Onnellisten laiva (2004)
Excellent!
I decided to watch "Onnellisten laiva" because the little told about the plot seemed quite interesting. However, I haven't liked most of the Finnish film productions and this was a TV-movie so my expectations were low.
Now that I've seen it, I'm really glad I did decide to watch it. I would never have guessed how well they handled the mystical elements of this story. I found the plot interesting and exciting and the conclusion was awesome, I was surprised of how unreal it actually was. I think it was very touching as well. I have nothing to complain about the actors either, they all did a good job.
I like this kind of stuff and I think Finns should do more movies of these spiritual and mystical subjects. I'm tired of the drinking and shagging themes of typical Finnish movies. Thanks a bunch to the makers of this wonderful movie!
Black Hawk Down (2001)
Shooting, not much else
I knew Black Hawk Down would be a visual masterpiece because of Ridley Scott, whose previous movies I've liked a lot. I expected some annoying over-patriotism from Jerry Bruckheimer, but fortunately there wasn't too much of that. BHD was a realistic depiction of the events - that's pretty much all it was. I'm glad there wasn't any foolish love story, but the movie felt like a documentary. Saving Private Ryan was way better.
