maker tries to make a Documentary about the Massie-family. Suddenly, the son of the former owner, Dale Massie, comes along after being released from jail. He gets a job at the construction site, and in the beginning he is well-liked by the Tilsons. But then strange things begin to happen, and it has got something to do with Dale. It turns out he has a dark history.
Well, what can I say? The movie has a great couple of actors. Dennis Quaid, Sharon Stone and Stephen Dorff, but they constantly struggle to keep the story alive. The movie tries to deliver a creepy aura, but fails. Also, when people buy the movie, they probably expect a horror movie somewhat like The Haunting, but they get a drama/thriller without anything supernatural at all. I won't recommend it, unless you enjoy those TV-shows about building houses, as that is the main subject.
Proteus (1995)
Not very good at all...
The movie is about a group of narko-traders, who, after a bad heroin-trade gets their boat blown up in open ocean. They manage to rescue themselves onto an abandoned oil-rig, which turns out to be a scientific research laboratory, where "evil" scientist made experiments on sharks. It has got some nice make-up effects, but the characters has NO depth, and the horror is based on some large shocks. Imagine a weird mix of "Children of the Corn III," "Deep Blue Sea," "The Blair Witch Project" and "Resident Evil." By "wierd" I mean silly. If you have ever seen the movie "Creatures" you'd know what to expect. See it if... someone force you.
