mixed feelings about this
3 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This film does a good job of showing the stark reality that so many face but doesn't offer up much of a solution. I really felt for the woman in Philly with her two children because she was stuck in this 'in-between' place that so many people find themselves in. She ends up taking a job and losing any assistance she was getting, to end up in a worse position than she was before. This is the horrible paradox that so many families get stuck in. It only served to reinforce my opinion that welfare programs reward those who do absolutely nothing and hurt those who are actually trying to get ahead. As for the other families in the film who talk about not being able to afford veggies, grow a freaking garden and learn to can and freeze veggies! I wished so badly I could reach into this film and show some of these people what to buy with their food budget. I just have a really hard time feeling sorry for overweight people that claim they are hungry. Also, the film states at one point that a family of three can make 24k per year and qualify for food stamps. Later in the film you hear from a single mother with a paycheck of 120.00 every two weeks, who claims she was denied food stamps? This film just left me feeling kind of angry when it was finished.

Honestly don't know if I loved it or hated it..
13 May 2012
This is one of those movies that (for me) was pretty painful to watch because it was so dreadfully boring during the first half. I stuck it out because I knew the second half would be better and in retrospect, I believe the first half needed to be done the way it did - you start to actually feel what Justine feels after watching the boring and pointless characters in the first half for close to an hour.

I do not think this film should be watched by those who already suffer from depression, it will probably only make you feel more hopeless and feed into your already existing depression. However, this is a good film for those of you who don't much think about the meaning of life and who live in a busy, hectic, materialistic world. The only problem, the way the film is presented probably won't attract the people who really should watch it.

I don't know why all the hate
24 September 2011
I think people just love to bag on Smith for some reason, but I applaud him for making this. I watched this the other night, and was totally impressed. It was a fun film, total bad ass gun fight (one of the best I have seen in a film for some time). I loved how unpredictable this was, nothing turned out the way I would have guessed. To the people who are complaining about the long sermon, I feel that was needed to portray just how nuts the thinking was with the congregation. This film shows that you can make a really fun action flick with a limited budget and I really hope Smith starts going in this direction with some of his future films. I really enjoyed it.

I was surprised
25 November 2008
Sometimes I think i'll never see anything fresh and new because it's all been done before, and then I watched this. I was flipping through some on demand channels and watched the preview, had to order it. After the movie was done, I found myself thinking about it for days and wanting to see it again so I could look for clues that I might have missed, that's the sign of a good movie in my opinion. I find it hard to believe so few people have seen this little gem, as I had a hard time even finding reviews for it. Oh.. and that guy from Hero's, Adrian Pasdar, fantastic in this! I never cared for the guy when watching Hero's but in this movie he showed he really has some acting skills, I lost myself in his acting he was THAT good.

rip deedee
10 March 2008
Some people who have done reviews of this are mistaken, this footage was shot in 92', almost 10 years before DeeDee's death. Lech Kowalski filmed this interview while making his Thunders movie (a rare gem to find on bootleg) so most of the interview revolves around Thunders.. no surprise since it was for a Thunders movie. It's no secret that rock stars have more appeal to the public after their death, sadly.. so that would have been a perfect time to release this footage. In my opinion, this is great addition to my collection of Ramones footage, interviews, etc.. I'm a die hard Thunders and Ramones fan, so I really enjoyed this. (Even though most of what DeeDee talks about, you can read in Please Kill Me) It's got a nice little clip of the Heartbreakers doing Chinese Rocks, another rare find. I think I paid 10 bucks for this, and it was totally worth it. Now if I can just get my hands on all that Thunders footage *rubs hands together*

great film if you're a ramones fan!
10 March 2008
I seriously love this film so much, I never get sick of watching it. The only line I really can't stomach in this is when Riff calls herself a teenage lobotomy but other than that, everything else is perfect. I've never been a fan of PJ Soles and it didn't help to hear that she didn't even know who the Ramones were until she filmed this movie, but I can ignore her snarly little face for the most part. Most people who watch this over and over are fans of the Ramones and really.. that's the only reason I love it so much. I never get tired of seeing DeeDee mess up his Pizza lines or Joey mess up the name of the teacher over and over, haha. One of the best parts of the film is seeing them sing do you want to dance , down the halls of the high school.. I love it. The special edition DVD has a good retrospective, surprisingly PJ Soles isn't on it. Maybe she was working on another project *laugh* Anyway, great film, even better if you're a Ramones fan.

enjoyed it
26 October 2007
This movie is great, for what it is. Any hardcore horror or cult movie fan will probably really like this film, as it is sort of a throwback to the old school slasher. For any horror film to do really really well, it has to be mind blowing and even then, net nerds are going to pick it apart until their is nothing left, hence.. the bad reviews are expected. The whole killer scenario, the mask.. the message, it's all so ridicules that it's not meant to be taken seriously (in my opinion) That's what makes this so great. As far as the killings go, I thought they were pretty great compared to most of what i'm seeing these days. Since i'm such a huge fan of the genre, I would love to see more large budget films like this make their way to the theater or even DVD. The bottom line is, if you're a huge fan of the horror genre then you're going to want to see this. If you're just looking to get "scared" and watch horror occasionally, this probably isn't for you.

best vampire movie i've seen in awhile
20 October 2007
I went in with low expectations, and this film really surprised me. It's probably one of the best vampire films I've seen in a very long time. I don't want to say too much for those who have yet to see it, but these vampires in the film were unlike any I've seen before. I've read some reviews where people were unimpressed with Josh Hartnett and I don't typically care for him but I thought he did a fine job in this film. I was looking for him to screw it up and I was really impressed with his performance, thought he did a great job. One of the things I love about this film is that it fails to explain a lot of things, I know some people dislike that but I feel that too many explanations usually lead to the downfall of certain films. This was perfect, and I can't wait for it to come to DVD.

finally checked this out
13 October 2007
I'm a huge fan of horror movies, basically it's all I watch. For some odd reason I never got around to seeing this and after reading about how great it was in every magazine I picked up, every horror fan I talked to and every message board.. I finally rented it. Thank god I didn't buy it, although I wouldn't mind having it for my collection even though I would probably never watch it again. I know I'm a huge minority here when I say that not only did I not like this film, but I really kind of hated it and felt p*ssed off after I had watched it. I can't for the life of me understand the appeal this has to people, other than sentimental reasons maybe. I thought it was boring, very slow, the story was just... I don't even have words. I was kind of mad at myself for not liking it when it's considered a huge classic in the horror genre, but whatever.

Solid 9
26 September 2007
I read about this in fango a few months before I was able to find it, so I knew what it was about instead of going into it blindly. What I loved most about this film was basically the characters knowledge of horror films.. reminded me a lot of myself. I liked how the movie played homage to other great films, and it was fun re watching it for things that I might have missed (and I always find more every time I watch it) It's low budget, but doesn't really have that awful low budget feel to it, for example the Dark Harvest films (horrible btw). The DVD is awesome, has some good special features to it. If you're a fan of horror films or cult films in general, deff. check this out.

one of my favorites
26 September 2007
I LOVE this film. I bought it about a year ago without knowing anything about it, and I fell in love.. one of the best Christmas movies ever! heh. I'm so surprised more people don't know about it, maybe it was due to the title change.. I dunno. The Clerks homage was great, I just can't say enough good things about this. Obviously it's not Oscar worthy but it's a lot of fun. OK, I need more lines in this.. blah blah, la de da. I want to wish you a merry Christmas! I want to wish you a merry Christmas! I want to wish you a merry Christmas, from the bottom, of my hearrrrt!I want to wish you a merry Christmas! I want to wish you a merry Christmas, from the bottom, of my hearrrrt!

oh god, the worst movie ever made maybe
26 September 2007
This movie is just.. terrible. Terrible doesn't even come close really. I could tell from the first 5 min. that it was going to be bad and I kept watching sadly. The acting is HORRIBLE, and the fx (if you can call them that) are like something you would see two 11 year olds doing in their back yard with a video camera. Their are so many holes in the plot, for instance.. they clearly state in the beginning that the cabin has no running water. Flash forward 10 min. later, the guy is running his finger under the faucet after getting cut. The whole movie is like this, I didn't end up finishing it b/c it just got too bad, even for my standards (and they are pretty low) I wonder.. how can so many talented people be trying to get their films made, and this crap makes it to the shelves? I can honestly say this is the worst film I have ever seen, don't even waste a second of your time.
