Tou tou cang bu zhu (2023)
A love story, told with simplicity and feelings.
What a lovely story, totally relatable and delivered with heart felt dialogues. The cast is great and so pleasing to the eye, especially the male lead, his glances speak volume. The background music, songs are just right. It is not a drama only for the fandom, but a genuine piece of work suitable for many. It took me back to my school age, there are similarities in events and feelings. The awkwardness, silent hopes and wishes, school work, study, fights and yet protection between siblings. Then comes the growing up, the process and responsibilities, I am half way through the drama and wish it would never end.
New Amsterdam (2018)
It brings me hope, it touches my heart
I am not so naive to think that all can be undone for the better as I saw in the episode, but the show brings me hope and touches my heart, the lines are told with great effect, they are not acting as doctors, they are the doctors, medical professionals with great humanity. I have not seen a medical tv series like this for a long time, it is most probably my first, and I look forward to it, Thank you.
The Joy Luck Club (1993)
It breaks and fills my heart throughout the film
One does not have to be Chinese or of Chinese origin to understand, appreciate the film. It simply touches you, no matter what your family background is, where you came from and what language you speak. It is a film of profound sentiments, sentiments between friends, between men and women, mother and daughter and yes, father and daughter, too.
I am only sorry that I was not aware of the release of the film and bumped into it by chance only now, 24 years later. Perhaps, I should think that these years have actually enabled me to appreciate it more than 24 years ago when it first came out.
Whoever reads the reviews and decides to look for the film should, I'd dare say, can consider himself/herself lucky, as it will make one feels deeper, live more intensely as all lives deserve.
Mr. Holmes (2015)
deeply touched
I consider it a love story told to touch the core of everyone who feels. A story gently told yet so strong and moving.
We are used to see a Sherlock Holmes in action, his brain always fast ticking to fight off villains, We did not get to see a Mr. Holmes filled with sentiments so deeply embedded in his inner self until now, in this film. Does old age tricker sentiments? Do we all get sentimental only when we are old? Or old age make us more human, more willing to share, to give?
I am thankful for the making of this film, it is brilliantly and refreshingly made to let us feel, to see Mr. Holmes whole.
