Remember Me (I) (2010)
7/10
Respectable film...but could've been much better
21 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, i want to leave very clear the fact that this is indeed a must see movie...the thing is i'm not sure if it's necessary to watch it more than once. STILL! I could never say this is the kind of "i wouldn't watch it twice" type of film, cause every now and then i caught it on TV and it's impossible for me to switch channels.

OK, so let's begin then. I'll try not to spoil much anyway.

Ally (played by a not very moving Emilie De Ravin) goes through a very traumatic moment when her mother is murdered before her very eyes, living her alone with father (then again, a not very original performance by Chris Cooper)Neil Craig, a tough police Sargent.

On the other hand, we have Tyler Hawkins (a very disappointing Robert Pattinson, for most of the movie) another troubled young man, who still suffers from his beloved brother Michael's suicide when being his age. Tyler also has a little sister, Caroline (the child star revelation of the movie, Ruby Jerins) who has a terrible time at school with classmates and has a great early talent for art. Then we have their father, Charles (played by an okay Pierce Brosnan) a lawyer who doesn't pay much attention to his kids, and has a terrible relationship with Tyler. Tyler and Caroline's mom, Diane and Charles are divorced, and she's already re-married to this guy, Les. Also, in Tyler's life there's his best friend and roommate, Aidan(another less than significant performance by Tate Ellington).

Under this circumstances, and after a tense situation between Tyler and Sgt. Neil, Aidan finds out that the police cop's daughter goes to the same college they do, so he persuades Tyler to ask her out.

That's when the "unexpected" happens. They fall in love. And as Romeo and Juliet, they have to fight for it.

Now may i say just one thing? I wanna clear up the hole "Robert Pattinson's disappointing performance" before fans start cursing me. I consider myself quite an R-Pattz fan, but there are times when you think his either playing himself, or just some sort of mortal Edward Cullen spin off. His faces are LITERALLY underwear Vogue model at some frames. And i would know! I'm an acting student as well. Of course that's not all the time. There are scenes where he brings up a lot to his performance; there's this two favorite scenes of mine in the film: the fight at his father's office when he takes the drawing her sister made for him, and the moment when he goes pick her up to school and they're just walking home and talking. It's so simple, but it works! (They didn't have to try so hard to make every single scene be soo tragic and dramatic, sometimes less is more).

The end of the film it's pretty nerve racking. Whoever's watching it can either love it or hate it, but i can make you sure, it is very unlikely for you to not feel a very intense catharsis towards it.

To sum up: Robert is not all bad, Ruby is almost flawless, and the rest of the cast are not so "rememberable". But not a film you'll regret watching, or watching again.

How I Met Your Mother (2005–2014)
10/10
The new version of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.!
19 April 2011
This TV show excels more than any other sitcom nowadays! It's a high quality comedy, more than very well known shows (such as Glee or The Big Bang Theory, also among my favorites) with many very ingenious situations that go through every episodes.

The Story begins in 2030, when Ted Mosby (or a voice-off version of him, that narrates during the hole episode, played by Bob Saget) starts telling his kids the story of how he met their mother. Now don't you worry, i'm not actually spoiling any details, except that this takes us back to 2005 where Ted's story begins. Since then we meet the young Ted (played by a very endearing and charming Josh Radnor) a hopeless romantic architect, who suddenly decides he wants to find the perfect woman to settle down with. That's when we meet Marshall Eriksen (played by the always hilarious Jason Seigel) a very nice, small-town guy, who's finishing his law career in college; and his long time girlfriend, Lily Aldrin (played by the cute ginger Alyson Hannigan, one of America's sweetheart) a smiley kinder garden teacher. This couple is just perfect! Later comes along Robin Scherbatsky (played by the very sarcastic-humorized Cobie Smulders) the cynical Canadian news reporter, who crushes the group and fits right in. Oh! and let's never forget about the...what's the word to describe this man? Oh yes..AWESOME! Barney Stinson (played by the extremely talented Neil Patrick Harris in what's gonna be remembered as one of his biggest lifetime roles, which already gave him several nominations to the Emmy) as the ladies man of the group, who has already reached everyone who watches this show's heart! With this amazing group, and a never ending story of how this Ted guy met his kids mother (a story that keeps as all fans to the edge of our sits every Monday night, by the way) we witness the most incredible, original, crazy and hilarious adventures they go through, along with laughter, tears and emotions that the world has only felt for only one other show before: the very F.R.I.E.N.D.S. (1994-2004), nothing less than the most beloved (and already, a cult) TV sitcom ever in history.

Careful! it's gonna be legen...wait for it...

Cougar Town (2009–2015)
8/10
Courtney Cox, one of the most powerful actress in the history of television
7 March 2010
I gotta say this show really surprised me...I'm not saying i didn't thought it'll be good, i just didn't expect it to be this good! This is a funny, sweet and kinda smart TV show about Jules, a woman who hits a wall when she turns 40, cause she realizes she's never done anything "crazy" during her youth, and it shows how much she regrets that. Of course, she's willing to do something about it, and with the help of her friend Laurie (played by an always endearing, Busy Phillips) and her old-time friend, Ellie (Christa Miller plays this funny woman character)she will start partying, drinking, among other things, to rediscover herself. Some other characters appear in the show (and make it so good too) such as Bobby (Jules's goofy ex husband, played by Brian Van Holt), Travis (Jules's son, played by young comedian Dan Byrd), Andy (Ellie's husband, played by clowny Ian Gomez), the exotic Barb (Carolyn Hennesy, a character that appears when less expected) and Grayson (Jules's "in front of" neighbor, very nice played by Josh Hopkins). But of course, all cast aside, i want to do a review that goes particularly dedicated to Courtney Cox Arquette: the actress that (in my opinion) gives us some of the most powerful performances of television. First, she gave us the obsessive organized Monica Geller, who was quite underestimated by the people in charge of the Emmys and the Golden Globes. But that was probably cause there were six very strong characters on that sitcom. Then, she gave us the polemical and unbreakable Lucy Spiller, who was also kinda underestimated, this time by the audience, given that the show got canceled. Let's not forget about her Scrubs's Taylor Maddox, and now she comes up with a very funny (and endearingly silly, if you will) Jules Cobbs, in Cougar Town. Well, what's left to say? Courtney Cox = TV queen!!

Fantastic story, flawless film
12 February 2010
We don't always have the chance to appreciate great films, at least not from actual times. But this should be considered at least a jewel of the latest motion picture history.

This is a near-perfect kind of film that shows the difference between some men who are used to work as a team and other man who rather play hero on such a dangerous situation as war itself. It also says a lot about war becoming an addiction for someone, and how that can turn into the most important thing in someone's life.

I don't think these are words enough to describe how great this film is. Kathryn Bigelow, in my opinion, deserves the Oscar due to a wonderful development of her job as film director and, i probably think this should also be the best film winner too(i have no problem with Avatar or James Cameron, i do think they deserve the best special effects academy award, among others...).

Jeremy Renner is another pretty amazing discovery, i can't make up my mind between him or Colin Firth(A single man)on who should win the best actor academy award.

Valentine's Day (I) (2010)
7/10
Nice cute film, with some pretty surprising endings
12 February 2010
This is one of those films where a big bunch of actors and actresses get together and make this pretty wonderful film about a lot of stories (in this case, love stories) that, somehow, get laced showing us a one story plot (such as Love Actually and He's Just Not That Into You). In the case of this film, this dynamic becomes more complex given that all of these stories must get laced during just one day: Valentine's day. The actors (or, at least, most of them) give lovely (yet not amazing) performances, especially Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, Eric Dane and Anne Hathaway who played characters they are not so used to play... On what comes to the younger cast, i gotta say Bryce Robinson is the most memorable one, but the teen cast? Emma Roberts and Carter Jenkins were fine, and i'd probably have to say the same about the Taylors (no need to "last name" them)but the lines were really cheesy and dumb, and i would love to believe that's only due to their characters and not due to self stupidity, cause i'm 17 years old and i bet you i've never talked like that, folks. Now putting that aside (and the fact that some things are quite predictable on everyone of this films)I feel myself almost obligated to point out that some of the endings of this laced stories were quite moving because of being so unexpected and unimaginable, and that, i believe, had given a total new meaning to this movie. Very good job, Gary Marshall. Man, i don't know how you managed such a big cast in such a short story time.

Freaks (1932)

A simply mind-blowing masterpiece!!
16 December 2009
This film is obviously one of the many you should see before you die, but certainly one of the most important ones. It's short, simple, and amazing!! I gotta say it just blew my mind in a way not many other films have, and it touched my heart in a way no other film have. I mean, it didn't only make me cry a few times while watching it, but it also did something bigger in me: it totally changed my vision over the world, something that didn't happen to me since i've seen "American Beauty" for the very first time. I also gotta give my "two thumbs up" grade to both great actors (who were also brother and sister, apparently) Harry and Daisy Earles, two endearing characters of the film. Also my biggest congrats to all of the rest of the cast, specially the lovely "freaks" that, while watching this film, i could only think of how much i would have loved to give them my support and love like nobody else had...

Fringe (2008–2013)
9/10
A very entertaining Sci-Fi TV show
25 November 2009
I gotta say I didn't had too much hopes for this show on it's first two episodes, but while watching it every since until now, i can honestly say how mistaken i was. The second season particularly is very amusing and it caught me after every episode. You could say this is somehow the "X Files" young sister. Not to mention the special effects are really great and convincing (something sometimes really hard to find in a TV show). On what comes to the performances, Anna Torv could do a little better as the FBI Agent Oliva Dunham, but i believe her performance has even become more convincing during this second season as well. Joshua Jackson really surprised me with his smart yet stubborn Peter Bishop, when i realized "hey, this guy can truly act" i mean i was afraid it was gonna be some sort of older Pacey Witter (the role his always known for, from his previous TV show hit "Dawson's Creek") and i must say he proved me wrong, cause this role is nothing like it and, as an actress myself, i was really shocked by the way he putted the Pacey alter-ego aside to play this other role. On what comes to Walter Bishop and Agent Astrid Farsworth, i must say just how much i love them. They're this magnificent endearing duet, which is hard to find on Sci-Fi/drama TV series. John Noble is already known as a very versatile actor and i love the way he imagined this character was supposed to be and then again, they way he plays it. Jasika Nicole is, or at least her character, somebody i could be friends with that is, at the same time smart, and fits great on the Fringe Division team. I still have my doubts about characters like Nina Sharp and Agent Broyles, but still are part of an amazing cast.
