Jewel: Live at Humphrey's by the Bay (2002)
Jewel is a gem!
Jewel is a gem! This video of a largely acoustic, mostly solo live performance shows why so many love her. She is authentic, honest and vulnerable with her audience. We feel included, and in this performance we experience a form of audience participation that I've never seen before in a stage presentation by a famous singer. Through her music Jewel shares from her explorations as to who she is, and by extension we each get to know something heart-felt about our selves. She knows we are each a part of something much more comprehensive than "self", and that one's sense of and contribution to community matters. In this video we see Jewel shine, and enjoy her amazing music as she touches our souls. Bravo!
The Dreams of Sparrows (2005)
Definitely worth watching
The Dreams of Sparrows is a simple movie about people of modern day Iraq, by Iraqis for Americans. It doesn't adhere to a position or make a case for or against U.S. policy on Iraq. It shows, better than the evening news, what life is like and what Iraqis think about their current state of affairs, and American involvement in their country. We see their hopes and aspirations. It is very worthwhile watching. I recommend it.
This film should be distributed in the United States. I found it through Netflix and a distributor I found through amazon.co.uk that will sell to buyers in the U.S.
Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004)
Fahrenheit 9/11 is a "must see" for all "real" people
Fahrenheit 9/11 is a "must see" for "real" people. By "real" people I mean authentic people, people who are aware of their humanity, whose souls understand that we are all related and thus that how we treat each other matters. Michael Moore tells a story in Fahrenheit 9/11 that everyone who follows world affairs should already know, and that many, apparently, around the world do know. The systems for delivering news in the USA tell the stories that the powers that be want to tell. Unfortunately, they are, for the most part, not the stories we should already know. I heartily recommend Fahrenheit 9/11 as presenting one of the most important stories of our time.
You can't go wrong choosing to see this movie.
