Star Trek: The Next Generation: New Ground (1992)
Crystalline entity anyone?
Didn't the Crystalline Entity fly at Warp speed? I know Dr Whatsherface destroyed it, but wouldn't it have been worthy of study? How would it have reacted if fired at a Borg cube? It didn't seem to have a warp drive or nacelles yet it would have needed warp speeds to get to planets to consume them. Another instance of STNG forgetting its own past.
So again what would happen if we fired a soliton wave at a Borg cube, after all the Birg are coming aren't they?
Poor Worf Alexander's existence sprung on him again. Not a great episode. But it does seem extra stupid to fire a soliton wave at a planet, why not just let it continue into the eternity of space? Lovely teacher though. Ms Kyle (Jennifer Edwards) Such a pity we don't see her again.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Too Short a Season (1988)
Weird
Mrs Admiral must be the only female in history who wouldn't rip a youth potion from her husband's hands, and drink it herself. Whatever the consequences.
Mad admiral gives advanced weapons, to dodgy leader and falsified the records. Did none of his crew notice? Do Starfleet officers hold a personal loyalty to their Captain, or to Starfleet?
Did no one in Starfleet bureaucracy notice a ship returning sans a load of lethal weapons? What was his excuse? "I put them down for a moment on some planet, can't remember which one, and forgot them?"
Oh dear, oh dear, perhaps Starfleet should have a retire the ancient admiral's program.
Star Trek: The Paradise Syndrome (1968)
Amazing discovery
Let me get this straight, the Enterprise finds an Earth like planet, with a small building than can deflect an asteroid. So wouldn't Federation technicians be crawling all over it, wearing local Indian costumes if necessary. The mighty Enterprise was unable to stop the asteroid but this thing effortlessly pushes it away when it is much closer to the planet. The asteroid is the size of our moon. The energy involved must be enormous, stored for centuries but available for instantaneous use, so the batteries alone might be of interest. The local tribe have lost the knowledge of how to 'operate it' so the Federation needs to automate it. What if it could be replicated and fitted into a Starship?
