I've seen better, I've seen worse.
9 August 2004
I went into this movie not expecting much at all. After all, I hadn't seen it advertised anywhere, and it certainly wasn't in the theaters. But I really enjoyed the first SST, even though it wasn't a /spectacular/ Sci-Fi movie. I got this from BlockBuster (where I work, so it was conveniently free) and really just wanted gore. And gore I got! A good number of heads being ripped open/blown open/etc. Too many bugs to count that get killed. They don't bother getting you attached to any of the characters, really, so it's just funny when they die.

I probably wouldn't watch it again, but I don't feel I've completely wasted an hour and a half of my life (even though it was kind of like watching Aliens again). Like the subject states: I've seen better, I've seen worse.

Oh come now, lighten up.

Albeit confusing at times, this movie is definitely worth a watch. The directing/editting is certainly reminiscent of _Perfect Blue (1997/I)_ (or more likely the other way around, with Perfect Blue being released a full decade after Return to Horror High). Either way, you just have to be really one your toes to make sense of the stories, or be prepared to watch it a few times. The jokes fly out more than the fake blood does. Often, they come together. If you can't appreciate this movie for what it is, you just need to pop a couple of valium pills, and calm down. They way you people write about this film would make one think that Ed Wood decided to make a horror-comedy about Waylon Jennings cooking up some raw fetuses.

This movie kicks twice as much butt when you get it on the double-sided DVD with _Return of the Killer Tomatoes! (1988)_

Heh.

Well, not a great movie. Not even a good one. It could possibly be described as decent.

Then again, not my type of movie whatsoever, so I could be quite biased. I'm also not a young teen/child/whatever age group that Disney aims at these days.

Disney movies are usually silly movies that you can sit back and enjoy, without straining your brain at all. No brain-strain here, but also no enjoyability. I may have smiled once during the movie, but, other than that, no high points. No laughing, no grinning.. it just really didn't entertain me at all. Weak jokes, even weaker plot, but hey - One good thing can be said about it. It teaches children that sexism is wrong, or at least (I believe) tries to. I'm not sure how many children would get that out of the movie, but it was definitely there.

Kids'll probably enjoy it, from what I've heard, and it has a good message in there for 'em, too, so no harm is done by this movie. Being a 'decent' movie, it got a 5/10, somewhere in the middle, but the 'good message' aspect of it boosted it up to 6/10.

Maniac (1934)
Excellent.. Simply excellent..

Ah, yet another terrific movie getting bad reviews because it is not the typical movie. It's an exploitation film, so review it on an exploitation scale! It's thoroughly entertaining, and some parts are even strange to this day. How many times do you see stuff like what happens to "Satan," the cat, or whatever his name is? It just doesn't happen often!

As far as an exploitation film, it's not as good as, say, Cannibal Holocaust, but it's not as bad as an exploitation-wannabe like Glen or Glenda.

A must see for anyone that can appreciate a movie, plain and simple. I bought it last night, and I've already watched it a few times, just because it is so delightful.

Wonderful!

This movie is an absolutely delightful trip down to Absurdity Lane. Though, I'm not sure if people who are unimpressed by Edward D. Wood Jr's *unique* style would appreciate it as much, it is still worth checking out. Go into this movie with an open mind and a huge sense of humor, and it's well worth it. Ed Wood wasn't a bad director, he was just misunderstood, and continues to be to this day. Oh well, check it out with an open mind, and you should be all set.

Um.. What??

This show is.. EXTREMELY.. random. But I love random, so it's entertaining. If you're looking for something that is purely entertaining fluff, check this out. I sure wasn't disappointed. Just go into it with an open mind, and don't expect much - You'll be more than likely amused.

Only thing disappointing about it is that it's on the ABC Family channel - It could be a lot more daring if it wasn't. Though, if it had been picked up by a different, less family-oriented network, it could have also gone down the route of idiotic fluff, such as _Jackass_.

Dog Soldiers (2002)

Restored my faith in horror movies.
25 December 2002
Let's face it: Horror movies have been on a long slide downwards. All of the 90's "slasher" films were boring, repetitive, and totally unimaginative. Dog Soldiers threw all that garbage away. Werewolf movies are few and far between, and this really makes them something special. See this movie, even if you are American, and can't understand it all the time; there's plenty of gore to entertain you.

Oh yeah, and big surprise that it didn't come from Hollywood...
