Manhunt (2024)
Terrible
I'm not even through the first episode and it's a total mess. Manhunt was the first of Swansons books I read on the assassination. It was truly a great read and he really made you feel the hysteria of the moment and the hunt for booth was so well detailed. Just based on the first episode the casting is all wrong . Edward Stanton had such a distinct beard and for the actor to not have one makes. No sense. John Wilkes booth was extremely handsome and the actor portraying him isn't in the least. Isn't much to line here so far . Frankly I don't think I can get through much more . Swanson can't possibly as executive producer be happy this turkey.
Wasted Talent (2018)
Not Good filmmaking at All
The story of Lilo Brancato is well known to most people. The actors was most famous was his role as Robert Deniro's son in A Bronx Tale. His descent into drug abuse would ruin his career and lead to the death of a NYC police officer. He served over 8 years for Robbery but escaped the more serious charge of murder. His companion was the shooter and while he was a participant in the crime he wasn't charged. This doc directed by a former cop turned film maker and I use that term lightly is terrible. He has no sense of editing ,interviews are way too long. Some of the people you scratch your head trying to figure our what are they doing in this film. Brancato has been trying to restart his career , something I Believe is never going to happen . One of the people interviewed actually states maybe he'll win an academy award one day. Brancato has turned his life around since his release . He attends NA meetings, but he will never be able to live down this crime that led to the death of an off duty police officer. He definitely should have worked with a better group of people to tell his story. The film is amateurish at best. One repeated sequence with Brancato on a couch has some guy off to the right adjusting a camera while sitting on the floor it's all very strange. I'd love to know whet the director was trying to achieve with this. Its worth a look if your interested in the story of Brancato but be warned the film is terrible . Its only redeeming quality is the length which is only 66 minutes. I get a sense in interviews he has given that he doesn't feel responsible for the cops death. Facts are you go to your friends house who always supplied you with drugs. Unknown to you who had died months earlier. You break a window attempting to get in to the apt . The neighbor an off duty cop comes out confronts you both with his gun drawn is shot dead by your buddy and you don't think your responsible .You Certainly Are !!!!!
El cantante (2006)
pure garbage
I guess Jlo just couldn't help her self, perfect opportunity she must have thought, I'm sure her and Marc Anthony had themselves winning Oscars in their triumphant film. Who cares if the film is all lies with enough clichés to fill Madison square garden. Thankfully the public stood away from this disaster. Anyone who knows the Lavoe story laughed at this farce. Not only did she produce a totally dishonest film she single handedly ruined her husbands once flourishing career. Shame on her for exploiting probably the Greatest salsa singer of his generation. Jlo today is an actress with no career just observe the golden globes on Sunday giving out an award because Angelina Joli wasn't interested in doing it. Sean Combs has more credibility than her.
The Da Vinci Code (2006)
A Dull Experience, hugely Disappointing
I didn't read the novel on which this film is based on, but I was eagerly anticipating it's release. To Say I was disappointed is to say the least. Ultimately, you can dissect the film all you want. The fact of the matter is that it is a huge failure, Simply because it's a bore.
Director Ron Howard somehow manages to keep the film crawling at such a such a slow pace, that For the exception of a few scenes, There just isn't any excitement here at all. From the opening scenes I knew it. I can always tell from the first few minutes, and I was right on the mark with this one. It just plods along like a train going no where. Believe you me, where's there's smoke there's fire. The world wide critics aren't to far from the mark. I mean did they screen this thing ? Anyone who knows film in the least, would have told the filmmakers ( hey guys your film dosen't work ). Maybe some re editing would have done it some good . I doubt it. And to think, the subject matter is a filmmakers dream... What the hell happen ?????
Dan Brown must have watched this thing, and hoped another Director would have made this film. That's not to say, Howard isn't an accomplished filmmaker, because he certainly is, but he blew it big with this one. The most anticipated film in Years.
