Baywatch: River of No Return: Part 1 (1992)
Cracking
Interesting story line and love the way Baywatch can just bring in imaginary friendships at the drop of a hat - Mitch and CJ.
The opening scenes are immense. Rafting (facial close up) and subsequent sax playing (which by the way - I'm now on season 5 and not seen CJ pick up this instrument since - she clearly took with her enough to end up at a river bed playing it so why have we not had a beach scene?).
Baywatch: Homecoming (1995)
CV action
Is there nothing Mitch can't do? Simply put - no.
Mitch disarms a plastique explosive just in the nick of time.
He also provides some top class banter when Garner plans to date a much younger woman.
On a side note - the luxury of Riley's beard has increased ten fold.
Baywatch: I Spike (1994)
Tease
Garner goes to show off his singing abilities at a blues bar and chokes on stage.
A number of things happen - hover craft, homoerotic volleyballs arguments, Mitch tries to get the girl (she's the one - as always), more volleyball, an underwater spearing....
Then finally - Garner gets back up to sing and right at the end of the episode, they leave us hanging and we never hear if he does it or not! Unbelievably frustrating end Baywatch. Tut tut only 8 stars.
Baywatch: Livin' on the Fault Line: Part 2 (1994)
Driveorama
So many good dives. Also, Jackie... where she at?
Aussie life guard can do one.
Baywatch: Aftershock (1994)
Hilarious to the end
Important facts - when the mine "explodes" actually the boat goes up but the mine remain intact.
Mitch and Gale marriage, Mitch has dirty fingernails. Oh Mitch.
Newmie is by far the best diver, consistent.
Gale makes a point of saying how important family is yet ditched Mitch and Hobes at the first sign of drama... in sickness and in health my arse.
Gale is actually a bit snarky is what this episode entails. Selfish cow.
Baywatch: Tentacles: Part 1 (1993)
Mitch #surgeon
Just incredible - Mitch has the CV the size of a small novel
Baywatch: The Lost Treasure of Tower 12 (1992)
Hmm....
Really really annoying scene where Shaunie's never seen before good pal Ian attempts to woo her under tower 12, resulting in dream sequence of late 40s early 50s musical cinema dance scene. Wtf Baywatch, not cool, still to water related crisis and random crime solving.
Ok I suppose there was a little crime solving in here with some baddie jewellery thieves being caught but it was basically about a little love triangle with a sardine eating arty boy.
Baywatch: The Chamber (1992)
The start of montage city
The First of many many many episodes with one or ten too many flashbacks or montages.
After Hobe tells Mitch he misses his Mum, Mitch takes this as the ultimate rejection and in a moment of emotional heroism, deep dives 90ft to save someone with no regard for his own life resulting in him almost dying from the Benz.
Baywatch: Now Sit Right Back and You'll Hear a Tale (1992)
Worst yet
As I've been rewatching the series, this is the worst episode I've seen so far. To the point that I skipped the last 15 minutes.
Brings "it was all a dream" into the worst ever category of all Baywatch time
Baywatch: War of Nerves (1992)
Music department win
Best bits:
Opening scene was great, a good montage with a great chill track sees Mitch and Hobe walk the beach for fun times.
Hilarious shot with just the head of Japanese drug boss loitering by the rocks too, laughs had by all.
Another hilarious moment was in the restaurant where Mitch and fam are stalked by said Japanese man, Mitch (rattled by altercation with drug lord at the bar) asks GF and Hobe if the food has arrived - it clearly hasn't as there is nothing on the table...
The old school life guard "wooden surf board throwback scene" in particular worked. It was set up with a full five second zoom into one of the characters faces. I would go as far as saying the best montage of the show to date. The track made by the music department was exceptional, I would download on Spotify if it wasn't stock music.
Horror scene moment - Mitch's Bae, hyper aware when left alone with Hobe, cuts apple and adds cubed cheese from a bag to a plate while noticed every little wind whisper and fire crackle. Subsequently predictable moment while she looks away as turning a corner and clever positioned camera results in shock reveal of drug lord in hostage takeover moment.
Excellent tops off fight scene. Mitch takes the samurai triple roundhouser into the water where he has the advantage while Garner "rescues" and holds gun awkwardly.
Is there nothing Mitch Buchannon can't do?
Just a note - never find out if Shaunie learns to surf.
