China Cry: A True Story (1990)
Saw it again, Reminds me of how rare are our freedoms
Great movie and very scary if you look at what is happening in the United States with more and more people moving toward socialism. If you don't like capitalism, please see this movie and you may change your mind. It is probably one of the best Christian movies I have ever seen. You really empathize with this wonderful courageous woman. It is a tribute to all who have suffered religious persecution which is rampant in China to this day. It has a fast pace and is not too long but you can easily follow the story. Great acting, much better than many mainstream films I have seen. Even if you are not a Christian you will still be inspired by this story.
Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011)
The Future is Now
Ignore what the "Professional" Critics say about the movie, see and judge it for yourself. The production values for this movie were not as good as some movies that I have seen, but better by far that most of what passes for entertainment these days.
First the Good guys are not your typical hero types. They are wealthy businessmen and women, taking risks while struggling against hostile government forces and union bosses in an effort to bring better, more innovative products to market. I know this sounds boring, but it isn't. All of us dream of making it big and taking the risks to make it happen, but most of us never do. While watching this movie, you will find yourself hoping against hope that that those fearless people make it.
The book this movie is based on was written 53 years ago (the same year I was born). When my wife and I saw this movie, we were the youngest people in the theater. There was an eerie similarity to what was happening on the screen and what is happening in Washington right now. The recent flap concerning Boeing comes to mind. This movie reminds us of what our society will become if the achievers among us continue to be demonized in our culture.
Go see this movie and take your college kids, your teenagers and your brains with you.
