Warning: Parental Advisory (2002)
Point of this Wonderful movie will be Lost on most
This was a great movie about censor ship and generation gaps. Unfortunately I think the point of this movie will be lost on most people. Those Senate hearings happened in 1985, that is close to 20 years ago now. Basically a full generation has passed. But it doesn't matter, there will still be people that will complain about todays music and movies and how everything is corrupting the children. Back in the 80's it was Prince, Twisted Sister, Cyndi Lauper, 2 Live Crew, and NWA. Today it's Eminem, DMX, Christina Aguilera, Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails.
Every generation laughs at the pop culture of the previous generation, and every generation despises the pop culture of the next. Back in the 80's people accused kids of hanging out at the mall, wasting time infront of video games and school violence. It's the same thing today. Things never change. People just get older and more mature, but generations don't change.
Again, I bet the message of this fantastic film will be lost on most. To quote The Simpsons, there are too many people running around with the---"What about the children!? Has anyone thought how this will effect the children!? My God what about the children!!!!?" Thinking about the children is fine, but this fantastic movie shows the hyporicsy of certain "moralistic grown ups". The Silent Generation despised the Elvis and Beatles music of the Baby Boomers. And the Baby Boomers like Al and Tipper Gore hated the Generation Xers. Now those Gen X kids from 1985 condem the pop music of Gen Y.
Knight Rider (1982)
Stupid 80's car show
Avoid this. It's just a waste of time and airspace starring a pre-"Baywatch" David Hasselhoff and his talking car. Hasselhoff is Michael Knight and his car is KITT. Every episode is the same nonsense about some crooked businessman or corrupt sheriff ruining an honest small town of do-gooders while Michael/KITT comes to save the day with a their model car stunts. Why was every single sheriff they came across either a bad guy or someone that gave them a hard time? And why is David Hasselhoff always trying to pull some kind of karate in every role he does? Does the guy even know any karate? Devon always calls when Michael is on vacation and KITT never thinks he can make a jump, but of course he can. There was also at least two episodes featuring Michael defeating bad guys in a helicopter by leaping onto the chopper from an already moving KITT and then just reaching in and tossing the bad guys out of the chopper with one hand! Super Pursuit Mode seemed awfully redundant, since KITT seemed to have no speed limit while in "regular pursuit" mode. The car should have flipped over making those sharp turns while going 300 mph. And what kind of idiot drives 300 mph through a residential neighborhood? KITT would have also ruined his shocks after every jump, and don't give me any of that "molecular bonded shell" stuff. There was actually one episode where Michael and KITT turbo boosted onto the 18th floor of an apartment high rise. It was never explained why the 2 ton car didn't go crashing down through the apartment, or how KITT eventually got out of there. Stephen Hawking ain't watching this show I'll tell you that.
Saved by the Bell (1989)
This show was really Mental
I've never understood the appeal of "Saved by the Bell". It always seemed to be a really cheesy early '90s teen show to me.
Let's face it, everything about this show was retarded, from the cast, to the poor scripts, to the direction, it was all the most inane piece of garbage I have ever seen. Yet despite all this, I know there are millions of people out there from the ages of 13 to 29, (and even older I bet) that always talk about growing up with this dumb show and are just in love with it. I can't explain it, I honestly have no explanation for it. Just look at how retarded this show was. Apparently the kids had about 4 hours in between classes to just stand around and talk about dumb stuff. This was supposed to be a high school show, but these kids did everything in the world but go to class. The kids hardly ever went to class!! Hello? Weren't they in a school? And on the rare occasions they did go to class, it was just more stupidity on top of more stupidity.
And what about some of these characters? Like Screech. I'm sorry but this guy was never funny at all, and the fact that they had to put in a laugh track to remind you to laugh at his dumb ways further proves that. I know he was supposed to be the loveable nerd, but instead he comes across as some idiot that's always screwing up. At least that Urkel kid from "Family Matters" was interesting and funny some of the time. Screech was never funny, he was just a long necked all around weirdo. The rest of the characters, like Zack and Slater were stereotypical teenage crazies.
I don't recommend this show at all, I've tried watching it, but I can never get into it. Though I know this show will always have it's fans. Whatever.
Clueless (1995)
Old and Corny '90s teen film
This movie is soooo 1995/1996 it hurts. It's so old and corny it's nauseating. I guess some of the older people here that were teens back in the 1990s, like old school '90s teen movies like this. But I think this film is incredibly outdated and stupid. The fashions are old, the music is old, everything about this movie is so freaking old.
Look at the size of those cell phones the girls carry!! They're beastly! So big and ugly. They act like it's a big deal that they have cell phones, I guess back in the '90s it was a new and incredible technology. It's so corny watching that in todays modern times.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
TERRIBLE FILM!!! Nerds are now in the know and cool for a while
WTF kind of film is this? I hear so many people talk and talk of this movie, so I felt I should see it to find out what all the fuss was about. After all, I even got recommendations from people who did not read the book. Since I did not read the book, I figured the movie must have something for people like me since so many who didn't read it loved it. While watching this movie I realized something, THEY LIED. No sane human being who didn't read the book can honestly say this is a good movie. This is a boring, drawn out piece of trash.
What's happening with LOTR is this---it has become COOL. Yes cool. For the moment anyway. Just like with all nerdy obsessions, like Star Wars, Transformers, Indiana Jones, whatever....when they become cool all of a sudden the nerds that love them seem to be "in the know" about something hip and chic. So it's hip and chic to say you get it and you love it too, even when you think it's the dumbest thing you ever saw. That's whats happening with LOTR and it's nerdball fans. Well I don't need to look cool, I already am, and I say this film is TERRIBLE.
It's so freaking boring, I fell asleep half way through. I only woke up again when whoever was killed by those blue demons. Not a single character was developed, not a single character is introduced. Nothing whatsoever is shown to us the audience. What the hell is going on in this movie? The writing is terrible, and the acting is bland. The directing is pretty good I admit, and the visual SFX are impressive. That's about the only good points of LOTR. This film is only for die hard fans of the book and people who want to look hip and chic for 15 seconds.
