Rock Opera (1999)
The South Will Rock Again
19 August 2001
This is one of those movies that makes me proud to live in Austin. We had Slacker to showcase our town in 1990 and now Rock Opera rounds it out in 1999! Want to have some idea what it's like here in Austin, Tx? Check it out....but don't move here. The South/North Austin in-joke rages on and the ones in the know can totally relate. You don't have to be a Texan to get into this one since these "types" live all over our fine country. Many Austinites will be pleased to see Ginny's Little Longhorn used twice in this film (once as the bar in Vidor, Tx. and then as the bar in Del Rio, Tx.). A great cast (not pros, but talented) and some great tunes by the FuckEmos and other acts. A slice of life for the local band/stoner lifestyle...grab your favorite 12 pack (Lone Star if possible) and strap on your gasmask bong and enjoy this rockin' little flick.

most of y'all are big babies

Look here, I just spent 20 minutes or so reading 47 comments on TCSMII...Some of you get it, but most of you don't. I'm not going to waste anyone's time trying to change some opinions, but I do want to encourage the folks that haven't seen this sick little gem to pick it up. It is not like the original. It is full of gore, in jokes, and twisted ideas. It is not like Evil Dead II. It's it's own animal. Chop Top is great along with Dennis Hopper...and Stretch is a bloodsoaked, sweatstained, leggy heroine. Do yourself a favor and check this one out with a couple of friends. Order in a pizza or some hot wings and dig in....and remember, "Dog WILL hunt!"

quite possibly the best horror film ever made
30 July 2001
I watch this movie when I feel down about my life. It never fails to make me feel better. Chainsaw leaves me raw and abused even after the 20th viewing. It helped me through my divorce....sound silly or sick? Watch this one alone with all the lights off and a six pack of Lone Star and decide for yourself. No other movie has as much screaming and tension....pure fear....not many of us can even begin to relate to the horror....thank God.

Evil Toons (1992)
pornstarlet makes good...drunk monk does so-so...

I've read the various reviews of this flick and some of y'all just don't get it. Obviously, it's cheap and poorly made...so go with that and relax. It's a perfect throwback to 80's horror/comedy filmmaking. Sexist? Whatever. If you rented this one you wanted to see a few bimbos get naked and then get dead. You also wanted to see a "...Roger Rabbit" type horror film. So, you get the first and not really the last. Live with it. Madison Stone gives an award winning performance for a porn star and David "Kung-Fu" Carradine seems a little less drunk than he did in his mail order tai-chi how-to video. You also get cult star Dick Miller and Laugh-In nazi Arte Johnson...oh, how could I forget Monique Gabrielle, in her best topless scene since Bachelor Party?! Plot? Kinda'. Nudity? You betcha'. Cartoon monster? Long enough for this kid. Enjoy at your own risk....who cares what your friends think anyway.
