The Last Dragonslayer (2016)
A fun movie
Ignore the overly pedantic critics, this is a very easy to enjoy movie. It's not meant to be anything special, just a good old fashioned family fantasy movie. If you go in expecting it to be a blow-you-away Hollywood blockbuster then you just won't enjoy it. It won't win awards for filmmaking but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this movie.
Grey's Anatomy: How to Save a Life (2015)
Don't look at the score
This episode is outstanding. There are reviews on this page that would lead you to believe otherwise but those reviews truly show how good this episode is. This episode was designed to emotional destroy the viewers. By God did it do its job. He's gone, he's not coming back. That's it. So yes, the show has killed off arguably the most popular character and everyone is distraught. Do not however take this out on the writers. This is not a "poorly written episode" it is a fantastic tribute to one of the finest TV Doctors of all time. It starts with Derek, saving 4 crash victims in a very 'McDreamy' fashion. Then he becomes the victim of an accident himself and due to a poorly trained trauma department in the nearest hospital, he doesn't make it and leaves Meredith to pick up the pieces. Just because an episode makes you sad does not make it bad. No, this is not a 4 star episode. Yes this is a 10 star episode.
The Sitter (2011)
Incredibly underrated.
Despite being a comedy movie with a lot of chaos as practically everything goes wrong when Noah Griffith takes the kids he's babysitting on a road trip to get some drugs for his 'girlfriend' this movie shows a lot of character growth and has a very good 'moral' behind it.
For instance, Noah tells Slater of how he has realised that Slater doesn't have any big problems and that he is actually gay. Noah helps Slater a lot in his acceptance of his sexuality by telling him how in college no one will care and how it is perfectly okay to be gay. Also Noah realises that his hot girlfriend is just using him and doesn't have any actual feelings for him and ditches her for a nicer girl from his old astronomy class who admits to have been too shy to talk to him at school. Finally Slater confronts Rodrigo about how scary he can be which helps Rodrigo to open up more to his new family meaning they can all get along better.
So no this movie is not as bad as people are making it out to be, it is actually a very funny movie with a very good ending.
Hick (2011)
Strangely decent movie.
When I started this movie I was thinking to myself for the first half of it "oh no what is this?" But despite it's strange and slightly dark themes this movie does turn out to be a reasonable watch.
It shows Chloë Moretz's character journey across America on her trip to Las Vegas which she never actually visits. Along the way she meets Glenda and Eddie who both are very disturbed characters in their own way who turn out to have some history together.
The main reason I only gave this movie 6 stars is due to the very dark themes that occur occasionally in the movie. For instance: a 13 year old girl tied to a bed or the same girl being sexually assaulted in the Ladies Bathroom.
The movie ends on a happy note as Luli is heading to Los Angeles to hopefully live with the sister of the cabin's owner.
In conclusion this movie is very strange and throughout has many dark moments but shows lots of character development and personally I can't say I didn't enjoy it a little bit.
This Is the End (2013)
Film of the year so far!
As my review title suggests, I truly believe that is the best film of the year so far. This comedy gets the balance between jokes and plot absolutely perfect as throughout the movie we are constantly laughing and also wondering how they will get out of the apocalyptic wasteland that was once Los Angeles.
I would call this movie the Ultimate "Bromance" as the bond between Seth and Jay is the main storyline throughout the movie. At the start we see that Jay is visiting his old buddy Seth Rogen in Los Angeles and Seth wants him to meet all his new friends so he brings Jay to James Franco's house party. Here we see countless numbers of big name celebrities make cameos from Pop star Rihanna to How I met your mother's Jason Segel. We also see Michael Cera completely intoxicated and high as a kite acting laughably stupid which comes to a climax with his inevitable death due to a collapsing lamppost when he is quoted in saying "Is it that bad?" And "well that's embarrassing" as he finds his lost phone in his pocket as he bleeds out.
Later we find out that Jay had visited Los Angeles before without staying with Seth and he confesses that the two are growing apart. This causes a slight rift in their friendship but they have more important things to deal with as they run from a possessed Jonah Hill and Satan's demons.. Finally as Craig redeems himself to be lifted into heaven and James almost does until he flips off Danny, they are left staring down Satan himself when they make amends and decide to die together. Finally Jay begins to be lifted into heaven and tries to carry Seth who eventually lets go to allow Jay to make it. Of course and Seth starts to enter Satan's fiery mouth he is engulfed in a blue beam which lifts him into heaven with Jay all as Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" is playing to add extra emotion.
In conclusion, although I basically just retold the story. This movie is an absolutely fantastic piece of filmography and I would highly recommend it to absolutely anyone!
Deep Impact (1998)
One of my favourites!
This movie has it all: Suspense; Romance and incredibly is tear jerking. If this movie doesn't have you reaching for the tissues then I don't know what will. It is both sad and incredibly happy at the same time. To be a bit more informal: I would have to say it is incredibly cute at points.
Throughout the whole movie we are constantly kept engaged with each character and each sub-plot as we sit on the edge of our chairs, sofas or whatever it is you are sitting on. From a personal viewpoint the sub-story of Leo and Sarah's journey to be safe and together with their families and most importantly each other pulls on all the heart strings!
Anyway I would highly recommend this movie to any movie lover! It is incredibly underrated and I believe it to be worth at least 9 stars because it is a 10 star movie.
