The End of the F***ing World (2017)
Was glued to my seat to the end...
Its an amazing piece of work. Stop wasting your time reading reviews and just watch the bloody thing!
iBoy (2017)
Please start marking iBoy 2...
3 ,4 , 5, 6 and 7.
This was sooooooo good.
It goes to show that you dont need millions of dollars to make an epic superhero movie. You just need a solid story and the right team all believing the vision.
I wont be going into a long explanation as to why you should watch it. Just stop wasting your time reading this review and go watch it NOW!
:-)
Always Be My Maybe (2019)
Oh my gosh, what an amazing experience...
This is a brilliant movie. It has great and believeable chemistry from all the actors, especially the leads. It is funny as hell, witty and blew me away with its universal charm. Most importantly it felt real. It felt like I was watching real friends and real situations develop before my eyes. It's the total package! I'm putting this gem right up there with some of the classic romantic comedies (not calling any names) from a time when 'Hollywood' had the magic formula and spent extra time trying to get the right team to collaborate and create magic for the viewers. I so miss those days :-) Do yourself a favour and watch this with someone you love!
The Passage (2019)
This is a winner out the gates!
So what if it does not follow the books...let it go and enjoy the raw talent that you are witnessing in Saniyya...the child is brilliant in her role as Amy. Mark-Paul (Brad) is also great. We immediately understand his reasons and motivations and the father daughter bound is believable....that is no easy task to pull off. Especially in only one episode. Amazing casting on this project for the lead actors. It feels fresh and different. Cant wait to see more.
Polar (2019)
What a mess of a movie
Do yourself a favour and avoid this one, UNLESS, you are a fan of Mads Mikkelsen. That was the only reason I watched it to the end and the only reason it got a 3 rating from me. There are a lot of movie references (John Wick, Jesse Stone, Sin City) layered over a laughable group of half-dimensional characters. I was scratching my head after a few minutes-in and had to ask myself if this was a comedy trying to be a triller trying to be an action-drama.
The cinematography was really good and it had some well put together costume designs. But overall...bad acting, bad casting, bad editing...good lord the editing was vomit. smh!
Sorry, guys I'm sure everyone may have worked their tails off to bring this to the table...but, I will have to say no to this dish.
The Punisher: Roadhouse Blues (2019)
Frank & Beth had more CHEMISTRY than a Meth Lab!
Marvel Execs...It's time to make a big screen version of The Punisher. Have Jon Bernthal as Frank and give Alexa Davalos (Beth) a role as Frank's love interest. She was spot on with this character. I haven't seen such a believable and magical on screen (TV or otherwise) collaboration in a very long time and in my book it tops all the other Marvel Universe romantic pair-ups I have seen. The chemistry was simply amazing...and the funny thing is they achieved this in mere minutes of the first act...it was beautiful to watch. I was reminded of scenes in earlier Punisher comic books...were there was a calm before the storm...moments when we got to see (hear) Frank as a man filled with compassion, driven by love and truth and ready to break 'many' bones and skulls to defend those virtues. Fight scenes and car chase aside this was an award winning episode IMHO.
Well done and congrats to all the cast and crew.
I'm off now to continue my binge ;-)
The Details (2011)
What a weird little movie!
I'm happy to see that there are still some creative thinkers left in Hollywood.
'The Details' is funny, sad, inspirational and scary. Its an emotional ride into a normal day of a young couple that turns absurdly bizarre in a heart beat. I'm talking bat-sh*t crazy kinda stuff! You just cant believe the twists and turns that come your way...yet it all feels so believable.
Trust me when I say you have never seen anything like this.
A great cast, excellent direction and original writing makes this a movie you will pretty much never forget.
About Time (2013)
Timeless | Life Changing | Magical
I'll be short...
A timeless, paranoid love story that grabs at the emotions, negates the intellect, and reduces everything to absolutes.'About Time' is simply brilliant.
The story can easily encourage you to change your life, it presents a magical journey of love, life and family connections that takes your breath away.
Everyone who worked on this movie...including the pizza guy, coffee guy...the person who photo-copied the freaking script should be proud to have been involved in something so special.
See this MOVIE now!
Hummingbird (2013)
Magical, a true gem!
Ever so often a movie comes out that reminds me what it feels like to be in LOVE...In love with movies, acting, music...life! When everything comes together to make something 'magical' the 'genre' becomes insignificant and you just enjoy the experience. When the dust settles, Redemption will be remembered as a cult classic...a new age cult classic.
Yeah, it was that good for me. Hands down the best performance from one of the coolest guys in Hollywood right now. Jason nailed it without try to be something different. You are bad-ass as an action guy...and now you have proved to me that you can also crack skulls in the serious stuff. Hell, this was better for me than watching Brad in his Z movie...and we all know Brad is an A-class actor.
Hats off to the leading lady Agata Buzek...you where wonderful and you left me wanting more...so I'll spend my weekend watching your other movies to fill that emptiness. I predict u going to be a HUGE movie star someday :)
Love in the Time of Cholera (2007)
A beautiful story that all should see
I did not read the book and I don't think it should matter, it is never possible for a movie to be as good as a novel. I could list many things that I think could have been done better and maybe should have been, but that would be pointless (life is never perfect)what may appear to be faults turn out making the whole even better.
This is a must see movie and by extension a must read book. The love story, images, colours, textures and message all come together so beautifully and will stay with you for a very long time.
Congrats to the cast and crew for their hard work and also for bringing a beautiful story into my heart.
